Hello folks, How many fans are out there of Imagic's No Escape? I love this game! So far my personal best is 1,174,061 on this game. Post your best scores, I'd love to see how others have done on this game. Doug

What was the message? I have this game and am planning on playing it soon. What was your score when you got the message? Doug

Hi Todd, Thanks for the great tips! My best time so far is 5.87. Hopefully your tips will get that time lower but it seemed like I was already on the right track, just need to get the shift pattern down.

Poll: Who has the original heavy sixer ...
the 5th ghost replied to Rob Mitchell's topic in Atari 2600
Hi Rob, You are correct, I opened the joysticks and they have the springs. There is an indentation on the top of the stick where the hexagonal Atari label would be but they are missing on both joysticks. My system plays on channel 3 Doug -
I've been playing Dragster. I was never into this game till recently, my best so far is a 5.87 but I'm still trying to figure out how this game works. Also playing Pitfall!, Decathlon and Kung-Fu Master Doug

Wico also made a keypad for the 5200 to use with their joysticks. Doug

I can't pick an Activision game that truly sucks. Laser Blast is pretty mind numbing on any level and the least colorful of the Activision games. I mean, I'm sure is uses more color than Checkers but looking at a mainly black screen is boring. At least your ship could have made a sound when it was flying instead of only when you were crashing to your death! I think the "!!!!!!" when you max the score is David Cranes way of saying: "What the hell were you thinking?!?" Doug

I agree, Kaboom A is very hard! I'm still trying to catch Todd Rodgers Laser Blast is pretty easy, and boring! Doug

Poll: Who has the original heavy sixer ...
the 5th ghost replied to Rob Mitchell's topic in Atari 2600
I have a couple of those heavy 6'ers without the channel select switch on the bottom too. As a matter of fact the one I use every day is one. The serial is 34540 http://www.city-net.com/~groovy/atarif.jpg Note the dark gray AC adaptor. I still have the original box and controllers too! The joysticks have a different action than the later versions. The fire button clicks and has to be pushed farther down. Also the paddles have the Atari logo next to the rackets, they don't say "paddles" on them. I also have the set of Driving paddles the same way, with the Atari logo next to the race car. I also noticed the shielding for the plugs/wires on the controllers is a softer rubber and slightly thinner around the wires. Doug -
Pitfall is SUPER challenging to complete without losing any lives or tweaking those logs! So far my best game is 114,000 with no lives lost and 00:50 secs left. I once completed the game with 01:04 left but I tripped on a log knocking my score down to 113,995 Pitfall II is a blast and one of Activisions best but not nearly as challenging as the first Pitfall! I'm still searching for the 5200 version, I've never seen the extended maze. Doug

No, the three loose carts were all indevidually priced 1.99. The bags of carts were stapled shut and priced at 2.99 Also, the Goodwill dates their pricetags. The dates were different on the bags from the loose carts. Call it laziness, not caring, different person pricing stuff that day, whatever! I find it amusing. If prices go up due to the internet, so be it. There will always be exceptions that slip through. I will never complain, I owe most of my collection to thrift stores. I've watched prices go up over the years but we're only talking an extra buck or two. If I have to pay a little extra for that game I don't have then oh well! I do know this for certain, no matter how many games get put out regardless of the title, each game is USUALLY priced the same. So even if they put out 50 carts for 3.00 a piece I don't mind because eventually one of those may be Crazy Climber. I do remember a couple months ago when I showed up right when the lady was putting out like 100 loose Atari carts on the shelf. I started helping her, of course checking each title first . All the games were marked 1.99, I got my Gremlins cart that day. The only games marked 2.99 were the Pac-Man carts LOL. I guess they thought they would cash in on the popluar Pac- Man name, obviously they never played the Atari 2600 version! At least at a thrift store you have the option to closely inspect the games in person rather than going by some internet picture and some other persons decription on eBay. Not to mention shipping fees, post office blunders, bogus sellers. I don't even consider gas expenses because I'd be out anyway. I love hunting for these old games! Doug "Mr. Atlantis" Korekach

Yes, the Goodwill can be wierd with their pricing of Atari stuff. Here's my recent Goodwill experience from last week... I was on my way home from work and just had that Atari vibe. I stopped at the Goodwill on the way home and had a look. First I found a stack of Nintendo NES games that were complete with their instruction books for 1.99 each. Good, not good enough! Looking at the other end of the shelf I find three loose Atari carts! Common games, Defender, Ice Hockey and Missile Command. Same price, 1.99 each. A little disapointing. I didn't give up, on the next shelf down, JACKPOT! Two plastic bags filled with Atari carts, 2.99 for each bag! For six bucks I bought 38 loose carts. There was a great selection of games but none that I didn't already have. The interesting ones were Commando and Kung-Fu Master. The nice part was that every game worked when I tested them at home, even all the Activision ones fired up the first try, I didn't have to clean a single cart. Anyway, I thought it was funny that they would sell a few loose carts for 1.99 each but then sell 39 carts for 6.00 Doug

Hey folks! First off, MY take on Todd Rogers: simply a great person, super talented gamer but most importantly a great friend, period. Still looking forward to meeting him in person! This talk of an East/West tournament sounds like fun too. I'd be very interested in attending but mainly to meet all of you other gamers in person (Ron Corcoran, David Yancy, Robert Mruczek, etc) How's your Kaboom! game coming along David?? Doug

Star Ship - red border on end text/number label
the 5th ghost replied to Room 34's topic in Rarity Guide
Hi, I have the all red 01 Combat, 03 Star Ship and the all orange 11 Indy 500. I used to have the all red 02 Air Sea Battle and all orange Street Racer but can't find them at the moment I bet the hardest ones to find would be the all green 41 Surround, 51 Blackjack and the all blue 61 Basic Math. I do at least have all of the silver border versions with the gatefold boxes: http://www.city-net.com/~groovy/ataria.jpg - top shelf, far left Take care, Doug -

Ah, the "Golden Bomb" trophy! Here's the story... One year for a Halloween party my friend Mike decided to have "The First Annual Kaboom! Tournament". Partygoers signed up to take part and the matchups were randomly picked, single elimination. I supplied the paddles and the Kaboom! game. (I remember spilling beer on the Kaboom! box ) In the final match, it was me vs. Mike. He was able to muster around 3,000 some points. I decided to just stop playing after getting 100,421 points, I was freaking everyone out. As you can see, my prize was the "Golden Bomb" Mike has pictures somewhere, I was dressed up as the Mad Bomber. The next year's Halloween party saw "The Second Annual Kaboom! Tournament" where the prize was "The Golden Bucket". I couldn't attend the party that year for some reason and Mike won the tournament. I told him we have to have a Bomb/Bucket unifying match but I don't think he wants to Doug

Hello, I was borrowing my friend's digital camera the other day to shoot some pictures and decided to take a few quick shots of some of my Atari collection. I apologize for the blurriness in some of them (bad lighting). I hope to take better pictures in the near future and also take pictures of some of my other stuff, Sears Tele-Games, 5200 collection, 7800 collection, Activision patches, ect. http://www.city-net.com/~groovy/ataria.jpg http://www.city-net.com/~groovy/atarib.jpg *note in this picture the two Atlantis boxes http://www.city-net.com/~groovy/ataric.jpg http://www.city-net.com/~groovy/atarid.jpg *sorry for the glare on the 7800 carts. The cart without the end label is Stargunner b/w label. Yes, the Xonox game has the rare cap in place. http://www.city-net.com/~groovy/atarie.jpg http://www.city-net.com/~groovy/atarif.jpg *I normally keep my wires better organized! Thats my 5200 under the dust cover. http://www.city-net.com/~groovy/atarig.jpg *Some misc. controllers I had lying around at the moment Take care folks! Doug

Hi Joy, As far as the high score on Kaboom! diff. A goes, mine just happens to be the highest score verified by Ron at Twin Galaxies at the moment. There's no doubt in my mind that many others can beat it and that Todd Rogers obviously could since his personal best is far beyond what I have sent Twin Galaxies As far as Kaboom! goes, my personal favorite since 1981 (I'm 27 now), I am always up for the challenge of defending my scores I'd love to meet Todd someday, besides talking Atari games, I'd probably end up asking him if he still had that cool Activision t-shirt he's sporting in that picture with Barbie Benton Doug

Here goes nothing!
