  1. I like seeing price tags from back in the day. Some of the those prices I'd consider expensive now, let alone 30 years ago. No wonder it took years of whining before my parents bought me an Atari.
  2. I'm guessing the reserve is $6,500: the offer price for Birthday Mania.
  3. I don't think a few reproductions or a ROM release would affect the attraction for a great museum piece like this. Am I right? (holds breath)
  4. Thanks for the longer video. Game looks great! Looks like there is a lot to it and it has nice graphic details with the fish swimming at the bottom. Don't have the means to buy your copy but definitely interested in buying a repro if the winner decides to go that route (fingers crossed).
  5. This thread and the Flyer thread are the first ones I look to for updates--especially from the two owners which is, unfortunately, rare. I'm looking forward to playing this game more than that Star Castle game (even taking into account the flashing lights) and I believe it will be made available eventually. In the meantime, this subject has been analyzed inside and out, literally, for 5 years! Time for the owners (nagn2, in particular) to sell or get off the pot, so to speak
  6. I'm still very interested in this game. It looks fun and the videos of the game play intrigue me. I really want to play it. We're just waiting on the owners to make a move.
  7. According to nagn2, he's played the game a lot and has gotten further and further in it making new high scores so it sounds like his copy is very playable.
  8. Hmmmmmm...I'd rather see Boulder Dash included in a homebrews list only because it was not released back in the day. That's just my take but, if people want it included here, I'll include it. I'd like to see a new Top Games thread for just homebrews. You can always submit new lists. I keep index cards of member's lists so I will, hopefully, spot replacements and not double count. I've got a lot of lists to add. I've been slacking.
  9. Hmmmm, if the end label on the Medium Bob cart is missing, there should be no concern with opening it up.
  10. Dang! That Basic Programming label is in great shape (well, was in great shape). I don't collect carts anymore since buying a Harmony, but I would've traded my text label Basic Programming and some other duplicates for that pic label cart.
  11. Wow, excellent find! Thanks! It says the kid had to be 15 or under so, I guess, no one was able to get the full $500 scholarship. I have that commercial on an '80s only mp3 player ('80s music and '80s commercials) which I play on shuffle a lot, so I hear that commercial often. It's nice to know the scholarship was real--at least for a while. So, did the Adam help prepare you for college like the commercial said?
  12. I had one of these scholarships, they were real and did exist. Unfortunately they didn't pay out as a lump sum; you had to prove you were still enrolled every semester or every other semester (can't remember which) to get a check mailed to you. The problem is that Coleco went bankrupt in 1988, before honoring the entire scholarship; once they filed for bankruptcy they stopped honoring the scholarships. Ultimately I got less than half of the promised $500. Thanks for the info! That is interesting to know that some students did get something from it if they started college within 4 years of the promotion I guess those who had a young kid who was 5+ years from college were S.O.L. Do you recall how much Adam computers were? I was wondering how the price of the computer compared to the scholarship amount.
  13. I was just thinking...is there an image showing the end label on Medium Bob's cart? I don't remember seeing the end label. If it's missing, does that start to even the playing field a bit? P.S. To maximize $$$, eBay is the better bet, but I like your idea because then it will be guaranteed to go to an AA member.
  14. Off topic, but since you brought up Adam, there is a commercial I have on VHS (unfortunately it's not on YouTube or I'd link it) about a $500 scholarship if an Adam home computer was purchased during a certain time frame in 1984. I'm a bit fascinated by that. I wonder if those scholarships were actually honored. Does anyone know anything about that?
  15. As I said,"More real to me time wise and the story sounding real." nagn2 made a video of the game play, too.
  16. My head is spinning! I wish nagn2 (which makes me think of the words "naggin' to", which is probably what he thinks he's been going through with this game) would put up his auction tomorrow like he said he would and an AA member gets it and puts this verification question to rest once and for all.
  17. "Wow! You just full hand slapped this thread across the face. Grats on the find." Ahhh Tanman....whatever happened to him? Took his 36K (or whatever it was) and ran. Congrats on the find! The box looks in excellent condition. Worth the 2 1/2 year wait, I assume.
  18. no matter what happens, I'm really enjoying these threads!
  19. Why postpone the auction? Oh and your a real cocksucker for wishing his cart doesn't work. He typed "LOL" after the comment. He's obviously taking this with a sense of humor that I think is lost sometimes on this forum. Relax people! It's a game which we'll probably now all be able to play soon and then move on to the next discovery. Have some fun.
  20. ...when you can't remember which side on the joystick is the "Top."
  21. The meek shall inherit the Red Sea Crossing ROM
  22. All I want to do is play the game someday and, with a second cartridge surfacing, the chances got a lot better.
  23. He knows he beat an Atari legend, right?
