  1. Heh, I saw this post and thought, "Oh god.. I remember that post..." Then realized it was this same thread. That guy didn't stick around I guess?
  2. Pure/Classic. And it doesn't matter. I've switched modes and online and offline and everything I can on the high score table. I'm not showing up. Even in offline where it should show mine. The top score on the top middle of the playfield records my top score, but it doesn't post them to the high score table. Edit: AND... my high score is higher than one of my friends scores... so I should at least be showing up in 2nd place now... right? Edit 2: Do you have to do something special to "post" them there? I can't find anything about this. Seems like it would be automatic... is it not? What am I missing?
  3. Okay, I got this today. But I'm confused... is there a threshold score you have to get to to input high scores? I mean, I have nothing saved, so shouldn't even my lowest score be in there somewhere? There's a spot for friends, and there are two friends scores in there, but shouldn't mine at least be 3rd? What gives? What's the secret?
  4. I got a TurboGrafx-16 for Christmas around 1991 or so... I got The Legendary Axe that same Christmas, and the system came with a mail in card for a free game, so I got Blazing Lazers. I've gotten a lot of free/gifted games over the years...
  5. Game.com came with Lights Out, didn't it? As well as Solitaire built in.
  6. Way back in the day, a new grocery store opened in the town we lived in and had grand opening event type things... my dad won a 2600 and some games from a door prize contest thing he entered. We already had a 2600, so he said that one would go "in storage." We never saw it again. But he did let me pick one game to keep out of the games that came with it and that's how I got Yars Revenge.
  7. Just remembered that I had jury duty on Jan 28. Yeaaa...

Maybe the case was dismissed or settled (common)... and you didn't have to go anyway.

  8. Same. I also had an alarm clock with red leds... but that's all I can remember. I didn't know him at the time, but my brother-in-law used to have the Mattel Football and liked it a lot.
  9. Congratz to Barnstorming! One of the games of my youth! I feel a bit bad about not contributing anything lately. Been having a rough time lately and haven't felt like playing anything. Odd for me... I'll usually play around with SOMETHING. Hopefully things will turn around soon. Gotta get my groove back!
  10. 11:30AM on Monday. Is it too early to already be ready for the weekend?

I'm ready. And I even like my job and it pays okay. If I were wealthy i'd just read and do activities. No more work for me.

  11. Some Pong clone. Don't remember enough details to know what kind. Played on a big wood console TV... possibly a Zenith... Edit: People are talking about arcades, too... while not sure what the first was, some of my earliest memories of arcade games are of Pac Man and Popeye... I may have played them, but it's fuzzy. I know I played Moon Patrol and Galaga later on, though.
  12. I like that. Gonna steal it... As far as selling goes on Ebay, I've never had anyone request a return. Had one person ask for a partial refund because she thought I charged too much for shipping. EBay's shipping fee calculator is usually pretty bad from what I've seen. I think there are a couple of sales that I've made that, after shipping costing more than I thought and Ebay getting their cut, I think I broke even or lost money on. As far as buying goes, I've only ever returned one item. A Game Gear with no sound (imagine that!). Buyer said it worked, got it and it didn't. This was 15 or 16 years ago, though, so I don't remember how return shipping costs were handled. Side Note: That Game Gear came with a Spider Man game. I played it a bit, with no sound, before returning it all. To this day, that is the only Spider Man game I have played. (Not counting things like Lego Marvel Super Heroes or Marvel vs Capcom which Spider Man appears in.)
  13. Nah... but maybe you could store stuff in there... like gummi bears or tater tots or something... for snacking...
  14. Just one game for me this week... SNES Super Mario World - 41 min (I'm not sure that this will be the next game that I tackle for my "Finish Some Games" resolution, but it is one that I've never finished before. I am definitely rusty at it. I one game over already and have only just beaten the second castle. I remember playing this a lot back when it first came out. My brother in law got a SNES the first weekend they were out and we both played this all night. I think he eventually beat it, but I never did. We'll see.)
  15. Not exactly a "thrift find", but a guy I work with brought me this truck. It's a Buddy L Playstation truck. A little research says it's from '96. It has a battery compartment underneath, and I was a little scared to open it. But there were no batteries inside... and what's strange is... there were no contacts either. Looking around online, I found someone else saying their truck was like this, so I'm assuming that's how they were made. Probably just used the same molds for several different trucks, just putting different stickers on the side. And this one just didn't have anything that made noise or lit up or whatever. It's a little dinged up because the guy who gave it to me had let his kids play with it and such, but it's not too bad. A little cleaning will help most of it. There's some worn parts on the stickers that are showing white... might take a marker or something? What do you guys think. There's also a place on the hood by the windshield which may be some rust, but I just got it home today after work and haven't had a lot of time to check it over. For now, it's doing fine just sitting on the CRT.
  16. My mom just called me... at 8:30 at night... to ask me a math question.

I told her 4' tall by 16' wide by 75' long would just about get it. But yeah, unfortunately they were just wanting to use reinforced concrete and/or cinder blocks... nothing as fancy as transparent aluminum.

Thanks for the link, Flojo... I sent it to her. Her husband runs what they call a "water ministry". Essentially, he builds drills that dig wells, goes all over the world and trains people how to dig wells and gives them the drill so they can drill wells for others. He's been to Haiti several times, North Africa, places in the Pacific... They're planning to build a tank that will feed water to a filtration system and then to a holding tank with a spigot or something. Wante...

  17. Finished up Wind Waker this week! GameCube Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - 504min (Finished up the game earlier this week. Did not 100% it. Didn't get all the different treasure chests (but got a vast majority of them) and don't think I had the full complement of hearts but not sure how many is max. I think I ended the game with 14? There's kind of a little boss rush area before the end where you have to go back and re-defeat four of the bosses. The sand pit one gave me fits this time around. I had no trouble the first time, and I don't know if they're supposed to be harder the second time around, but it was rough. I could not get it to target the main boss... it kept targeting those little worms that swim around. Ended up using up three of my bottled fairies on him before I finally got him. The closest I have come to rage quitting this entire playthrough. Luckily, you have a few chances to go out and resupply before the end. Gannon, by comparison, was pretty easy. And the whole stabbing him in the head? Awesome. Great game. Now.. what to finish next...)
  18. Wind Waker... I've had this game for about 15 years and never beat it until today.
  19. Yeah, saw a thread about doing that. Looks interesting, but I'm just not that motivated to do it.
  20. I forgot about my NES Max... I mean, that's not hard to do considering I never use it.
  21. I don't really have anything video game related recently. That's why I put the thing about the disposal up there. I've done little things like removing the clock capacitor from an OG Xbox and correctly diagnosing a non-working Master System as having a bad voltage regulator (someone else actually replaced it for me, though)... but those were both about a year ago. Only video game related stuff I've opened up or anything lately was a bootleg SNES game I got for Christmas, and I didn't really do anything to it... just took pics and put it back together. I did use a thumbtack to clean lint out of the lightning port on my iPhone so it would charge, if that counts...
