Personally I'm guessing he was just tired of it all. There's really only three reasons people generally sell game and console collections. Either they need money, need space, or are just tired of all the stuff they bought that seemed cool at one point but not so much anymore. Sometimes it's a combination of the three. Priorities can change over time and that's alright, it's just part of life. I think very few people ever hold onto the stuff they've collected forever.

I think he was just tired of storing it in the basement of a morgue.
