Isn't that Eddie Murphy? AX No. Her name is Pam and she weighs 520.0 pounds. She was actually the inspiration for the Atari 5200 and why it's so big. I won't tell you where she can fit two controllers

I would say it's a crap shoot and it depends on the individual unit and not the model IMO. That being said, If an Atari works today after thirty years, chances are it will work for a long time.

Yes... I remember it being hard to put back together though. Mine had a wire that needed to be soldered back on to the fire button. Good luck.

Or your beer? I hadn't thought of that... I think I'll have a beer and give it some thought.

That's a good idea. I couldn't think of a good way to cover the back but, LED's for brake lights and dual exhaust pipes coming out of the back would kick ass! Especially since it would go along with the Pole Position themed paddle controller I made.

I did this a while back. Just thought I would share.

Be Careful... I got mine with no sound or video or controller (cheap). I opened it, touched everything, removed chips and put them back in. When I put it back together, plugged it in and turned it on and it worked! I got lucky. I have since modified a NES controller to work and adjusted the 3 or 4 pots inside so the lines line up. I couldn't be happier with it. Good luck.

Thank you. I will do this.

I have two of these TI-99/4a systems so I've narrowed the problem down to the video modulator box. I get the video but no sound. Is this common? Any ideas?

I like this idea. I wish I would have thought of it.

The Space Invaders look delicious.

What about all the batteries in those carts?
Ataritard replied to fiddlepaddle's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I got this Zelda game from Ebay. I assumed the battery exploded but I can't exclude the possibility that it just got wet. (Maybe some kid had it in his pocket and jumped in a pool:) The funny thing is that the game still worked... until I made it into a clock. -
Have you ever lost sleep because you couldn't stop playing a game?
Ataritard replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
It was with Mario 64 when it first came out. When I noticed the sun was coming up, I was swimming in circles with the fish. Bloop..... Bloop..... Bloop..... -
What is your favorite 2600 Space Invaders type shooter?
Ataritard replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
Space Invaders all the way. -
Was the Atari 2600 your first video game system?
Ataritard replied to Rhindle The Red's topic in Poll Forum
We got an Atari 2600 after my dad's friends convinced him that he had to get one for his kids. Space Invaders was the first video game I ever played... as soon as my dad was done playing. -
Open the console and look at the part that your power adapter goes into. One side has a clear plastic piece that you can pop off. I had one that acted similar to yours and all I had to do was bend the metal piece up a little so that it made better contact.

I think with all the different styles of controllers out there, and available to every one, it's not unfair to be able to use any controller, with any feature, that you want. If not, then there is no definitive place to draw the line.

Here's mine. 72R4BR A3 84 5029086 (No expansion port)

How to remove yellowing from an old Atari case
Ataritard replied to mimo's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I thought my Atari 800xl was supposed to be yellow. This is something I'll have to try now. -
5200 VS 7800: Which System has the Better Library?
Ataritard replied to Dr Manhattan's topic in Atari 5200
Very good question. I'll agree with the majority of posters so far, it's the 5200 for me as well. Granted we are in the 5200 section after all. I think to be fair the OP should ask the same question in the 7800 section. -
I was going to build a little lamp with a regular controller a super bright led and a lampshade. After seeing this, my idea doesn't seem nearly as cool as I thought.

It's perfect. Nicely done. Now make the couch look like an Atari 2600.
