  1. That's the one!

And you are right,it wasn't that great. I hung out so much at that arcade that I had played everything there.Anyways, thanks for the help.

Hopefully somebody can help me out. I remember that it was a fighting game before the SF2/MK days - so say late 80s.

You were able to choose different characters & weapons & then you had to fight different people/fantasy creatures.

The thing I remember the most was if you won the match, you hear a really cheesy audio clip yell:

    "HA!!!!!!!!! Victory!!!!!!!!!"

If anybody has a clue, please let me know. Thanks!

    Nightwing..

Sounds like Data East's "Hippodrome" from 1989. It absolutely sucked.

Yup, Hippodrome. Here's the link to a video of this abomination.

  3. I love Star Blazers!!!

Also a huge fan of Getter Robo G (aka 'Starvengers') and Gaiking! I wish those were on DVD!

Have you ever seen the Japanese version of Star Blazers? The storyline and characters personalities are a bit different.

If you want to watch the show as it was originally intended, you can find each season w/subtitles for around $30 each and they are crystal clear. The US DVD release of Star Blazers looks like they just transferred VHS straight to DVD. Terrible quality.

There was a guy that had these on DVD (the Force Five stuff). I have them & they are easily watchable.I don't think he has them for sale at the moment,though...

  4. Awww man!!!

I normally don't like cart boxes with price tags on them but your boxes were purchased from the store where I bought just about all my 2600 titles back in the day... Zayre! I don't know if they were a national or local chain but there were a few of them in the Boston area. Man I wish I could afford to purchase one of these! Can I buy the price tag? :)

It was a regional chain, that I am pretty sure. They were a good place to get games, especially when the Great Crash occurred.

    BTW: I've sold 3 of the 4 games.Thanks everyone!!

  5. After a great deal of thought - I have decided to sell my Avalon Hill games. The four that are for sale are:

    London Blitz

    Death Trap

    Shuttle Orbiter

    Wall Ball

(no I do not have Out Of Control, wish I did)

As it says in the topic thread, all four games are unopened & shrinkwrapped. As you can see in some pics that are in earlier posts, the Zayre price tag is still on the shrinkwrap. I found all of these one day at a local thrift store just like this. The marker that you can see on the front is from that store and it is on the wrap itself, and NOT on the actual box.

I have had some offers for the games, but at that time I still wasn't sure that I was going to sell them.So to be fair - I'm going to wait for four to five days before I make a final decision.

    Two things -

I am considering holding onto one of the games (most likely Death Trap) simply because I'd like to keep a reminder of how lucky I was to find these.Though I've been fortunate to have scored some great stuff over the years - this is probably the best one I've had. It will all depend on what offers I get.

The second is that I really need the cash,so I'm really not looking to trade. But - if I got an offer for some money & a game for my collection that I'm trying to complete, then I might consider that. (right now that would either be Keio for the Sega CD or one of the rarer Intellivision games.

Now,as for references - I have been collecting for a number of years, though I haven't done much lately.I am listed in the 5th edition of the DP guide under my name.I also used to post in r.g.v.c back in the day. I also have done some buying over at the DP forums under my name there (Nightwing). I also have done some buying at Chase The Chuckwagon & I have excellent eBay feedback (nightwing007). I also drive a school bus for a living & co-host a public access show where I live in RI,so I can be found. :D

I have no problems shipping overseas, and I'll either sell all three/four games together or i will break them up depending on the offers. If for some reason I don't sell them all at this time these will go to one of the aforementioned auction sites.

That's it.Please PM me if you have any questions & thanks again for your interest!

  6. I haven't posted in a while here, been dealing with a family illness along with some other things.Anyways - this is something that I really don't want to do - but if I get some good feedback I just might do it.

If you look here - Yes,here. You'll see that I'm talking about my shrinkwrapped Avalon Hill games. I'm looking also at unloading some of my other collectibles & stuff to pay the bills, but I could let these go simply because they aren't opened.

I'd rather be able to play the games, you know? Anyways,if you have any interest at all,PM me.Thanks!

Edit: The topic title has been changed & these games are now for sale.

  7. Congrats! That is a beauty indeed.

A couple questions to satisfy my curiosity...

Is the box dated 1978 on the front? (lower right corner)

Can I see a pic of the power supply and joysticks?

I'm curious if it has the Sunnyvale gray power supply, or the Taiwan gray version...and I'm curious if it has the CX-10 joysticks (most likely) and if they have Atari hex disks on the top or not.

I promised the wife that I'd play Rock Band,so no pics tonite, but I'll post them tomorrow if you still want.

    But :)

    To answer what I can:

    The box IS dated 1978.

It is a gray power supply.

Not sure about the joysticks, but they do have a distinctive spring-click,so I do think they are 1st year.

  8. I had checked out a craiglist ad a few weeks back for Atari & Intellivision systems.I responded with my interest, but the lady couldn't find the Intellivision,so she'd check back with me after she had found the system.

Well, two weeks later & I see the same ad on CL.I call up & the lady said she was getting ready to call me to see if I was interested in the Atari still (she still can't find the INTV...) Anyways - I ask her to check the label underneath & she does so. Yep - "Made in Sunnyvale,CA". She said that someone else offered her $40 for the system & two games (Combat & Football) but that since she had talked to me first,it was mine if I wanted it.

I made plans to go see the Atari, and, needless to say - I forked over the money without complaint. She did say that the system was only used a couple of times, but since it was so old that if it didn't work I could get a refund.

Here's the system - (I'll comment more in a minute)

I have never seen a more mint condition VCS system :) All the paperwork is there, the Combat box is in excellent shape - paddles haven't been used & the AC adapter looks brand new. The only issues I can see is that the RF switch label has come unglued off of the switchbox,& the paddle labels are coming off of the paddles. The outside box also has some water damage on one side end,but it was many years ago - long since dried out.

I haven't tested it out yet - but I have every reason to think it will be fine.Assuming that's the case - do you think I got a good deal? Looking forward to reading your opinions...

PS: The serial # is 16273J

  9. When I first bought the Sega CD, I originally wanted to get Dragon's Lair to go with it, but the store I bought it from didn't have it, and neither did Blockbuster Video next door. I ended up having to choose between Microcosm and Ground Zero Texas, and so I chose the latter game. I eventually got the other two games; Dragon's Lair turned out to be painfully less responsive than the arcade version, while Microcosm was a rails shooter that didn't excite me as much as Sewer Shark did.

I have a thing for FMV games.I love Corpse Killer & had a blast with Tomcat Alley. Also,Fox Hunt for the Playstation is pretty good...

  10. What the title says. I've been collecting & playing games most of my life, but I haven't been doing much in the way of classic collecting. Until a couple of weeks ago, when I found a CIB Activision Seaquest for $3.

I also found these for $3 each...

They are all still shrinkwrapped with the original store tag on them. I do admit I was thinking of throwing them up on eBay,but I'm gonna hold onto them for now. I've done some research and prices/rarity do seem to fluctuate a bit. (There's an eBay auction up now of the Shuttle Orbiter box & manual - no cart - for $145,which seems crazy to me,but I haven't collected much in the way of the 2600 in a looong time) Anyway - I was just wondering what you all think. Thanks, and I look forward to spending some time here at AtariAge :)
