  1. Hi, I'm the writer of superfamicomrpgs. Thanks for the link!

I was also the writer of "Super Famicom Games", which is indeed defunct. The project was way too large and I just wasn't having that much fun with it. I had intended to come back later with a different project but I more or less forgot about it until earlier this year. Inspired by CRPG Addict and The RPG Consoler, I started up superfamicomrpgs which is a much more modest project. I'm enjoying it a good deal more and I hope that I can keep it up for some time to come.

One additional blog that you don't have is http://inconsolablenung.blogspot.com/, which another "English console RPG" blog.

  2. Perfect.

    Thanks, Pangasinan.

Glactic (not Galactic) Tactic was announced, but never released.

I still believe a proto of this one is floating around somewhere.

Maybe Tempest can tell us more.

I can translate the Japanese text from the picture if that helps:

    Galactic Tactic

The Space War was fought between the Morbols from the spaceship Dezoris, and the Milpops from the spaceship Mamza. Your mission as the Space Defense Army is to watch and protect the Galactic Tactic border. Also, prevent the Morbols or Milpops from making contact. The Galactic Tactic is protected by a strong energy field. Protect the peace of the galaxy!

(I guess that doesn't help much. It was probably translated from another language so I don't know about those proper names; they could be other things.)

  3. Thanks for the response; that makes sense. If I understand you correctly, then, for a game like World End which has screenshots but is still not found, the screenshots came from a pirate cart?

I initially found this site a while back through some post or link somewhere about Chase the Chuckwagon, which seems to be only the tip of the iceberg. The 2600 must be unparalleled in the number of prototype, rare, and obscure games due to the loose quality control of the system and the ease with which games could be created for the system (at least compared to more modern consoles). Surely there must be many games out there waiting to be discovered -- I can see why people would enjoy collecting the games so much.

  4. I'm not a collector, but I find it fascinating to read about the rare, unknown, and prototype games. However, after reading a number of threads in the archives I have one question about the games from the companies like Home Vision. How is it that the existence of certain games can be known, but the titles are not? There also seems to be cases where there are screenshots, but no actual carts are known to exist? Were these just taken off pirate carts?

Sorry if these are basic or stupid questions but it's a fascinating topic and it seems like in most of the discussions the posters already know what they're talking about.

  5. E.T. was the second game (after Space Invaders) that I got for my 2600, and thus was one of the first video games I ever played. Given that, I remember enjoying it quite a bit, but I haven't played it in over 20 years so I may not like it quite as much these days. :)
