  1. Yeah, what's the point of putting a photo of the Goodwill receipt in the auction? For bragging purposes??? The non-profit organization gets $0.96 (or whatever, I can't even make out the amount in that lousy photo) while the eBay seller makes a killing?? I'm not saying it's wrong to make a profit on something you found cheap (I'd be elated), but why post a pic of the receipt as if to rub it in? It doesn't add any information useful to potential buyers as would, say, screen shots.
  2. Scrabbler15: Finally got the chance to see your videos! What awesome memories and mementos you have! Even a certificate signed by George Plimpton! I'm assuming the signature is real and not a facsimile. You are definitely a video game master! Your story about your wife bringing you food while you played Atlantis 2 reminds me of the South Park episode where the boys are in this ultimate battle in World of Warcraft and Cartman's mom brings food for them and, in Cartman's case, a bed pan. Hopefully your wife didn't have to do THAT!
  3. It's missing my favorite Atari commercial, too. This brilliant 2 minute segment: "We're Atari, we have the vision and we invented the technology to bring it home to you"
  4. Do you play the NCAA basketball brackets? It would be interesting to see if statistics can help in one's bid to win an office pool (although this past tournament was probably a little more unconventional than most).
  5. The tune to the Centipede commercial is awesome! I like the music in the 5200 Pole Position commercial although the commercial itself is totally lame. I've NEVER liked the Megamania commercial. I found it to be really annoying. When I was a kid I thought the singer was Dennis DeYoung of Styx. Totally off on that one! I've always liked seeing the dog playing Atari in that Atari Anonymous commercial. The guy is right. The E.T. commercials (especially the Christmas one) always bring tears to my eyes.
  6. You couldn't kill the dragon? Did you try? I think I've only played that game in its first variation and I always try to kill the dragon to get him out of the way.
  7. Have you tried jiggling the cartridges? Sometimes they take some jiggling to get them going (Activision games especially if I remember correctly).
  8. Yup.....the box was the home for this cart for nearly 30 years.............I could not do that...... As Lendorien said they should kept toether! But it wasn't home to the cartridge for nearly 30 years. They were stored separately hence he didn't find the box until later. I mentioned this before, but that takes away some of the romanticism of the original cart and box.
  9. But that's Tanman's history, not the buyer's. And it obviously wasn't an important enough childhood memory to keep the game. It was remembered as a crappy game that none of his friends wanted. Before knowing its real value, he probably would have been happy to sell it for $100.
  10. I think most guys would prefer the Atari version because the hooker had bigger knockers.
  11. I hated this game as a kid. It was my least favorite. I could never figure it out and it seemed more like work than a game. Put your gameplay on Youtube. I'd like to see someone successful at playing it since I never was.
  12. For Tanner it would have sentimental value, but not for Wonder. I know what you mean, though.
  13. At first I thought it best to keep Tanman's former cartridge and box together; however, they weren't stored together all these years. They were stored separately (just like Wonder's cartridge and Tanman's box were stored separately--in different states ), so that takes a way a little of the romanticism; at least I think so. Plus, the more I thought about it the more I realized I would keep the cartridge that is in better condition, too.
  14. Great! I was (and still am) a big Iron Maiden fan! I like "2 Minutes to Midnight" for "Missile Command" How 'bout: "Die With Your Boots On" for "Custer's Revenge" (since that's all he wears) "Women in Uniform" for "Bachelor Party" "Be Quick or Be Dead" for "Berserk" "The Loneliness Of the Long Distance Runner" for "Decathlon" "Infinite Dream" for "Air Raid" "Hallowed Be Thy Name" for "Hangman" (of course) I guess "Wasted Years" can apply to various cartridges for various reasons Maybe we should start a new thread...
  15. i guess that if they wouldn't say activision on them, i would be the first one to deserve a "you suck" patch Maybe you could have them say "Hackivision."
  16. Yeah, I wouldn't want a pricey game like that sealed. I'd want to open it to see the game, manual and any advertisements that might be inside and play the game but then would think that opening it would diminish its value. Then I'd think, "This game has been sealed for 27 some years and I'm going to open it now! I can't do that!" Too much mental anguish
  17. Is Atari stock still on the Nasdaq? If so, how did it react to the news? I had 100 shares a few years back which was worth about nothing. Sorry if this was already covered. I just saw this thread and didn't want to read 11 pages of posts because I am lazy
  18. Oh man!!! Could you PM me if it happens? I don't know if I'd see it in time before it sells out! Just out of curiosity, how much did T&P 1 sell for?
  19. He didn't say that he just saw it. we have all assumed he just saw it and wrote in, but if you read what he wrote, he is not clear. Maybe he remembered back to seeing the box 10 years earlier (remember the article was published 10 years after air raids release). If he had remembered seeing the cart earlier and wrote in to get an idea for how rare it was, then maybe after 10 years he had forgotten the precise nature of the box. Th letter, at first, sounds like he saw the game a long time ago: "there was a cartridge from a company called..." As he's describing it though, the wording sounds like it could have been fairly recent (would those game still be in stores in 1992?). The response, though, sounds like it was recent. He writes "snatch it up if you can" and to send a photocopy. Obviously, if he saw the game 10 years earlier, that would probably not be possible. I'm wondering if the letter was edited for print. Maybe there was more to the letter that stated where and when he saw the cartridge--information that was used in the response.
  20. Well, I don't remember a clock so I must be getting confused with something else weird I saw on a package.
  21. I'd love to have a game like this in cartridge form (probably couldn't do that because of copyright, huh). I can't figure out how to download the games but I'm a big South Park fan (it's my all-time favorite show). Terrance & Phillip are so funny.
