Pity i dont collect master system because you can find masses of these throughout sydney going from 1 to 5 dollars. I find going to the St vinnies central distribution store to be pretty damn good, I picked up river raid 2 boxed and one of those activision action paks for a dollar each. I find alot of european and bootleg carts all over the place, Lucky we live in such a multi cultural society here. Its a pity i cant find a pal rarity list anywhere for any system, Coz im thinking that HES produced alot of those "rare" ones making them not so rare depending on where you are. I personally think atariage is by far the best site for research and info, and the members are all ace. I think most cash converters have closed here for being a complete rip off, Blab blab blab blah blah etc

I have this problem with tonnes of carts, also the prong thingys from some 2600 carts not fitting. Is there a safe way to hack the slots with visually and technically defacing the machine??
-
OMG, Australians have landed!,, ahem That cart is 4 sure a pirate job, I myself have a few with the mountain and the face on the label, Only the names have changed to something stupid like "ski man Vs tomcat" We seem to have plenty here, being close to asia probably explains that. I go to honkers at least once a year and you can still get atari carts at the temple street markets for those who may be visiting. I call it the urine st markets,, Youve been warned.

The only kids ive met with attitude towards anything pre cd have been the kids working at games stores, Things like "xbox is so much better" make me shudder. Apart from that ive never had anything but positive feedback from the youth of today, I have a friend whos 4 year old son is hooked to vectrex, His 10 year old daughter is an nes freak. Another friend who visits my house often brings her 2 sons, 1 is 10 and the other 12. Last Sat we spent the entire day playing atari, coleco and the rest. Its now "can i have one of those?", I think its great. BTW, i was born 1970 and wear a "i hate eminem" t-shirt

I spend alot of time going to flea markets and usually come home with heaps of stuff. This weekend has been a bit slim, only a commodore 64 boxed and an atari 800xl. I know have 3 commodores with no sound! My thoughts on ebay? Ive bought a fair ammount of stuff off ebay usually at a decent price. The thing that gets me is sellers who have no idea what they are selling, Like selling c64 carts and claiming they are coleco?? It's all very well to make money on-line but it helps to know what you are selling. Unforunately there are too many people cashing in on a hobby they know nothing about.

Well that woke me up u horrible person . And to think that my suject header was going to read below. "swordquest buttworld proto found"

Yep, we definately had puckman cabinets down here in australia, Of course being so close to South East Asia we got alot of pirate cabintes in the 80's. I though Puckman was a clone at first, Of course we had both cabinets. I played a few donkey kongs with monkey kong cabinets (table top with inlays), However the stubborn mule/donkey thing seems to be more common here. Other classic pirate clones seen all the time in the 80's Frogs - which was frogger Galag - Galaga Xevos - Xevious moon ranger - moon patrol, the list goes forever,,,,,,,,,,

what's the next big retro system to collect for??

I think the next big one (or one of them anyway) would be the Pc-Engine, I think it's called the Turbo graffix or something like that in the states. The NES seems to be big here in AUS now, as well as atari, coleco, all the commons. The pc-engine is currently easy to track down as well as the Hu-cards or discs. I love the NEO GEO which i think is a pretty good prediction, but i'd say only for the states and japan. -
Hi All Well, finally got the machine and he certainly didnt lie, He bought a box full of discs of which many are originals. Ive taken alot of care in putting this togther, Thanks Eduardo for the link. Ive cleaned several discs which did the job and used a scouring pad on the carts. Pity i cant read Japanese, My console collection is now getting out of hand ubersaurus, cant answer your question about us sytems, However the famicom seems compat with my pal carts

"Pong Sports is a much cooler name, though." Sounds excellent, a game based on erradicating body odour?

Hi, thanx I've googled to the point where i cant google anymore! Actually i did get some info that may help me, Unfortunately the info i have found so far is not for a REV A board.

Hi All I have a C64 at home and many carts for it, The problem i am having is the sound. I can only hear the sound with my tv turned up to the max, I have tried the av/monitor 4 plug (used in the TV) adapter for the same result. What i have done so far, Opened and cleaned with alcohol, changed the SID chip, hmmm, Thats about it. As i havent a monitor anymore im wanting to use the rf ro TV instead, The C64 is REV A motherboard with the 6581? Sid chip. I have checked the MB and cant find any cold solders or cracks in the traces, Cant see any hairline cracks in the SID. Any help on this would be awesome, Like i said, I have loads of carts which are just waiting to be played. Cheers Martin

I found a very exciting line up of ultra non rare titles for the 2600 Qbert, Ms pacman (ntsc), Sky diver, berserk, Dig Dug, kunfu master. Oh, and Pitfall boxed with instructions, Intrnational edition. What is it with these international editions? I mean they are nothing special, Just a pal cart in 4 differnet languages. Believe me when i say i had none of these except for ms pacman, I have finally found an awesome supplier.

Honestly, Anyone from Aus here?? Check out the Fleas or flemmington on Sat, Verygood for this kind of shopping. These toploaders arent expensive.
-
So should i stick it in the freezer? No, really i think you may be on the ball with that one. I remeber my psx dying the same death, regardless of it being a cd system it still melted. Ah well, im still happy with both of them.
-
The top loaders definately look very tacky and non nintendoish. They apparently play both ntsc's and pal (modding the front loader is easy) which is a big + No av is a big turn off. The top loaders here are as common as combat as they didnt sell very well, Standard price is like $5-$10 Aus dollars which translates to $2.70 - $11 US. I have found that getting a scouring pad on all of my NES carts has stopped any problems with the image and blinking, thus creating no reason for me to own a top loader. (i'll get one anyways to mach the famicom disc system) Anyone in aus who wants one? there are several in my local vinnies going for $5

Hello All I'm now the proud owner of 2 7800 consoles of which the make seems to be of much different quality. Both machines are pal and neither is an 84 model. One of the machines is very tight getting any carts into, im talking about 7800, 2600 or whatever. I have to really force carts in and sometimes they will pop out mid game. Now the other one which looks the same except for a few scratches has easily enough room for all my carts. My question is did atari forget about quality with a few of the newer 7800's?, Its really (*$^%ng be off. Im thinking of filing the dificult one a bit. Thanks for any help / clue

Ah, part 4. I know very little about the TI-99 but the graphics looked very coleco. I lurv the 13ths, Speaking of which there where a few of those hand held basballs and footballs with the LED lights in Friday 13 Pt 2. -
Hi Thanks guys, Hes gonna bring it in probably tomorrow. Says hes got loads of discs and some carts, I didnt know they took both. Just one more newbie question, Are these discs specific nintendo discs?? or are we talking about roms that can just be downloaded on to a blank computer disc.

Hello all Is this hardware hard to come by?? Ive just been offered one here at work from someone who laughed at me for playing atari, hmmm

Ok, theres no doubt that i have the saddest collection of all time. Given that ive only been re-collecting a few months. Here goes, Mario bros, red label. (5) Pooyan Gakken, (?), read somewhere that this is rarer then the konami?? 32-1, Very common here (3) Others that i dont have a clue, they are all pal and not listed. Yars revenge, Pal, same as the sears version (-sears print) and not the red label pal as in the database. Ski hunt, no rarity listed and probably a hack anyway. Space tunnel by bit corp, probably only a 3 as the rest of bit corps are. There u go, the saddest list

My fave has to be smb2 for the nes. To me this was so original and different from the previous romp. Runners up are mario for the 2600 and mario 64

Ok Staring me in the face? Who could forget Space invaders being played in close encounters of the 3rd kind? It just seemed so relevant to the film. Can anyone remember zaxxon on the colecovision in one of the friday the 13th's? It was one of the later ones like 4 ,5 or 6 or sumpin. Not a memorable one but had a fat kid in it who i think was transformed into jason or something. Anyway, at the end he was playing zaxxon with a shaved head looking evil, he turns around and stares into the camera as his sister was calling for him. -
Ive seen heaps here in australia, However they are all the same label with the artwork. Not the same as the NTSC one, More redish brownish.
