Interesting. It may have had a sticker on the bottom at one time, but I have never seen that on the inside before. Thanks.

Well, I succeeded... in breaking it further. Oh well, I have another one that works. I can use the one that I broke for parts for some other project.

I was just making a couple of observations. Sorry they were confusing. So it works on channel 3 and it was a contrast and brightness issue?

If you are going to mod your Atari and your tv has a Video or Input button on it then you won't need a remote and you are home free. (If your tv has a Menu button on it then you wouldn't need a remote to do a channel scan.)

1. Did it display a picture and have sound on the lcd tv? (Do you know the Atari is good?) 2. What brand is your new old tv? Have you tried all the channels? (I seem to remember a particular brand tv needing to be on 96 or something, it was Proscan or something like that.) 3. Do you know the tv is good?

I don't bother to alphabetize mine but I do organize mine by maker and I stack them in columns so the labels are horizontal and easier to read. I also make separate stacks for paddle games.

please help a lazy idiot hack a first gen psp
Ataritard replied to toptenmaterial's topic in Emulation
Glad you got it going. Whenever you get some time, Would you care to give a basic rundown of what you did? That site that does a good job of explaining but I'm still unclear on a couple things. Put it in lazy idiot terms if you can for me, though I'm sure I'm not the only lazy idiot here that wants to mod their PSP-1001. -
Vectrex - Sound, Game Plays, but small white dot?
Ataritard replied to MonkeyMagic's topic in Vectrex
I might have used a little screw driver to pop out the ones that were hard to reach, but I didn't remove the board at all. As a matter of fact, I just popped them out and put them back in. I didn't bother cleaning them. I just got lucky that it worked. Good luck. -
Vectrex - Sound, Game Plays, but small white dot?
Ataritard replied to MonkeyMagic's topic in Vectrex
Nice score. I would suggest reseating the chips only because it's easy to do and it's how I fixed mine. There was another thread recently where the guy repaired his power / volume knob to make his work. Here is the thread http://www.atariage....but-no-picture/ Hope you get it going. -
Can you post a picture of it?
-
Thanks Rex. That's good advise. I will try that.

This is pretty cool. I'm sure it wasn't easy to do. Thanks for your trouble.

I don't know if it was dropped or if these are just prone to go bad. It used to work. I took it apart and poked around on it but didn't find anything obviously wrong with it. Any help or advise would be appreciated. It's the kind that has two jacks on it. One for video and one for audio. I am not optimistic about getting this working again but I figure asking the hardware crowd here is my best shot. I can take pictures of it taken apart if you think it will help.

No superglue... the 72 metal pins ended up being rigid enough to hold it in place. The angle of the connector is as far as I could bend it and where it stayed. The trick was the angle the cartridge had to be to work every time. I put it all back together except for the top and turned it off and on while moving the cartridge back and forth until I found the right angle. That determined where I cut the hole in the top. A dust cover is a good idea but at the time I figured it would be to much trouble. I keep a game stuck in it for display and to keep the dust out of it.

Sorry to hear, it does take some time and finesse. You must not know your own strength. The back has to bend out so it takes some coercion. I messed up the first one I tried this on too.

5200 controller wico with y adapter question
Ataritard replied to The Retroist's topic in Atari 5200
An adapter would have to be made to go from 9 pins to 15 pins. You will be missing the start pause and reset buttons. They could be added to the adapter I suppose. -
I'll do my best to describe how to do it. It's just 4 thin pieces of plastic. Use an ink pen that barely fits down in there. Insert pen strait down into it until the pen touches the first piece of plastic. Hold it vertically above a solid table. (The idea is to use the pen to knock the plastic piece cleanly out of the way without pushing to far.) Firmly hold the pen vertically, just above the 72 pin connector, and hit the table. This should dislodge the first piece. Remove ink pen, let the piece of plastic fall out and repeat. (Let me know if that doesn't make sense.)

I couldn't make the game face the other way. I moved everything to the back so I could turn the whole thing around to see what game I'm playing. I would have moved the power and RF cords to the back if I could have done it easily, but having everything in the front was kind-of the idea.

I did some research and found that the GAME GENIE doesn't work without modification in the official NES Toploader which is probably why you and bomberpunk are asking. The GAME GENIE will work in mine as it is an original Nintendo. I just cut and bent the original 72 pin connector up. If you want more details on exactly how to do it let me know. It will take a bit more explaining. I also had to extend the controller wires because they were not long enough to get to the other side. I took some topless pics like you requested (you pervert).

I've got a few more of these mods I want to show you all so here is another one I did a while back. I modified the 72 pin connector to point straight up and moved the front parts to the back. It works well. What do you think?

Looks very clean. It could double as a night light.

That is a desirable box. It would be worth picking up just for the box only if it were in better shape. That is not the original console that came in that box.
