  1. I knew about the differences BITD (had taken quite a few systems apart). The SNES' that have the detachable sound module, you can make into standalone SPC players. Kinda cool.
  2. Actually, the only plave NES "ruled" was in the NA. 7800 and SMS dominated everywhere else. There. Edited for correctness. Where did the 7800 rule? Iceland or such?
  3. So... it's for Germans??? That doesn't make any sense. :3 OP: Uhmm... if you have to ask, the answer is obvious. Get rid of it. You can always deal with regret later on (if that ever happens). I never understood why people post threads like this. If you can't make a simple choice like this, I can just imagine what the rest of your important real life decision process is like. Edit: I voted No.
  4. Which is why I'm skeptical of posted sales numbers. (Back in the day) 7800 who? I knew of the SMS, NES, Amiga, ST, C64, A8, 5200/2600, Coleco, etc. I never saw one 7800, nor knew it existed, or anything. And yet it out sold the SMS (which every kid I know that played games back then, knew what an SMS was even if they didn't have one)? That doesn't add up.
  5. The Jag and 3D0. The GameGear comes close, as the library just pretty much sucks (IMO), but I can't help but like the little system... for some odd reason.
  6. None of those came out in Europe. 1988 LA Times article stating that Sega sold 500,000 systems British magazine article breaking down Sega UK/Europe sales for 1990: What kind of professional magazine writes "Heeeeee, heeeeeee, heeeeee, hee, he." ??? I've also wonder how much support Sega received for the Master System in UK/EU, on the basis of Nintendo's system being the favorite child of the US game systems.
  7. I know how you did it, but I'll let other non-coders guess What???
  8. Yeah, I agree. Best to pass on the Phantasy Star series in general. Huge boring grindfests. Some neat plotty stuff seems to happen, as indicated in the intro scenes of the later ones, but to get there is a *massive* hassle. PS4 was the last one I tried. It marched me all over the continent on boring fetch quests for a good 6 hours before I gave up. At one point it even temporarily gave me a powerful character and basically told me to use him for grinding before they took him. Lame. Lots of people like that game too. I just don't 'get' any of it. At least I can remember distinctly which phantasy star games were which though. I really have trouble with a lot of the FF series. Than it's a safe bet that you're not a classic J-RPG fan. Simple as that. Just because you liked a few of them, doesn't make it so. (Not sure if you've figured that out or not ) Also, I have no idea what RPGs people are playing, that they consider FF IV a grind fest (or anything remotely close to it). And Chrono Trigger is over hyped. Fun game, but no where near the pedestal fan-freaks put it on.
  9. That's your problem right there. Don't let hype effect what you think of a game. Almost no game lives up to the hype. If you like J-RPGs from that era, then kept playing it. It's a fun game. I personally though FF V was boring. FFIV and VI were a blast.
  10. Wow, what a tasteless ad. Never expected something like that from Sega. Is that was it takes over in the UK to get peoples attention? And the funny part, is that it's not even really funny. Just something lame like a 13yr old would draw.
  11. And that's supposed to mean something? It's a Jag game. What more is there to say? The name of the game might as well be 'doorstop'. Just because it's worth some amount of value as an asset or collective investment, says nothing about the game itself. It doesn't change the fact On topic. Man, I wish I had kept some of my old borked NES systems for something like this (hate to ruin a working system). They used to be dime a dozen 10 year ago.
  12. At least you didn't make such a comment while having a Jaguar game as your avatar. Oh, the irony...
  13. Dragon Saber is also on PC Engine, IIRC.
  14. Anyone that told you that is either messing with you, or are complete frick'n idiots. The Duo isn't ugly by any stretch of the imagination. Unless tasteless designs are your thing. Can we include home console computers too? Like the A8's and C64s?
  15. Japan, no doubt. US made the worst. EU is OK. But neither could touch Japan.
  16. What!? Ok, people in this thread are officially fucking ridiculous. Genesis, TG16 and NES are ugly? Yeah, SNES is kind of a bad design, but it isn't ugly per se. But If the SNES is considered "ugly", then lots of systems previous to the NES are super fugly. 5200, coleco, 7800, etc. Yeah, this thread is ridiculous.
  17. Let's see, there's Gaiares, Gaiares, Gaiares, Gaiares, Gaiares, and Gaiares. Oh, and TF3
  18. Hahaha, they stole sound FX from Zelda on NES for this fake. Too funny
  19. That's a weird definite soul/soulless, but by that definite - the NES definitely has soul. The RE for the NES is probably more crazy than I've seen for any other system. Not to mention the emulation, demo, music/NSF (which is huge). and homebrew scene. It's very-very active. Check out the nesdev forums for yourself.
  20. Did I bruise your ego? Ahhhh... poor baby. Get over it.
  21. Comes down to two, really: Dreamcast or PS1 PS1 has horrible looking graphics nowadays, so if you can't stomach them - then the honor goes to the Dreamcast
  22. So you found a female gamer. And that's news worthy-posting-material, because she's female? The rare and elusive female gamer. Ooouuu~~~. Some of you guys need to get-a-life. My four nieces are total gamers and have been raised on games before they could walk. Does that mean people (gamer nerds) are going to ogle them when the get older too? Nerds....Jesus. It really seems like every time a young female gamer reveals their gender identify, you get these rabid fools that feel the need to white-knight/protect them, or hit on them, or just treat them as an outsider, poke at them for fun, or insult them (or all of the above). Apparently gaming and maturity are still at opposite ends. /rant off
  23. I'm a non-gamer now? Hahaha. That's news to me. Should I post my certifications so we can clear up this matter? Bullshit. First, my opinion is my own and I can stated as is. Second, I don't need to 'play to judge' to know what I like and what I don't. I've never played a CD-I game in my life and I don't need to know the games are shit. I've seen enough 'games' on the N-Gage for me to make an opinion of it. And it's an opinion, nobody said you had to like it I didn't tell you to 'ship out or stay quiet', just because I felt your opinion of the NES was slanted.
  24. So you guys don't like it because it didn't have direct arcade ports? That's pretty stupid lame reason to hate the NES. Maybe you just don't get the 8bit era. But I suspect it has to do with other reasons Trouble with Dittohead is that like his other post (best consoles in his mind), his research is always very flawed (always looks like a Wiki cut and paste job). Ratio means jack shit to a gamer. The amount of good games are real measure of worth. SGX probably has one of the best ratio of good games to bad for any system (I put it at 60%, but some put it higher). And I doubt anyone has it as their top system of choice N-Gage is pretty much crap from what I've seen. If I had to make a list: CD-I 3D0 Jaguar N-Gage I can't think of a fifth at the moment.
  25. VG&CE and EGM for the late 80's, early 90's. Early to mid 90's, Gamefan (EGM really started to suck about that time... '92).
