But will he find hamburgers there? Only if they don't visit the one on Packard Ave. in Ann Arbor. The service there was worse then nonexistient,

That joystick got to be smoking after all that playing. I can't imagine being on the same game 33 hours straight, let alone trying for the record.

Swordquest Airworld for Atari 2600 going (back) up on eBay
CrazyImpmon replied to Flexured's topic in Auction Central
It's still possible to cheat snipers out of the auction by putting in insane bid (ie $15,000) as many snipers usually puts in a few dollars or so above the current bidf and may not have the time to resnipe before the auction closes. I wouldn't be able to even try and bid. The most I can afford is a paltry $200, which would probably be outbidded in a few seconds anyway. I do wish to see this game dumped even just for preservation against the evil bitrot. -
I might get one myself. I've been using an old analog PC controller via my homemade adapter

Swordquest Airworld for Atari 2600 going (back) up on eBay
CrazyImpmon replied to Flexured's topic in Auction Central
I do remember that story. I was under the impression one of the 2 proto were destroyed and not lost. In either case, you better guard that Airworld with your life, you could send your kids through community college with that. -
Model T Ford? Actually I would guess a Porsche and a Maverik. I do need the Xevious for my 7800 collection.

それは可能でない !! I wonder if the rumble feature can be used somehow?

How do you keep track of what carts you have?
CrazyImpmon replied to General Atarian's topic in Atari 2600
I used to maintain a list via database but it hasn't been updated for a while. Why bother if the best recent finds are loads of Combats and Pac Man? I've been going by my memory on newer games (Gamecube, DC, PSX, etc.) In the 1000+ collection of carts and CD-ROMs, I've been hit buying a duplicate title once (not counting buying a single lot of games, only when getting individual games) It was Final Fantasy Tactic. I knew back then it had been going for insane amount on eBay and when I saw a $20 copy at Target, and I couldn't remember if I already had one or not. I still have a sealed copy of FF Taqctic *Greatest Hit version, my open copy is the original version) -
I've seen a number of 2600 with the paper taped inside from the heavy 6 swithcers to the Jrs but maybe 90% of them. The other 10% it may have gotten lost or removed at one time in it's life. I think it may be more than just date, it may be part of the QC

Or you could clean my messy room. And simce I'm also too tired to update my have list, if you find anything that's not on my list it's yours for free. PS if you do go to clean my room, you might want to rent a bulldozer.

Looks like a standard 6 switch woodgrain model. It's defiantly not the heavy 6 switchers and the rest of the Atari model all had 4 switches.
-
It sure looks like interesting puzzle game. But when I got a good look at the label picture, the picture of the face looks like it was lifted from the cover of the movie 'Enemy Mine' Do I win something for spotting something?

How about a Doom for 2600 for real?
-
1996 Toys R Us with a red 99 cents tag on Star Trek for Vectrex. The box was well beyind crushed and worn but the cart inside managed to stay in and had a like new label on. The manual was long gone. The screen overlay was like a piece of Saran Wrap- crumbled. FWIW it was nested in between dozens of unsold Startropics and Zoda's Revenge at Ann Arbor store.

@Rob- Actually ethernet is less restricted than serial. With serial, you're limited in speed and you can only go a short distance. With ethernet, you could go 10m/sec or faster and there exists a 100' long cable so your computer and the 2600 doesn't even have to be in the same house. Just IMO
-
$10 for a donor cart? What are you buying... Gremlins? I have about 20 or 30 Atari carts that are missing the ROMs I could just ship over. I have all the screws to hold the cart together. All you'd need is to delabel them all. (A bottle of Goo Gone is only like $5 at most stores) Put me down for interested as I missed out the Cuttle Cart and I already have ethernet network in my house including a spare cable in my bedroom where my 2600 is. (FWIW the network is also connected to the internet via a gateway PC so if a 2600 web browser can be made I could surf the web with clunky graphic and such. )

Hmmm... On top of the stack with the 3 Pac Mans, there appears to be a Parker Bros cart with no end label. A sensible collector wouldn't be caught dead with a badly ripped or missing end label.
-
I was late in this one but I can tell it's Megaman in FLashman stage on TV. Also that Atarisoft cart, I think it's for Intellivision. (unless Atarisoft did C64, then it'd be impossible to tell apart)
-
I have many PB carts with end label comming loose. But none of them has completely come off and only one PB cart with no label (found it that way, looks like it was ripped off rather than dried out glue)
-
I'd love to try the back to back playing but I doubt it can be done safely. After oh say about 10 hours of flicerking graphic (and bad games) anyone still standing would go out on murderous rage.
-
You left out a few: Solaris the best game ever made. It proves a good complex 2600 game can be made even with the 2600's limitations. (Anyone wanna try Doom 2600 for real?) Adventure: a pseduo-RPG game that was also the first ever with an easter egg.

I don't know how that GC rumor started but Nintendo only said they would concentrate on the games for the time being. I don't think they would stop since the Gameboy line is still the best selling portable console around. They most likely will have a new next generation GB model in a few years or so. As for that Atari rumor, yeah it's true. The new system is expected to be called Atari 10400 and will be backward compatible with the 5200 and possibly compatible with Jaguar via an adapter. (Yes I'm playing with you)
-
Here's another one: If you find a single loose game in a store (no system or anything else, just one game cart) the chance if it being dead is directly proportional to the cart's rarity and visual condition.

Radio Shack..you are going on my hit list now!
CrazyImpmon replied to Brad2600's topic in Atari 2600
Here's a dirty trick next time your at Radio Shack. Memorise the phone number and address of any Radio Shack (preferably not the one you're going to as some employee might actually be bright enough to notice it). Let them eat their own junk mail. -
I hope you're refering to the welded on RF shield because if that's the easy part I think I'm going to shoot it. Actually I have 6 or 7 spare Inty consoles (many with non working controllers) that I could sacrifice in the name of science. Seriously what is it so hard?
