Season 2 5200 HSC Round 4 *Pitfall II: Lost Caverns*
the 5th ghost replied to darthkur's topic in 5200 High Score Club
I did it back in 2006. It was extremely difficult to do; especially since every time a mistake was made, I'd have to start the game over from the very beginning in the 1st cavern (which drove me nuts!) Here's a link to the thread, and below is the screenshot Old_thread :post #16 is where I announce the perfect score, and apparently it took around 33 minutes to pull off So far, I'm the only officially verified player to do it, (I taped my perfect game and had it verified by Twin Galaxies,) but I'm sure someone else has done it, or at least I would assume. But either way, it is definitely a challenge, and I'd love to see another gamer here pull it off one day. -

The perfect score for the 1st cavern is: 199,000 points The perfect score in the 2nd cavern is: 305,000 points Pulling off a perfect game: 504,000 points Once you gt used to the rythm of the rabid bat's flight pattern, timing your jump gets easier. Sometimes, you have to run away from it, then return to the screen to get a better shot of jumping over it, but it simply takes practice. Same with the ants, once you have the timing down, and you know where the ants are, they become the easiest obstacles to clear. Like I said before, it's the roaming frogs that I hate. In some cases, you can get them on the screen without getting close enough for them to track you. Let them jump off the screen before making a run for it. But in those cases where you have to jump them...you need perfect timing. Ypoui have to get close enough without them touching you, then you have to jump them as soon as they land in front of you. VERY HARD! The most paramount, is knowing the best route to take in order to find the Magic Basket, Magic Flute, Golden Rope, and the Flute Player. Then you need to find the special room where you escape the cavern, (once you find the special items,) thus finishing the game. I'll have to look, but I did a map of the route I took, which also takes you to all the gold bars. -
HSC Season 6 Week 31: Frogger II: Threeedeep!
the 5th ghost replied to Ze_ro's topic in 2600 High Score Club
Avoid the plane, and avoid the black butterflies and bat in the sky Good scores guys! I was gonna chime in about it rolling at 10K, but you figured that out already If I remember correctly, you enable the free frog if you clear the first board first without dying. -
Season 2 5200 HSC Round 4 *Pitfall II: Lost Caverns*

give me a can of raid for those freaking ants and i'll do better Yeah, and something for those damn bats with the erratic flight. The moving frogs were the worst for me. There are a few instances where you have to face them head on. They made me the most nervous. The ants are just a matter of timing. You have to jump early since they move so fast. The eratic bats...you can either jump them, or run right under them. Watch their flight pattern to see the spots. Jumping them is easiest. -

Not leaving, just no longer collecting I will keep my eyes peeled though, and if I turn up anything locally, I will post them here. So, hopefully, I'll still be able to help out those that are still collecting.
-
In a heartbeat I'd want it all back, but in reality, my collecting days are over.
-
Keeping the shelves. One is built in to the wall, one is a large bookcase, the other two are just Billys from Ikea. I pull the games to the front edge of the shelf. Dups and other stuff goes behind them.

The collection has been sold! I can't thank everyone enough for the sincere concern, kind words and generous offers. I had hoped to help out as many folks as possible, but in the end I couldn't turn down the offer I got. I apologize to those that were after certain pieces, please understand. (I will continue to be on the lookout ) Take care everyone!

Quick update... I'm still considering offers for the whole collection. But if don't get my target price, I will begin parting out. I was considering making items available by company (so it will be less daunting for me.) So, one week, I will post my Activision games. Best offer takes the game(s), then Apollo the next week, etc, etc. People that have standing offers for individual items at this time, those offers will be applied when that particular item is up for sale. Does this sound fair? Please comment or offer suggestions! Thanks!

Updated the first post with current pix took this morning. The Racing Pak is sold however. I didn't shoot pix of my loose controllers, and there may be a few other odds and ends like a purple Yars' Revenge t-shirt, but basically, this is it. Thanks! Please folks, be patient with me. I have a LOT to consider in the way of offers, and a few have offered to buy everything, so until I hear from them, (and if the price is right,) nothing else will be sold.

That actually cheered me up (a little) Being a bass player, I always loved that little bassline. Not the biggest Queen fan, but I always appreciated what they brought, and there will never be another frontman the likes of Freddy. FYI... At around the 2:30 mark of that song, if you play it backwards, (you need the record and a turntable,) there's an interesting little message!
-
Shhhh... I have eveyone believing that ones a "Tron Joystick" and the other is a "Kaboom trophy"
-
I also need to take updated pix. The ones that are up are a little old (I picked up more stuff since then) Thanks for the offers so far!
-
Thanks for the well wishes... I cleaned up my inbox, so there should be room now. I will respond this evening to them all. Thanks! Doug

Yep, I am selling my collection. PM with offers on whatever it is you want. Thanks!

That's nuts! Who'd have thunk it

Good luck! The score rolls at 100K and eventually the difficulty returns to easy and cycles back. With practice, you'll get there shadow460 One of my goals was to reach 1 million points, (which is very possible!) but I have retired from gaming.

space shuttle:A Journey into Space Commander screen
the 5th ghost replied to MMyers's topic in Atari 2600
Did it last year -
I noticed a couple other differences after closely comparing the two... on the front, the words: CONTAINS ONE CARTRIDGE is different between the two. The text cart's box has a font with a rounded, lower case looking "n", while the picture label box has the font with the pointed, upper case looking "N" On the back, the picture label box has a 1978 copyright and a the warranty info is in a shorter, but longer box. Whereas the text cart's box has no copyright and a smaller, more square warranty info box

The CIB Sears picture Gunslinger I own is just the same as the one bought by therealred5. It has the large size manual, (hard to find, and I bet unique to the picture cart,) and although I can't see the back of his box, mine is the one with the glued hanger style box; consistent with my other boxed Sears picture carts. Just two things to consider if you're trying to "franken" one together.

I've got a Star Ship PM me if interested

I need help from Hardcore heavy sixer collectors, Please..
the 5th ghost replied to brucebidder's topic in Atari 2600
The joysticks were packed in a long cardboard insert that housed both. The paddles, from my experience, came in the generic white box (with the word PADDLES in bold black) The switchbox came in a little bubble bag, the power supply came in a small white box (says for Video Pinball, Stunt Cycle, etc.) Gatefold Combat with warranty card, 9 game brochure, and white mail away card. System paperwork includes the correct 1977 manual, warranty cards, etc. The boxed paddles you talk about in the color box does not go. Even though it pictures the Atari logo paddles, these were usually store bought, and contained the regular style paddles with the word Paddles on them. Same with the long Joystick color box (the one that shows the football player) Hope this info helps
