The only port of this game I can do any good at is the TI version. I don't think I've hit even 10k in this one, lol.
Ill grant you it can take several games before getting the hang of it enough to hit 50k or so. But after that, it stops being challenging, unfortunately.

I think there are some pretty big differences.. even in the map itself. Also, isn't the big Montezuma in the A8 version?
Yeah, a little quick research suggests there are at least two A8 versions, probably more. Unless someone can find a A8 version that is verified to be the same as the 5200 version, I think we will be sticking with the 5200 version.

The current HSC record for Montezumas Revenge was set by atariksi with a whopping 1,050,300 points. Bust it if you can for a bonus point!

This is just a suggestion: How about a different Pac-Man game? There are so many Pac-Man options for the 5200, and the record is unbeatable for the original Pac-Man anyway, meaning the record is set and can't be broken.
There is Pac-Man Arcade, Super Pac-Man, Jr. Pac-Man, and Ms. Pac-Man.
Despite having a basically unbeatable record, it's likely we'll still be playing the original Pac-man once in a while, as it's one of the most common and beloved games for the system. Most players struggle to get to 30,000 on it as it really is quite difficult for a Pac-Man port, despite the bug that makes it super easy to roll once you get to the keys.
Jr. and Ms. Pac-man were played last season, and are certainly in the mix for the future. Pac-Man Arcade is excellent, but I hesitate to bring it into the HSC as I don't believe the ROM has been made available (as is the programmer's right.) Super Pac-man, on the other hand, hasn't come up for a while and is an excellent candidate for coming back to the HSC soon.

I don't think anyone was using this, but, just to be sure, please don't use the "Extra Balls" option! This is the thing where you can press 1 on the keypad during the game to get 5 extra balls. Just stick with the 5 balls you were originally given. Thanks!

I checked, I don't have this game on cart, and my Old Guru designed flash cart needs a DLL that Win10 doesn't have. Might skip this one, or post a super low emulated attempt.
I'd encourage you to at least post a low-scoring emulation attempt. Also try eegt97's tips above for better controller emulation (thanks eegt97!)
Has anyone else found a good combination of emulators and settings that works well for them?

Welcome to round nine of this 5200 HSC season! Sinistar and Super Breakout were tied in the poll, so I ended up picking the original pack-in game, Super Breakout. We will be playing in Cavity Mode. Emulation is fine, as are custom controls. Pics preferred, but not required except for HSC wins and records.
