  1. An all Atari week for me... 2600 (via Flashback Portable) 2005 Minigame Multicart Jet Man - 5 min (A pretty fun little game that I probably would have played more of if I hadn't been sitting outside. The screen on the portable is a little reflective and the lasers in this game were a little hard to see. A higher contrast color would have been better.) 2048 2600 Puzzle - 5 min (This is the sliding number puzzle game 2048. It was on mobile devices recently. You slide the puzzle in the four directions to slide tiles with the same number into each other. They then become a new tile with a new number equal to the two previous ones added together. For example, slide two 2 blocks together and they become a 4 block. Anyway, I just played for a bit while waiting on laundry. Wanted to see what it was.) 21 Blue - 5 min (A blackjack game. A picture of a woman up top is the dealer and she "says" things after each game. "I can't lose!" "You're hot tonight!" Things like that. You can bet and get insurance and everything, but it's really a pretty basic blackjack game, but nicer visually than the original 2600 Blackjack. The picture of the woman would have surely wowed gamers if this had come out in 1980 or something.) Keystone Kapers - 15 min (Probably one of my favorite 2600 games. But as soon as those shopping carts start flying about four or five levels in, I start losing quick. I've got this emulated on both my computer and my Flashback Portable. Guess I need to pick up the actual cart at some point...) Trump Invaders - 5 min (C'mon... you see a game called that and you've gotta try it. It's a Space Invaders clone/hack with the aliens replaced with a Trump's face, and the letters T, R, U, M, P. The laser cannon you control has been changed to a dollar sign. It's good for a grin, but after that, it's just Space Invaders.) Jaguar Tempest 2000 - 101 min (Playing more for the Jaguar HSC. Not as many minutes this week as last, but I did get a new personal high score of 492104. Accidentally completed a bonus level, which warps you ahead 5 levels (with according increase in difficulty) or it might have been higher.)
  2. This'll probably be the last update on Tempest for me. Doubt I'll get higher than this... at least not tonight. 492104 Just below the 500,000 mark. And my top scores screen... just for the heck of it...
  3. Heavy Sixer for sale on Goodwill's auction site... https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/57210615

Over under on final price? I am guessing $61.04 final price.

Don't know... looks like it's had a rough life in storage...

  4. Such a beautiful game. And you're right, I had no idea there was a Windows version. I wonder why they had different dates at the beginning of the of the stage. Windows April 1, Saturn April 6, and Playstation and Arcade April 9. I can understand changing some things because of limitations of system or whatever, but that seems like such a random and insignificant thing to change.
  5. Ha... Okay... going to play some more tonight and probably tomorrow as well. So maybe this'll go up more, but for now... 467445 I've had several in the 400 thousand range, but this has been the highest so far.
  6. Who would win in a fight between...

  7. I've gotten a higher score than my last posted one. But waiting to see if I get a better one before I post again. Don't want to flood the thread with progress pics... lol GL everyone!
  8. Just remembered I had an SD card in an old camera. Gonna see if I can put some more games on my Atari Flashback Portable!

You know where to look, right? There's a curated ROM pack hidden somewhere on this site. ;-)

I do. I did! Used those instructions posted by that nice person and played some Keystone Kapers last night!

  9. Well, that's just it, there are rings with arrows, but these don't have one before them... It's just several regular rings, and then there are some that are up too high (or too low). I'm pressing the up (or down) direction, but it just won't go any further and it ends the bonus stage. Unless I'm remembering incorrectly. Wish I had a capture card and could go back and watch past playthroughs...
  10. I remembered something else, too. The YouTuber guy Adam Koralik (spelling?) goes shopping in Japan relatively often and he mentioned something about getting a tax break for essentially being a foreigner. He said there's a sign in the window in some shops and if you spend over a certain amount and ask them for it, they take off the tax or something. Sorry, I don't remember the details, but maybe you save some money that way. Yeah... found this. https://tax-freeshop.jnto.go.jp/eng/shopping-guide.php
  11. First, I'd think it would probably be pretty difficult to play Mega Man 2 with a joystick. Could maybe get used to it after a lot of practice... but then second, plug and plays aren't necessarily known for having good quality joysticks. That Mega Man 2 Plug and Play would be one to get only if it were going to sit on the shelf and look pretty, I think.
  12. None of it was unnecessary. I did it on consoles that had issues to show what had been done for full transparency, so people would know exactly what they were bidding on and wouldn't try to claim I swindled them. The two 2600s that I sold had shielding that was pretty badly rusted. I had taken them apart to clean and took pictures of them after doing so. The XBox I put up for auction had the old, bad clock capacitor. I took picture of where I removed it to show that it hadn't done any damage to the board. The Sega Master System had the voltage regulator replaced as it came to me inoperable. I took pictures showing that. I don't just willy nilly take apart consoles just to have a looksee.
  13. It's a pretty darn fun game. I haven't practiced it a whole lot, but when those shopping carts start going faster a few levels in, I start falling behind.
  14. My times... pretty focused on one game this week... Atari Jaguar Tempest 2000 - 339 min (Playing this for the Jaguar HSC and I have never been this into this game before. I think I finally got the hang of using the d-pad for control. The game was pretty much made for a spinner, but I don't have one. By now I think I've gotten to the point where I would be worse with one. lol This is the first time I've had a sore thumb from playing in a while. My games are taking a little over 30 minutes from start to game over, which is way up from what I used to be capable of. I had a high score of 467445 a few days ago, and haven't been able to beat that since, so I may have topped out in my skill for a while. We'll see... there's still another week of Tempest in the HSC. On a semi related note, if I'm going to be playing this much Jaguar, I've gotta look into some issues I'm having with my system. Need to get some AV cables or something for cleaner output... you can see the interference in the screenshot..., probably need to get a new power supply as mine starts making a high pitched hum from the wall wart, and there's some audio issues that seem to resolve when I lift up the front of the console about an inch and let it drop back down. Sigh... Jags aren't cheap to replace anymore, so I may need to learn how to solder in the near future.) Not sure where this one belongs, but I think it should probably be here since the arcade machine came out in the 80s... I played about 10 minutes of Dragon Spirit on the Namco Museum 50th Anniversary for the original XBox. Man that game is super hard. I remember the TurboGrafx version being a little more forgiving. I also played a negligible amount of Pac Man on the same disc, but without an actual joystick, I just can't do Pac Man games... I'll let you guys decide.
  15. Yeah... well I mean, automatic in that it suggests that one automatically when you start typing something in and people use it. I've had it do that to me before, but I caught it and deleted the "Launch Edition" part before posting. And you'd probably love my listings... I sometimes think I give too much detail. I've even included pics of the insides of consoles in listings before. Haven't seen anyone else do that. lol
  16. It seems to be automatically put into many Ebay item descriptions/titles or something. That alone has made me absolutely hate the term.
  17. I have PGA Tour '97 for the Sega Saturn... wonder how close they are...
  18. Speaking of the bonus levels... there's the one where you're flying through the rings, right? I have several times gotten to some that were too far up or down... like it wouldn't let me go far enough to go through them and the bonus level ends... through no fault of my own. Does that happen to any of you?
  19. I've thought of things like this, too. Like the time I said something like, "I'm only 12 games away from having a complete Game Wave game collection!"
  20. Anyone else tired of hearing the terms "rogue-like" and "procedurally generated"?

I'm not a fan of SHMUP the term, but I like SHMUP the genre. Same with Metroidvania. Hair band, cloud, and AI haven't bothered me. Just seems there's a lot of indie type games that are all jumping on the procedurally generated bandwagon. I'd rather have carefully crafted levels and such.

<grumpy old man> In my day they called it "random levels," and we liked it that way. We LOVED It that way! </grumpy old man>

You gotta think outside the box. It's a total paradigm shift.

  21. Still working... score moving upward... 377560... still hardly ever remember to use jump... I have figured out I have some hell levels... not sure what number it is, but there's one that's kinda shaped like a four leaf clover that I die a lot on.
  22. I have Ephemeral Fantasia. Got it at a pawn shop back around 04 or so... never could get into it, though.
