  1. Thank you all for the tips, but I seriously don't get this game. I absolutely can't do it...

    New score: 61,400.

I don't know how many times I have reset in rack 1. In >30 attempts, I managed to do the challenge rack just once. This game is kicking my ass.

I'm in the same boat. I can't even get to the score I previously posted. What I don't understand is how to avoid getting hit by enemies coming at you from the edges. You don't see them, they just hit you out of the blue. How are the edges being cleared out rack after rack without being hit? Are you guys noticing enemy flying patterns?

There seems to be a certain incubation period necessary for this game, during which it seems impossible to make improvements. But when you stick with it, suddenly you'll have a breakthrough game and then it gets easier. Even then it seems to be one step forward and two steps back, but at least it no longer feels impossible ;)

Thanks for the pep talk! I'll give it another try. I wanted to try for 100K, but was so far from it with no improvement in sight.

I thought this game was the last Atari 2600 cartridge I purchased in the wild (after I stopped collecting). Turns out, it was Star Fox.

  3.

It's rated R5 on AA, but does anyone know if these ratings are still good, or have they become outdated?

For some odd reason, I have two copies of this -- probably got at least one of them in a lot. Both of them have some label damage, so I doubt they're worth much, but if anyone's interested I could sell one cheap-like

I remember a thread where someone intentionally destroyed a "I Want My Mommy" cartridge and posted videos or pics of it (destroying game cartridges on YouTube was kind of popular at the time, for some reason). After posting it, a number of members commented that they needed that cartridge for their collections. The OP replied, "Was that cartridge really that rare?" LOL.

  4. New, and probably last score I will post this week: 13,420.

I am definetly too slow for higher scores. This one here was one in about 20 attempts, all of which ended very very quickly - and regularly like a clockwork between 10,000 and 10,500 points. I reach this score easily, with full energy - and then die. Seems to be a threshold I can only cross with extreme luck. Which is why I'm content with this score here and hope that no one reaches the magic number 3.

But your score has a 3.

  5. Well, a game can't get much more underrated than E.T. I think it's very unique and challenging, plus it always changes where the phone parts and Reese's Pieces are so it's not the same game everytime. I like the graphics, too.
