  1. Well I will think before bidding from now on but I do plan to follow through on the item I bid for. I do need a working 2600 anyway. And I've never owned a clone of a 2600 so I figure it will be worth the money.
  2. Well the seller did say that he thought I was trying to call off the whole thing but I just didn't expect to win the auction for the item. I dunno. I have gotten emails about possible trades but after sending back messages to the people, they don't respond. Oh well. So, if anyone's serious about trading/buying/selling, they should be honest and not try to dupe others. I try myself to be honest when doing any of the three. Just new to a lot of this.
  3. Basically I'm looking for some tips on how to trade effectively and how to do so without disturbing the balance between harmony and hostility. Recently, I bid on a silent auction and I figured that I would get outbid. The auction was ended early and I was kinda surprised that I had won it.. I wanted the item in the first place, but figured that I would get outbid. I will still buy the item from the person auctioning it, but I wonder if the way I responded was a turn off or something. How does one respond to winning an auction when their expectations for doing so are low? I dunno. I still want the item and I have researched it and I have an use for it. I'm just not sure if the seller is convinced. This was not on EBay though. Any advice is appreciated.

    some tips

I find it very useful to use tissue to get to the nooks and crannies on 2600s...so it's not so hard to clean the surfaces of them. I'm not prone to taking apart 2600s and I do try and clean carts as well.
  5. One place you can check if all does not go well with your 2600 is: http://www.collectorscardsandgames.com They have 2600s along with 5200s, 7800s and much more. I am getting a 5200 from them soon. If you want to dig up more info on classic games, I suggest you check these sites: http://www.atarihq.com/ http://www.digitpress.com/index2.htm http://www.forumplanet.com/classicgaming/ http://www.atarimuseum.com/ Just in case you're curious about video games more. I dunno. Just trying to help out. First thing I do before buying a system is RESEARCH.
  6. Welcome to the Wonderful World of Atari Age! If you have ANY questions regarding ATARI, this site is THE ONLY SITE THAT MATTERS! I've had a 2600 and games since 1986! Also have an ever-expanding collection that's taking on different systems at a time. However, Atari is number ONE! WHOOO! Gimme an A....Gimme a T....Gimme an A....Gimme a R....Gimme an I...what does it spell? ATARI! Excuse my cheerleader mode. Gotta switch to "drinking Magic Hat and relaxing at AtariAge" mode.
  7. These things are like the earlier equivalent of a CD changer. Interesting! Not interested myself. Just thought it looked like an interesting peripheral.
  8. IF it was at a reasonable price, sure I would buy it if they did their research. I did buy systems from some old lady. She obviously did her research as she was asking $30 for a 5200 one time..LOL. So, not everyone is a sucker.
  9. I would also accept trading a 2600 for any of the following: -Colecovision -7800 -INTV So let me know and I'll see if I can put together a deal. Let's get the bargaining table up and ready!
  10. Send me a PM and we'll work something out. I'm not sure if the 2600jr is even in working condition. I know that makes it sound risky. Right now I have no more money until this coming Monday so I can't even pick up a AC Adaptor for my 2600s. I would not mind doing this. It depends on what else you would like to trade for besides the 2600jr. I won't let my copy of Fathom go because I want to play it when I get my 2600 back up..since Witchfynde said that his copy that I traded him is a pretty cool game. Thanks And being that I'm still pretty much new to AA, don't chastize me or rule me out.....instead offer advice and stuff. I'm always looking to learn new things.
  11. I found a boxed SMS arcade type controller yesterday and it also had two regular SMS controllers in the box. The arcade type controller(or whatever it is called) was dusty and I can't try it out. I dunno. Other than that, SMS stuff has been hard to come by. When I went to a private school, they had dorms and we had a Vectrex at one time and a SMS. I don't know what happened to the SMS, but the Vectrex was discarded because it broke down one day. If only I knew how valuable it was. I assume the SMS is still around. If only I could get it from my old school. Hmm.
  12. I also have spare joysticks and paddles. Those would be included naturally with the system. Remember, I am still new to trading/selling things so give me a chance. I'm a very honest person and that doesn't always work in my favor. However, If anyone has better suggestions regarding selling things on here, let me know. I really don't want to try EBay. I could...but then I know I would get greedy. I just know. But based on the deal with Witchfynde, I have a lot of confidence when it comes to selling/buying/trading.
  13. Sounds like a good find to me. The Goodwill stores around here have had mostly Genesis/NES stuff. Pathetic, ain't it? I can't wait for Summer. Hopefully, lawn sales and flea markets will uncover people who sell carts for $1 and systems for $10....SUCKERS! LOL. I'd buy something and then show them the rarity rating as to show them that they should RESEARCH before selling something!
  14. Around here it's hard to collect for just Atari. And you have to think of the future..that systems that were new 10-12 years ago could be considered Classic in the near future. So the sooner you start collecting, the better off you will be. I see it as a hobby. I need a hobby now anyway. It's my goal to have a game room but I'm more into owning consoles. It means more choices when it comes to playing games. Right now, I am too lazy to get my 2600 back up and running. It doesn't mean that I won't soon anyway. I have a "bottle fund" which will go towards anything that I wish to add to my collection. I find that if I'm really clever, I can pay all my bills, buy food and still have money left over for leisure pursuits. I'm going to college soon, so hopefully I'll get just enough games/consoles to have some serious fun with. I still got stuff I want to get rid off...like the C64 games I found and a Texas Instruments TI-99/4a. I'd most likely sell them for cash to use towards any systems/games I want. I hope I can keep the selling/trading local in AA since I don't want to have to resort to EBay to get rid of stuff. Blah Blah..LOL
  15. It's definitely nothing special in my opinion. I happened to pick it up along with the original Donkey Kong at a lawn sale and I can't tell the difference between either games. You have to understand that Colecovision had better graphics..so the 2600 though limited in some ways, was still capable of putting out a better effort on this game. Perhaps someone should remake the DK series? Hack-O-Matics were made for this. I don't have one, but if you want to change it bad enough...YOU CAN!
  16. I dunno about finds but I may have sealed up a deal for another 2600 and an Odyssey2..will find out soon and see what I get next week for cash. Also, going to get a 5200 soon also. Looks like my collection will finally be EXPANDING! LOL. I got plenty of stuff for trade but for my 2600 collection, I'm letting 2 of the 4 systems I alreay have go for cheap. I'll definitely hold onto the 2600 I won in the silent auction. Happy New Year!
  17. I plan to possibly acquire an Odyssey2 soon, so I would consider trading if you see anything on my game list below that interests you..let me know. I just got some more stuff from Goodwill yesterday so hopefully I have something that will interest you. Thanks!
  18. It's funny because I had planned to order a 5200 but looks like I won an silent auction by general atarian for a 6 switcher Sears Telegames 2600 so I'll have to take care of that first. I'm selling off 1 or 2 of the 4 2600s I have to help pay for that and then I'm looking at a possible deal for an Odyssey2 with someone else so looks I will have 3 systems once I work out specifics. I like this. It's kinda fun!
  19. If anyone's desiring to start an Atari collection but doesn't have anything Atari, I am willing to do the following in order to raise cash for an auction I won but need some cash for: -1 of my 2600 systems. Woodgrain. 4 switch. or 1 2600jr -1 or 2 games that I have spares of You will need to buy a RF adaptor and power plug as I don't have neither. Let me know what you think. I'm willing to let this deal go for $25 dollars OR trade. Thanks. I have references from Witchfyde and I will do what I can to answer anyone's questions.
  20. Casually 1986 Seriously 2002 I have 29 Atari 2600 games so far..1 boxed Not much..but I will get more as soon as I become rich someday..LOL.
  21. I did just mention that I'd like to know if the systems come in original boxes. Also, does he throw in a game with each order? I just need to know more about the quality of service you recieved and such before I consider placing an order. Thanx
  22. I'd take the 10 bucks used on this pointless item, buy 10 extremely common copies of Combat, and sell them for $52.99! yah! I'll be rich! (In redneck voice): "Maw, I sold dem combat cartridges! Looks like yer rich!"
  23. I would give it a shot sometime but I'm still skeptical of EBay. Call me old fashioned when it comes to buying things, but I prefer mailorder.
  24. I just don't like the way Ebay works..so I won't use it. Plus, I'm not rich so I don't like the idea of getting into a bidding war with someone.
  25. I have 5 of these games on my collection list if anyone wants to trade for them or buy them. I have no idea if they're anything special. However, they all are in original boxes with instructions and some bonus items. Let me know. I don't have a Commodore 64. I'm a recommended trader...so check out that post for more info.
