  1. God bless America and CPUWIZ!!!!1!
  2. When I bought a lot of them off of an arcade distributor I did fairly well, about a buck a chip, but I'd still like to reserve the 040's for higher capacity dealies since once you start bending pins up and soldering in place it's kinda hard to reuse them (And I'm not messing with those damned sockets. ) I've been tinkering with editing PAL roms so they'll run normally on an NTSC system actually, although I guess sooner or later I'll do Earthbound.
  3. Just a quick stab to see if anyone bleeds. I've got quite a few 27C040 chips, a couple 27C010 I could spare, in trade. These are all for NES related programming.
  4. Shouldn't come as a shock, last year was a good one for picking up NES carts cheap in the wild and on the net.
  5. Will you please list individual titles of your available games?
  6. I do. Going for 100 this year, and I'm not off to a bad start so far. 6 new titles this January, Little Samson among them finally.
  7. Centipede upright, 46,062 units, $1995 HOLY CRAP, that is a LOT. Is this right? That would make a Centipede cab pretty cheap (relatively) eh?
  8. This is all done through emulators and the unterweb. I'd be interested if someone wants to play Contra Hard Corps with me.
  9. I was afraid of the connector's stability myself but after soldering all those points I can't even bend it by hand. I'm sure I could bend it if I really really wanted to, but most of an NES cart's weight is near its bottom and there's no problem. If anyone's opened a cart up they'll know what I mean, sucker's empty in there. By clicky thing you mean the spring loading tray? I've got about three of those kicking around the house after playing Frankenstein, while I turned the mobo around I also flipped it upside down, so carts load label up.
  10. I hated that zif (zero insertion force) connector so much. So I did this. http://www.angelfire.com/apes/madmeat/toaster1.html
  11. Damn, I hadn't even thought about that, but that 'wats a top loader' thread was over at Digital Press, too. So why haven't you made one yet, CPUWIZ? Not being sarcastic, either.
  12. March 1991 featured Metalstorm on the cover of Nintendo Power as well. Wish I knew what happened to that custom model that was made of the robot.
  13. Surprised the Zelda game hadn't been mentioned yet. TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan (the very first one) was a good Konami effort.
  14. It's so ugly he mistook it for another Wizard Video title.
  15. Eh, the kid's only 7 years old, so I doubt it'd last long if they kept it anyway. Way I see it I did someone a favor by preserving it. How about sending me those TG-16 jewelcases since they don't matter that much. Come on people, take this thing out of my hands! Gimme a few common NES carts or something.
  16. I just got one from my neighbor. His kid got the system for Christmas and they were going to throw it out, so.. It's just the box and the plastic baggies that everything came in, no documents, with the promotion of the Zelda bonus disk on the front. Nice shape, a few tears on the back.
  17. What the hey, I'm game. Tetris. This one is timeless! It might not be my favorite game but it has staying power. Any iteration of Chessmaster, probably for the NES, or SNES. Sonic and Knuckles 3. Sure, it technically comes in two cartridges, but we all know it's meant to be one game. While seemingly a simple platformer that you'd eventually get tired of, amazingly every year I play through it several times and still learn new secrets. I would have chosen Wonderboy III in this one's place, but while it's my absolute favorite I know it like the back of my hand by now.
  18. Went online with the DC a few months back. The novelty wears off after a day or so, but if you don't have those memory cards that connect to the PC, it's the way to go to get game saves.
  19. Anybody got pictures of software running on the PSX prototype?
  20. I got one of these clear cart dealies from CPUWIZ and can attest that the label had GREAT print quality.
  21. Lots of SMS games (Zillion, Wonderboy III) take advantage of the FM sound chip, which was only available for the Mark III in Japan. What makes this so great (from a technical standpoint) is that even the US and European games still have the FM information encoded in the rom sets, they're just normally never used. You can sample how FM music sounds compared to the regular soundtracks of certain games by checking out the VGM archive at SMSpower.org. Oddly enough I find that I prefer the non-FM audio, but I suppose that's because I grew up with it.
  22. Yeesh, pop an alkyl nitrate, DracIsBack. I sort of suspected that there would be more Japanese exclusives on that list. Akumajou Special - Boku Dracula Kun, or Kid Dracula is pretty darn fun for what it is.
