Found my latest pet hate on the DS
Rockin' Kat replied to Tickled_Pink's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I've been on forums dedicated to import gaming... and sometimes they have a rule against using "Jap" as an abreviation, instead suggesting Jp. Check this out. The Racial Slur Database Anyway... On the topic of story telling... What I hate is when I have to go through the same dialog/cut scenes every damn time I die and have to fight a boss again. Super Mario Galaxy is rather annoying on this. You CANT skip the damn cut scenes. It's fun the first time, but I just don't understand why I can't push a button to skip it and get to the game play right away the second time around. -
Yay! I just saw this after checking updating my wii... oh by the way. I'm using a USB keyboard in the internet channel to type this!

I have a friend who was really pissed off because FYE bought out Suncoast with plans of either turning them into FYE's where they are not already and closing the ones where FYEs are already located. Suncoast carries a lot more merchandise per square foot of sales floor than FYE and had a lot of anime and other movies and stuff.... FYE sucks. Last holiday season I received an FYE gift card as a secret santa gift at work. When I got to the FYE I bought some games with the card.... they would have been horribly over priced if not for the fact that they were "on clearance" and when I got the register I got a speal about how they're moving locations... but oh... they won't carry video games anymore after they move to their new location elsewhere in the South Center mall in Tukwilla. No loss there. That's probably like one onf only two or three times I've ever been in an FYE.

I used one of my Apple USB keyboards to enter all the wii numbers from the list pinned to the top of this forum. Being able to get it in via ten-key made it go much faster than typing them in with the wiimote...
-
I've added everyone on the list so far.
-
As long as you keep your Wii system up to date whenever nintendo sends you update alerts, you should be able to use a USB keybord to enter the numbers.... just plug it into the back of the wii... USB keyboards now work in shop channel and in the message board(but not in the internet channel yet unfortunatly).

It also works in messageboard. -
I don't even bother with WEP. Encription slows down the connection. I just turn off SSID broadcasting and turn on MAC address filtering. So a user has to know the ID of my router and be able to fake a MAC address they don't know off the bat. Sure there are ways one could get through this, but with the three or so other networks around me which are completely open, I just don't see mine grabbing that much attention. The Wii is the only wi fi device I have which can do WPA anyway.... my PowerBook is too old to accept any card capable of something beyond 802.11b and WEP and the DS also can't do WPA of cource. I wouldn't mind knowing just how they say that would work that way. I'd think signal strenght would rely entierly on the size, power, and directional focus of the antennas.

Hey, that sucks about ebay now allowing you to promote other online payment options such as google check out. So, as a seller, how do the fees on your google checkout compare to those on PayPal? I'll never accept credit cards on paypal because I don't like the fact that in order to do so you have to accept paying fees on ALL transactions. You'd think they make enough cash off of screwing people by locking their accounts over "suspiciouse activity" and all the interest they accrew on balances users leave in their accounts.

I did not know the SMS had a trackball.. know offhand of any games which supported it? ...oh there was a mouse released for the Genesis... but that's not 8-bit..
-
Well, you can use a Commodore 64 mouse on anything that can use an Atari 2600 joystick. The 1530 model emulates a joystick as it is.. you move left and it sends the left button signal to the system.. same for other directions... The 1531 model is a real mouse, but can be put into joystick emulation mode by holding down one of the buttons when you turn the system on... I can't remember which one though.. but there's only two of them... just try each one and see which one it is........... though I think it was the left button. Won't be variable speed though.

I found one of these today at a Goodwill for $19.99, the matched set...not just one half or the other... In pretty much like new condition. Nifty. -
I submited a scan of a very similar photo off my NES box to old-computers.com stupid scans a few years ago. I think the kid at the side of the TV is blissfully admiring the lovely faux wood grain paneling on the side of the TV set while waiting for his turn. Most marketing pictures that show people playing game systems are painfully retarded.

I have three. I grabed one at an NWCGE event last year off a table with a free sign on it... only to find that I'd actually grabed two when I got home. the third one came with my Adventure II for 5200 cartridge...oh... there was also an Adventure II magnet in there as well. I have the two I got at the NWCGE event on the fridge.. the others are still in the bag with the game cartridge with my other 5200 games.

How much did all of that run you? Oh golly..... how much did it run me.... ummm.... my reciept totals at Tukwilla RePC have had a way of being higher than expected ever since they started putting out the good stuff.... I think I left behind stacks of Apple II floppy drives, A TI 99/4a in box, and a few Apple //c computers...... oh as well as a few Apple color composite video monitors..... and lots of other odd things that just tempt me way way too much. Anyway that lot lets see here: um.... $83.47 after sales tax....before that it ws $76.65 I can't remember exactly what I paid on each item.... I just know they seemed like ok prices per item... I ripped the tags off as soon as I got things home and the reciept just lists all the items as "Vintage As-Is" in the description column. On other notes... it sounds like it might not be too hard to fix what's wrong with the Atari 800. -
well... on 800 it's a socket at the end of the cable to the pins on the board and when I had it open....it looked like it was about as firmly seated as possible.. I tried pressing really hard on the non-functional buttons when I first found the keys didn't work... That didn't do anything. so.... these 4051's........ their's two of them in the 800, 800XL, and 130XE? How would I identify them? If it's just pulling out and plugging in socketed IC's that's certainly something I can handle that as long as I can find them.

Hey I just picked up an Atari 800... I played some of my cartridges on it.. seems to work ok... then I turn it on without any cartidges and it brings up some "memo pad" thing.... so I start typing... and find out that the only keys on the keyboard which appear to work are: I L tab reset option select start Just enough to run games.. but rather dissapointing to me otherwise.... I turned it off and popped the bottom off and could see no connections that looked like they were loose... mind I didn't remove any boards..... wasn't sure wher I would start... nore is there really a whole lot I can do other than try changing out the keyboard with another one (gun-shot trouble shooting style)..which I don't have access to. This computer has three 16K RAM cards and one 10K ROM card in the expantion slot... I'm just wondering if anyone has seen a keyboard failure like this before in the 800... where just the system buttons and maybe a couple alpha keys work and everything else is just dead.... and if it's likely to be something other than the keyboard it self. I already have a 130XE and an 800XL so I'm not sure if I should even bother or not with this.... I hate it when things I find turn out defective.

I went into a local used computer store looking to get rid of some junk and ended up buying more stuff than I got rid of. Found it all in the AS IS section.... Note all the letter I's and L's on the TV.... aparently the keyboard on that Atari 800 is screwy... it only registers I L tab reset option select and start. none of the other buttons work...... though it does play games and work with the joystick... I find it funny that some of my XE game cartridges that say they require an XE or XL system to run seem to work ok on this 800.. inside the 800's expantion compartment are three 16k cartrdiges(two are just bare cards, one is in its cartridge housing), and one 10K ROM cartridge. oh... all the boxed games are for Amiga.... ...and that thing in front of boxed games... it's a Kensington Mac System Saver... it snaps onto the top of the Mac 128K, 512K, 512Ke, or Plus. It is a surge suppressor... and also it has a fan in it which pulls air up through the Mac when in use... in an effort to better cool the system since these first models didn't have any fans and relied on convection cooling(which probably wasn't enough given how many older Macs I've seen with video issues due to cold solderjoints on the analog board) -
Hi, I have a CC3 for my Intellivision, but I do not have any duplicate cartridges canibalize for a cartridge shell to put the CC3 in. I'm looking for a cheap common INTV cartridge... needs to be one with the door and phillips head screws on the back(not one with the security screws, or the one with no door at all) Would be shipping to 98042. Thank you.

Well, I found myself an adaptor finally.
-
Well I've edited my wanted post to be looking for a composite video/audio cable. I hate soldering. My hand always gets shakey and I end up making a big mess. Though I think I might just stick with the 130XE in the long run.
-
I started a post in another forum on another website.. but since it seems to have gone from a "this sucks" thread, to an "I'm trying to figure out something weird" thread, I figure I oughta bring it over to a busier forum. first message second message: A note: I have a request for a chroma/luma/audio cable up in the wanted section.
