What kind of joystick is this?
Rockin' Kat replied to Rockin' Kat's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Oh and it has a switch on front that switches beetween M and J...whatever that's for. -
I picked this joystick up at a used computer store. At first glance I thought it was an Apple II joystick but I can say for certain, that while it has the same kind of plug, it is not an Apple II joystick. I honestly have no idea what it's for. It looks to have two button signals, with button one on both the stick and the base. It is analog and has auto centering that can be turned off.... I see no decernable dials, siders, or screws to calibrate this joystick.... maybe the system it's for has auto calibration at game start?

Hey I just wanted to say I got my 7800 repaired for $20. When I got it back, not only did the power button work perfectly, but the pause, select, and reset buttons all worked much better no need to put any pen caps in or felt or whatever.... no moving buttons... nah.... the buttons had to be cut open and cleaned with a special contact cleaner because they were all heavily oxidized. Just thought I'd post a follow up as to how this issue was resolved. e-mail number one: 2nd reply

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
Rockin' Kat replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
This is not a thrift find, nore are these games... but I still think it's rather cool... I recently found a bulk disk phone order service that sells both DS/DD 3.5" floppies and DS/DD 5.25" floppies unformatted or formatted..... I bought like 200 unformatted DS/DD 3.5" floppies from them at 29 cents each... Anyway, enough of that... I have a *few* game disk images to write to new floppies on my Apple IIgs right now... -

Unfortunately, no. The carts are just a bit too tall to fit in the drawers. They'd be absolutely perfect if they were only a little taller. ..Al I have some Iris Brand stackable drawers that hold NES carts endlabel up. Pictures here Those pictures are a bit outdated though. they only show two drawers full of NES games, I've actually filled three drawers with NES games and have a few more in the 4th drawer. I also took the wheels off because they seemed to be causing the tower to lean back. I have all my GBA, Game Gear, and Lynx stuff in the three short drawers. The only real problem I have with them is the bottom one is a little difficult to open. I think that might be because they're sitting on carpet.

Help identify an old Sega Genesis game...
Rockin' Kat replied to Ziggy_Stardust's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Since you know that it was a Data East game, maybe you should try using Digital Presses searchable online rarity guide. Just set the system to Genesis and Set Data East as developer and leave everything else blank... then try it again with Data East as Manufactuer. -
by the way, when I say best I mean best electronics.... I ment to link that.

Yikes: I killed my only BALLBLAZER cart to get a POKEY for my CUTTLE CART 2. Ended up killing the BALLBLAZER and the POKEY chip in the process. Now I have no sound in Ballblazer. <sigh> What is all this talk of killing carts for Pokey? Best sells Pokey chips for $5. Nutty people.

Wireless NES and SNES Controllers?
Rockin' Kat replied to Bivotar's topic in Classic Console Discussion
According to their website, they're working on a wireless NES arcade stick similar to the advantage. Anyway, I got pairs of both NES and SNES controllers and I think they're pretty nice. -
... if you don't have an older Mac with a floppy drive and Disk Copy. Of cource, at this point I don't even need another computer since I can take the IIgs online to get stuff. I'd offer to make you some OS disks for cost of floppies but I don't have any spare at the moment. I really need to order some. I beleive the guys at A2central offer GS OS on floppies, though I think their fee is the max legally allowed.

Does gaming run in your family?
Rockin' Kat replied to Brad2600's topic in Modern Console Discussion
No one else in my family really plays video games, so no. -
I love Astroblast. It was pluged in my 2600 when I found it at Goodwill.

Top of NES case: Smooth or Textured
Rockin' Kat replied to Rockin' Kat's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Huh? Since when are you real man's NES? Strange... Strange.. :-P Also, what's a real man? -
Hey, My NES, which I have had since 1987 has a smooth surface on the top side of it's case. So have most the NES systems I've bought and traded. However a few years ago I bought one from a friend that had a textured surface on it's top side. Well This week I got another one just like this at a thrift store and for some reason I feel strangley compelled to ask, is the top side of your Frontloading NES Smooth or Textured? Have there been any other variances in NES frontloader appearance/design?

It's not back, it just never left Marketplace and Auction Central.

Hey... Ok, I got a bunch of boxed Sega CD games from a thrift today.... They are all in very nice condition, except that some of the game disks have barcode stickers stuck on their label sides. Now... seeing as I typically scratch stickers off and that would be a good way to put a nice scratch in the label side of the disk(thus rendering the disk to frisbee status).. I was wondering if anyone here has a suggestion on how to get these stickers off. Could I soak the disks in Goo Gone or something? or could that damage the disk somehow?
-
My NES collection is my largest collection at about 125 games... no where near complete, but it is my largest. I don't really worry too much about boxes, though I do like it when I find boxed games.

Is There a Way To Play Back-Ups on a Saturn?
Rockin' Kat replied to Tempest's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I remember counting 21 pins... but I couldn't for the life of me get the thing to work. I've actually considered having someone else look at it, but don't really know who that'd be. -
Is There a Way To Play Back-Ups on a Saturn?
Rockin' Kat replied to Tempest's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I probably have a model 2. I still have the mod.... actually I have two of the things... I figure, maybe some day I'll get another saturn.... but it's a little awkward going into the store and asking to open their systems to see which revision they have. -

oh yeah.. and I had to be added to an e-mail list to alert me to when they had it in stock, it's usually out of stock untill they get enough interested parties to place an order for them. -
Is There a Way To Play Back-Ups on a Saturn?
Rockin' Kat replied to Tempest's topic in Classic Console Discussion
There was a mod I bought for my Saturn in an attempt to run backups... it was very cheap.... unfortunantly for me though I ended up removing it because I couldn't get the stupid thing to work...probably didn't have a Saturn that was compatable with it. The instructions were a little strange though... I may have not installed it properly, but I'll never know. I got it from Jandaman's -
Curious about Classic Computer Game Carts....
Rockin' Kat replied to Blackjack's topic in Classic Console Discussion
@commodore fast loader cart: Why use a fastloader cart, when JiffyDOS is so much easier? (and still available new) @c64 carts: I have one C64 cart... it doesn't work though, I've tried it in both my C64 and my SX-64 and it doesn't show any sign of life. I'd like to get some working C64 carts.
