Uh, thanks! I had a close estimate. Where did you find that information, in the original Stella guide? I will try it out. So if I don't use the areas outside my square playfield then that buys extra programming cycles, right? Time to experiment...

If the screen is 40 pixels across and 192 scanlines down, how many horizontal pixels would look equal in length to the vertical length of the TV screen, to make a square playfield? Please tell me if my numbers are correct: I think the maximum horizontal resolution is 160 but I don't remember where I saw that number. 160 / 192 * 40 = 33.3 So it looks like I could design a square playfield that is, maximum, 33 x 33 units?

You may have had a substance-abuse problem if: a) you made a VCS console out of a carboard box—with chopsticks for switches—and stared at a blank TV, making sound effects of battling dragons, hoping your mother would buy a real VCS for Christmas instead of sending you to the school psychiatrist again. b) you drew every screen of Adventure on graph paper and tacked the entire map of the kingdom to the ceiling above your bed. c) you were the first among your friends to discover the easter egg! d) you played so much you could negotiate the mazes and the catacombs with your eyes closed.

How is the revision marked? On the box, on the console, on the motherboard? I want to buy the last rather than an early version of the FB2.

I want a FB2 but I understand there are three release versions--apparently the early models had glitches running Quadrun, Millipede and Adventure II . How is the release version identified, so that I may ask a seller to look? -
Maybe someone knows of the release dates of the various Flashback2 machines? I don't want to buy a buggy, prototype (see Wikipedia). Did they only come out in 2005, or were there sales in '06 and '07?

How can I ask the seller of a Flashback 2 to identify the version or revision? I.e., none (original), A, B, or C. Is it stamped on the box or the belly of the console? I would hope he wouldn't have to look on the motherboard. -irondog Happy to join this site,; I was OBSESSED with the vcs in early '80s.
