  1. erm... which model Genesis and Sega CD do you have?

If you have a model 1 Genesis, you will need to get a stereo mini plug cable to go from the front headphones jack on the Genesis to the mix port on the back of whichever model Sega CD you have and then take the audio from the stereo RCA outputs on the back of the Sega CD unit.

If you have a Model 2 Genesis and a Model 2 Sega CD, then the audio mixing is done throught the expantion port and all you need to do is use hook the AV cable to the back of the Genesis as both the Genesis's sound and the Sega CD's sound will be coming from there, mixed together.

  2. I like strategy guides. They keep me from going balistic and smashing things like cartridges and disks when I get stuck. :D (well, acctually I don't need them to do that....though I would have sold most of my video games long ago and just said @#$ it for all video games if I couldn't peek into a hint book of some sort when I got stuck)

  3. The ending for Sega Master System Rampage had the characters doing something... I can't remember what but I know I thought it was a cool ending sequence. :)

That's too bad the NES version just flashed the screen over again. I've never played NES Rampage (Ralph the wolf is my fav charactor to play as so that version just sucks) :P

  4. I've reached the ending in both Sega Master System Rampage and N64 Rampage World Tour. :) In fact I have an N64 Memory card with a save file that's on the last day. If I play through it I can see the ending sequence oveer and over again.... I think it was like 160 days or something.

  6. Why do you guys even bother with the RF shielding if you are no longer using RF?  :ponder:  :?

    I didn't put them back on. :)

    ..Al

And neither did I. I also didn't bother to try getting the RF sheild back on when I installed the 5200 video mod in my 5200.

  7. Hi,

I just got around to installing the Cybertech 2600 S-Video mod, but I'm having major trouble fitting it into the TIA socket of my 4-switch 2600.  I line up the pins and push as hard as I can (evenly down), but it just won't go in!  It will go in a little, but then pop right out again.  In fact, the shielding can't fit because the board is too high.   :x

Mine was a little difficult as well... I found the pins were a little too far a part.... so I got one side in slightly and then I used a mesure stick to press all the pins on other side inward a a little to make it go in.

I didn't bother to cut the sheild... I found that the mod made the TIA too tall for the sheild to go on so I would have had to cut a big hole for the TIA to stick out..(that is typical right?...I kept wondering if maybe I could have inserted it further but I didn't want to push it)

My only prob is that the cables are so short... Anyone know where I could get an S-video cable with a female end or some other adaptor to alow me to plug another S-video cable into the S-video cable from the mod?

Anyway I think the mod works real slick from what little I've had time to check it out. :)

  8. Yeah, there were some instructions on a disk... I think.. there was something with it though but I don't know where I put my copy. If you're having trouble locating your instructions maybe you should e-mail 8bitDomain and ask for them to send the instructions to you by way of online file transfer or something?

  9. Well, I was just browsing the MacAddict forums today when I found this thread. I'm sure some of you will have allready seen this...in fact it may have allready been posted..but I think it's pretty cool so I'll take the risk of being redundant... or incredibly late.

It links to this one page(if this link doesn't work, there are more mirrors listed on the thread on MAF as linked above) with some pictures... I'd suggest downlading and reading the PDF... It's pretty funny. :-D

  10. Thanks for the link, interesting site.

Sega parts canceled my order, because apparently they don't carry the mono cables anymore   they need to update that site.

So now I'm doing the ebay thing. Buying two 10 footer SMS/Gen1 a/v cables..and unfortunately I bought a sealed Gen2 stereo cable for $10, and then found a BIN for the same thing for $3. Argh. The second one doesn't have AV in the title, is why. I found it searching for Sega Genesis. Oh well you win some you lose some.

That's why I allways sort my ebay searches by price and try different searches. :)

I've found good prices before because I searched for misspellings.

  11. I tried cleaning it even more. It's not helping.

EDIT: After 'cleaning' it with my tightest cart (Pac-Man) and reinserting many carts over and over testing each time...it seems to happen 1/9th or 10th of the time now. Maybe less. But it may just be the evil game gear is trying to fool me.

Maybe you should try using a toungue depresser(or a butter knife as I've used) and an alcohol soaked cotten rag....like maybe an old torn up t-shirt... just make sure the rag and toungue depresser don't add up to be thicker than a cart would be.

  12. While we're discussing MacQuarium, can anyone give me pointer to convert the 20th Anniversary Mac into an aquarium?

    You're not serious, right?

Personally I could never bring myself to gut a system that works fine for a MacQuarium... that and the fish would probably die because I'd forget to feed them regularly. :ponder:

  13. I like getting boxes and manuals when they don't add too much to the cost... but if I can't get them or they add to the price to a ridiculous extent I don't care enough to pay a whole lot for them... anyway, my room would look very dull if I didn't have any boxes to display. But most of my games are just loose games.

  14. SuperPsycho:  Good job and props for getting the thread properly back on track.  Also, wish to hell (no religious insult intended, Bratwurst) that I still had my 1084.  I was both Dumb and Dumber for getting rid of it.

The 1084 is yummy. :D I bought it on e-bay shortly after being given my Commodore64... I figured hey, here's a nice video monitor..it does Chroma/luma(s-video), Composite, and Analog RGB and it sez commodore on front. I gotta have it!

I have so many systems hooked up, I don't think there's a TV out there with enough inputs! It's really nice having 4 switchboxes hooked up to my 1084.

If you were so dumb to get rid of it, why not get another one? :)

Anyway, what I'm ashamed of is I got a bunch of NES games including an Aladdin Deck Enhancer about 5 days ago and I havn't had a chance to try any of it out yet! and I have this switch box setup that makes it so easy and quick to change between systems too!

  15. o_O

The whole purpose of the AC adapter is to convert AC current to DC...

Acctually it just converts AC 120V to AC 9V. Any AC to DC conversion is done inside the system. Take a look at the output listed on an NES power adaptor.... while your at it, take a look at all your game systems' PS unit output listings.... Then take a look at the input ratings listed on your systems... (it's on the bottom of the NES)

plugging a ps unit that puts out DC into a system that expects AC may work because it is eventually converted to DC anyway. However, putting AC into what is expecting DC can cause damage for sure.

  16. On comment about disks.... From my experience 5.25" floppies tend to hold data much longer than 3.5" floppies...none of the old 3.5" DD/SD floppies I find ever work... but I all the 5.25" DD/SD disks I've found have worked.

Oh well, at least new 3.5" DD/SD floppies can still be ordered in bulk online.

Also, used PS/2 mice are easily had for next to nothing because they are everywhere...they are common. Mice for systems that do not use PS/2 or USB mice are not as easy to locate and can tend to cost more because of this.
