    I've always had an Atari 600XL growing up as a kid, but during the NES days I used to head over to a neighbor's house to play some 2600 instead. It was DIRT CHEAP back then compared to Nintendo, and easily affordable. I even had a 7800 for a while before I got an NES. Well I'm finally getting a 2600 of my own and even had CPUWIZ whip me up a little something special. In a way it commemorates a personal milestone and my very first 2600 game, which I happened to find in a crack house, which is another story all of its own. :P

     

    Now I am truly ONE OF YOU.

    So. What's on the BIOS menu?

     

    Does the Sega CD play music CD's? (Not that I need that. I don't play CD's. And I have an Xbox, Dreamcast and actual CD player to do that. ;) )

     

    It's mostly the flashy Sega logo spinning around, overcompensating with that mode 7 effect the SNES trumped the Genesis with the first time around. You can tell it to load the Sega CD game in the drive if it hadn't already, or use audio CD player controlls.

     

    Yes, it plays audio discs.. kind of an afterthought these days but back then it was a big deal I guess.. and why not, people were shelling out 400-500 bucks for it new, right?

    Is Knuckles like a normal Sonic game? Or did it have something extra? Well, besides the whole chain thing. What is that about? It's on my list.

     

    It's about 'you best get me and play me because I am worthy enough to belong in Bratwurst's collection'. ;)

     

    Okay, okay, a little more elaboration. It's a graphically pretty game. And I've picked up on enough subtleties to realize that it couldn't have been done on anything /other/ than a 32X for the time, but there's still a nagging feeling that it's unpolished and shoved out the door at the last minute. Definitely Sonic in feel, but doesn't have the oomph of S&K or Sonic 3. Still I like it, it's very relaxing to play and the rubber band system doesn't get in the way imo.

    Say if I have a CD in the drive and a Genny cart in the Genesis. Which would load? Would I need to remove the CD to play the Genny or remove the Genny cart to play the CD? Would the Genny ignore the CD when the Genny cart is in?

     

    Hmm, I don't even know and I have a complete setup. :P I shall test this in the name of science. :D

    Well, I've had my 32X for over a year now and no problems yet, though I'm not playing the thing 24/7 either.. I'm one of the few who really likes it but I have a fondness for mutant stepchildren.

     

    My suggestions are:

     

    Knuckles Chaotix, Space Harrier, Tempo, Kolibri. Star Wars Arcade is pretty good too, considering it's a dollar-common.

    The Sega CD would run the games strictly from the disc. The Sega Saturn did have some games that came with carts that had extra RAM in them, to be used in tandem with the game, but I think those were all Japan exclusive to begin with.

     

    While the Sega CD has internal battery backup memory, you can also get a dedicated save-game cartridge that plugs into the Genesis cartridge port and also save games there.

    hmmm. you think when someone who knows the value of what they have sells a game they should base their price on what you could find if you got LUCKY and came across a clueless seller who did not know the value?  

    plus i have never seen a bubble bobble 2 in the wild-

    You asserted that it was impossible to find them for under 30. I pointed out there are other avenues. Also: Where do you think most items sold on ebay come from?

    this may sound bad, but for the cardboard box games that were in bad shape, i cut the spine, and slipped the sleeve into a plastic case.  The value may be less, but those cardboard cases are terrible, they couldve at least made a gatefold box  :|

     

    Agree 100%. Personally I don't collect cardboard packed games at all and for a few rare exceptions I print out my own slips (S&K, Sonic 3D Blast).

    maybe it was that they finally exhausted the SMS plastic case overstock, just a theory. i wonder the same thing about sega CDs and saturn games both being packaged in that horrible sure to shatter case.

     

    The SMS casings are molded slightly differently to accomodate a cartridge that is less wide and smaller manuals. It's a sound theory though, Sega probably only did minor retools on the machine that made the original cases to make Genny ones.
