I found a n Intellivoice in box with registration card, manual, and bubblewrap. It looks like it's never been used... all clean and stuff....
Anyway it was $9.99, when I removed the goodwill sticker it revealed the original Jafco price sticker with two prices on it..... $89.95, and $74.94.

I went into my favorite local used computer shop just a couple days ago. The as is section had stacks of Apple II floppy drives, Commodore drives, lots of apple color composite monitors, and a beige TI 99/4a in box... and stacks of apple //c's all with PS units...
the systems were all $12 each and the drives were labeled $6.95 a pop..
I bought one //c with power supply since I didn't have one for my //c... bought the Apple 5.25" drive that was specially made to go with the //c, bought an external 800k floppy drive for my 512ke mac(complete with a retro apple sticker on top of it), and I bought the beige TI 99/4a.
Man.. I swear ever since they st arted putting the stuff out on the rack I've had to exersize a whole lot more self control when shopping there.. otherwise I'd shop myself out of all my living space! Wuhah!
I also stopped by a pawnshop I've known about for ages but never think to stop at..... and was very impressed.... very clean and tidy.... ohhhh.... and the entire far wall to the right and the couter in front was entierly devoted to video games.... they had all sorts of NES, dreamcast, genesis, etc. video games... mosf ot if was very clean! very fair prices...
I loaded up on Genesis games... prices were $1 to $5 each.
Lose:
Beat Wrestler
PacMan 2 The New Adventures
Kid Chameleon
Boxed:
Beware of the ultimate evel of WARLOCK
Shaddow of the Beast II
F-15 Strike Eagle II
Dark Castle
Klax
Air Diver
Oh... and one Dreamcast game in original jewel case with inserts:
Armada

Oh come on.... what's one.... more... system.... ?Yeah I said that about 20 systems ago...
Tempest
What do you know... same here.

I now have two TI 99/4A systems. I have no need for the second one, but it was different version, the cheaper plastic one. I paid like $12 for it complete in box at a used computer store yesterday.
..Man... I still don't have an A/V cable for the TI 99/4a.... just the RF switch.
-
The problem was the need for a new switch box. As to why the old switch box worked with some and not others... I never tried to investigate further once I made a new switchbox for the system back when I first posted this topic.... 6 years ago....of cource I don't even use RF on my 5200 now.... I installed the s-video mod from 8bitdomain as soon as it was released.

I got my replacement qwak label from bratwurst yesterday.. Its NICE! Much better than the one the game comes with already.

Oh come on.... what's one.... more... system.... ?
Totally.... whenever I find a game for some system I don't have.. It becomes my excuse to get the system.... I know it's really bad habbit... and it's landed me with a lot of stuff...which has taken a lot of juggling to get it all setup in the small space I have... but hey, it's all in the name of fun.

I just found this on ePay, maybe cheaper than Best.http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=220112111832
Actually thats WAY cheaper. Hell of a deal there folks, You best buy them up before they are gone with them being openly advertised here at AA like this and with Adventure 2 driving the prices of 5200 hardware threw the roof.
isn't that kind of missing the numeric keypad? If you're going to rebuil the controller, you should go all out and replace all the parts.
I know when I first got my 5200 sticks, the numeric keypads on them had buttons that would not work...oh and the fire buttons, they didn't work either.... Seeing as they may not be available some day..... I figure going all out and replacing all parts would make it less likely that I would find myself with a problem and no way to fix it.
-
I'm pretty happy with my controllers which I rebuilt with new flex circuits and button pads from best electronics.
The y-adaptor for using Wico sticks still requires that you have a working 5200 controller for the numeric keypad and system buttons(start, pause, reset).
Parts to make your own y-adaptor should be easily purchased at any decent electronics store.

I like to keep all my CD games in their original jewel cases. If not just because they are more likely to get little scratches when put into those CD books you see in stores, but because I like keeping original packaging for all my games.
As far as storing my CD games.... well, my Sega CD and Saturn longboxes are all on display on shelves.... I keep all my standard size CD's in little file-boxes I bought at ikea.... I have a bunch of red and blue ones...
I also use them for 5.25" floppies... They can be bought new, and unlike those old flip boxes used for 5.25" floppies, waste very little space over what they actually hold... also they let less light in than those old flip boxes since most flip boxes used transparent tops...

Hrmm.... a big part of my collection is all my Sonic stuff...
I mean... I have most of them with boxes....I've imported from Japan and Europe just to get games that weren't released here, I collect plush toys..some which had to be imported from japan... And I have a complete Sonic the Hedgehog Comic book collection(archie comics)....
Probably my favorite part of my collection is one of the two plushies I've ever found at goodwill, which would be this one.

Hi,
I just tried to change my personal picture and now I can't get it to work.
It says the limits are 150x150 and 100k. My file is 150x150 and is 7k according to my server.

That looks like a good sized room... hopefully it's got at least two outlets on every wall.... and doesn't share it's breaker with too many other rooms...... nothiing quite as annoying as losing your game in the rec room because someone turned on the microwave in the kitchen while the fridge was kicking in.(or in my case, I knocked my sister out of WoW by plugging the vacume in my bedroom.
-
Well,
That doesn't really have to be "missed out".... no... maybe you "just havent yet played".
I mean.... that's what's so great about the used market and emulation and all that... so maybe you didn't buy it new... It's out there... you can still get it... unless you're dead of cource... Are you dead yet?
so.... no, I really havn't missed out on any video games.

well heck.... rewound the tape all the way, held start, turned the 800XL on, hit return counted three seconds and hit play, and it loaded successfully! totally rockin' awsome!
-
well, there's no basic cartridge inserted when I get the ready prompt...no cartridge inserted at all.
I put my Serpentene tape in the drive(only tape I have).
Held the start key down, flipped power on.
it beeped
I pressed play
hit return
It started playing tape
beeping...
then two quick beeps at a different tone, I turned around to look at the monitor, and the screen read:
BOOT ERROR
BOOT ERROR
READY
Now I don't know what to do next......oh also the tape continues to run on play.
-
Well,
I'm getting this feeling that using a Sega Master System a/v cable isn't going to work quite right.... cuz I'm only seeing black and white... must be using luma for the pin that the SMS puts out composite on.
Otherwise... I can run cartridges now.... I have the computer connected to the tape drive and the tape drive connected to the floppy drive and everything running together.... if I have the floppy off I get the "Ready" prompt when I turn the 800 on.... but if I have the floppy on I get "BOOT ERROR" scrolling down my screen continuously with a beep every single line.
um... is there a list of commands somewhere?

Hi!

So... I'm just now actually plugging cables in on my Atari 800XL w/ 1010 tape drive and a 1050 floppy drive which I've had for a couple months maybe now.
I'm used to computers that are picky about what order different devices are connected in chains to them. Does the Atari 8-bit not care if I put the tape drive or floppy drive or whatever else in any particular order? I see nothing online to suggest so, but I thought I should ask.
Also, anybody wanna hook me up with some floppies with some utilities? Like I have no floppy based software.... just cartridges and tapes, so I have no way of telling if my 1050 even works. Maybe I buy modem too.... any flash card readers out there for the 8-bit?

I hate shopping at Wal-Mart for that very reason, asking to get the game out of the case. I think the best place to go is FYE. Their used games are cheaper than EB's, they are in MINT condition, and there aren't eight stickers on the case.
the fye near us is insane with its prices. im sorry, but 24 dollars for dead or alive volleyball is a rip off.
Hrmm... I got a gift card for FYE last christmas... went in to find out that they were getting ready to move to a different lcation in the mall... and that once they moved they were not going to be carrying video games at all.. oh well... I bought some games from them that one time... first time I'd ever even been into it... apparently it was probably the last time too.

Hi,
I have a Coleco Adam without printer. I don't really want to try to get the printer since it takes up so much space. If I were to pick out a power supply to rig up to hook up to the Adam sans printer, how beefy should it be? Like, how many watts should it be rated for? I'd imagine without the printer it wouldn't need to be as high as the one in the printer.

I'd sure like to find one of those Atari to TI game port adaptors.... I have a bunch of of games and the power supply, the AV cable doesn't seem all that hard to pick up either... but I've posted wanted messages for a game controll adaptor in the past and never gotten any replies.
