  1. Can you give me the correct name of the adaptor I should be looking for?

And I don't like the salesman there...I hope he isn't there tmw if I go in. What an ass!

I don't understand why they wouldn't stock Atari 2600 stuff. I mean, they must have some shit leftover from warehouses to get rid of. I dunno.

  2. Wow! I'm impressed by some of the collections in here. Mine was growing but I haven't found anything interesting in a long time. The nearest goodwill store is kinda far, so not much time to go there and look.

    However I have the following:

    1 Woodgrain 2600 with 2 paddles and 2 joysticks.

    30 loose games in a shoebox(some duplicates)

    1 NES with controllers

30-40 loose games in a box somewhere

    I also have a PS1 and a PS2.

  3. I brought my VCS into Radio Shack today to get an adaptor plug, since I don't have a power plug.

Anyways, the salesman gives me shit like, "We may not have parts for that" or "I can't help you cuz it doesn't say the voltage on the bottom of the unit" and all kinds of shit. So, I had to go home and get the 2600, since the salesman would not help me if I didn't.

So after dodging traffic, I got back to Radio Shack with my VCS. I told him what I found out in this forum pertaining to voltage and mw and he fucking didn't believe me. Then I asked if he had any 9v 1200mw adaptors, and he said, "we don't sell them here". I was so pissed off, I left the store.

Now what am I gonna do about power plugs? Is it possible to adapt a Sega Genesis plug to the 2600? I have a spare one lying around. Please help me out here. I really wanna play my VCS again. Thanks

    Radio Shack sucks, everyone. Ok?

  4. I'm not sure what you mean about this, except that I lost the power plug for my 2600.

How can I tell if it's an UK 2600 anyway?

What exactly do I need to look for at Radio Shack again? Part number?

    Thanks!

  5. Yeah it's Buddy Christ..but only because I'm a fan of the movie Dogma.

In reality, I'm an atheist. But that could always change.

    'Nuff said about religion, man.

  6. So I went to Radio Shack to buy a new RF Adaptor for my VCS, only to discover that my power supply is nowhere to be found.

Anyone know of a place I can find a new power supply? Does Radio Shack carry anything that will work with a VCS?

I'm really disappointed. I was hoping to have my VCS up and running.

  7. I'm almost 21 now and the first computer I ever used was a Commodore 64. It was primitive, but the games on it were really cool. At home I had an Atari 2600, and the C-64 looked to be superior to it in many ways. I started using a C-64 in school when I was 8 years old.

I wish I could find one so I can find some games for it. I'm more interested in the older consoles, but a C-64 would be worth the effort to play again.

  8. These are games I've only read about, but here's a list of games I'm curious about:

    Custer's Revenge

    Beat 'em and Eat 'em

    Any Mystique cartridge

Mostly, they were supposed to be "adult" games but seem very juvenile in nature. Can anyone describe them or show some screenshots? This would be cool. Thanks.

  9. I've found quite a bit of systems at lawn sales/flea markets and even in dumpsters here in Northeastern Vermont:

    What I've found so far:

    Atari Jaguar

    2 controllers

    "White Men Can't Jump" cartridge(sucks!)

    Power Pack

$5 at a yard sale. It works fine..but only one game with it.

    NES

    2 controllers

    Power pack

$20 at flea market(too much to pay..the system doesn't work)

Actually, I've found so much and I never bothered to document what I found. However, my box contains a couple of 2600s, a couple of NESs, A Sega Genesis and the Atari Jaguar I mentioned.

I haven't found anything else good due to $$$ problems and the fact that I have no car to travel. I will check out Goodwill stores though.

  10. I did try hooking my VCS up to my TV a few months ago....it came out alright but I think the manual switchbox was flawed. It either came out grainy or if I managed to bend the wire right, really good. I know. It stinks. I think I saw something on Atari Age about hooking up a 2600 to a modern TV. I think I will try that when I get some time.

The only reason my 2600s are in the boxes is because I treasure them. I won't leave them lying out where they can be destroyed. Also, I've gotten most of the games from lawn sales and flea markets. Sometimes, even DUMPSTERS! You'd be surprised how many ignorant people throw away VCSs!

Anyway, so I'm liking what I see in this forum so far so I will be around more to post. As I mentioned, I'm known as Kepone in the PPS2 forums too, so if anyone stops by there give me a "hell-ya!".

    Thanx.

  11. Hello everyone! I am a regular at PlanetPS2 and I was bored so I saw this forum and decided to sign up.

I have 2 Atari 2600s and about 25-30 games sitting in a box somewhere as I have no time to try and hook my 2600 up to my TV. I'm not going to sell them however. I still have the very first video game system I ever played. I've been playing games since I was 6 and the 2600 was the first time I'd ever played games. I own a PS2 now, but I'm still very interested in classic games/systems.

I'll be posting here as often as I can. Thanks! Look forward to it! :D
