547,200 I initially hadn’t noticed zylon changed the difficulty after I complained (that will teach me!) I used the Wico out of mercy to my thumbs, so go ahead and dock me a point.

Picked up a C64 in a yard sale yesterday that boots up fine (yay!) but seems to have one of its sprites corrupted when playing a game. Is replacing the VIC-II chip the way to go on this? Or is their something else I should try first? (For better or worse, I have two C64s that just boot to a black screen so they could be harvested for parts.)

Ill grant you it can take several games before getting the hang of it enough to hit 50k or so. But after that, it stops being challenging, unfortunately.

Yeah, a little quick research suggests there are at least two A8 versions, probably more. Unless someone can find a A8 version that is verified to be the same as the 5200 version, I think we will be sticking with the 5200 version.

Montezumas Revenge is our winner!

I'm very fond of this game on the Colecovision and Atari computers/5200, but less so on the 2600. I mean, it's an amazing port considering the 2600's limitations, but thanks to inferior controls, graphics, and music, I'd just rather play one of the other ports instead. Even on those systems, it can be frustrating, but there's a real thrill in the race to the top while "Hall of the Mountain King" plays at an increasingly frenzied pace. If it were easier, it probably wouldn't be as heart-racingly fun.

Despite having a basically unbeatable record, it's likely we'll still be playing the original Pac-man once in a while, as it's one of the most common and beloved games for the system. Most players struggle to get to 30,000 on it as it really is quite difficult for a Pac-Man port, despite the bug that makes it super easy to roll once you get to the keys. Jr. and Ms. Pac-man were played last season, and are certainly in the mix for the future. Pac-Man Arcade is excellent, but I hesitate to bring it into the HSC as I don't believe the ROM has been made available (as is the programmer's right.) Super Pac-man, on the other hand, hasn't come up for a while and is an excellent candidate for coming back to the HSC soon.
