Considering moving the Wii from the living room to my game room... then I can add some times for the TG-CD as I have a few of those downloaded via the VC. I've already added some to the Jaguar times. =) I'll put those times up on Sunday (it isn't much, but it'll almost double the yearly total so far! lol)
-
I think all those Albert Odyssey minutes are mine... still need to finish that game. I'm close to the end, just need to get it done... Also, I noticed that too, Opry99er. Figured the Jag would have more than 35 minutes... maybe I'll play some Raiden or something later to boost those numbers up to at least an hour. lol

My modern gaming for the week... GameBoy Advance Sword of Mana (emulated via PSP) - 105 min (Waited a little long between play sessions and kinda forgot what I was doing or where I was supposed to go next. I did further the story some, though.) PSP Hot Shots Open Tee - 120 min (Did several of the challenges and a couple full rounds. This really is an easy to pick up game. Not too arcadey, but not so realistic either. A good golf game.) PS3 Wipeout HD - 20 min (Haven't played this in a long time. Finally did well enough in a certain race to get a medal (bronze). Definitely a game that rewards practice.) XBox One Witcher III - 30 min (Played a little more on this from my new game. I just don't know that I want to go through and do this stuff again. I just keep remembering the annoying parts. I was super into it and totally played nothing but for a while, but, boom, done... I dunno.)

Not a lot of classic gaming for me this week... Sega Genesis MUSHA (emulated via PSP) - 5 min (Was just going through and messing around on my PSP. This is such a great game, but I don't think the controls on the PSP are quite up to it... or maybe it's me... lol) Truxton (split about evenly between PSP and real hardware/cart) - 30 min (Well, I played more than just 15 min this time, and I still suck! lol... but anyway, I did get a little farther and was able to get past some of the little mid-bosses or whatever a little easier now, but it's still a rough game. I did notice an issue with my Genesis Arcade Stick, though... sometimes, when I'm moving left and let go of the stick to stop, my ship keeps moving left. So I may need to take it apart and give it a clean.)

Can Madden Pronounce Custom Names Yet?
Eltigro replied to VectorGamer's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I feel like I've played a game where it would do that, but it had to be a common name like James or John or whatever... am I dreaming that? Like Fallout 3 or something? -
So it seems someone has tried to use my email address to create an Epic Games account (Fortnight)... so I keep getting emails about unsuccessful login attempts. And Epic games is apparently impossible to get ahold of to tell them to delete the account or whatever...
-
-
Heh, actually think I've changed it twice since that first email. Not even sure if I know what it is anymore...
-
Just got an email that they have deleted "my" account. (I found some online email form a few days ago, guess it actually worked.)

On the bright side, you're only 12 games away from a complete set!

Has anyone got better at gaming, as they've aged ?
Eltigro replied to 80s_Atari_Guy's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Heh... nope... there are lots of games I beat as a kid (or at least younger) that I can't beat now... But then, I devoted more time to them then. I spent a lot of time on something like Castlevania before I finally beat it. I just don't play any one game for that long any more. -
I've recorded video games, too... but for a different purpose... There's a shell game gambling mini-game in Suikoden. The more you bet, the faster the cups move. At the highest level, it's pretty difficult to track the one with the ball. I ran my playstation's output through a VCR and recorded the cups moving, then went back and watched the tape in slow-mo so I could easily follow the cup. Then I went back to the game and selected the correct cup.

One reason I like the stopwatch feature on my phone is that I'm rarely able to play uninterrupted. I start it up, play, then when I have to go take out the garbage or whatever, I can just tap the stop button. Then when I come back, I just tap the start button and keep going. Seems easier than writing down times off a clock for when I got up and when I sat back down. Then at the end, when I'm finished playing that game for the day, I just have one time to write down. If that makes any sense... I mean, I guess I could just not worry about the extra five minutes it takes to do whatever it is I'm going to do, but when I'm actually timing (and not being lazy) I like it to be a little more accurate. Same with the writing it down in a spiral. Seems easier and faster for me to quickly jot it down with pen and paper than type it into a word program or notepad or anything. Interesting to see people's methods though. Oh, and it was mentioned the 3DS has that time played screen or whatever. I forgot, because I haven't played it in a while, but the Wii has that, too. I've used that to track playtime when I've played it.
-
Well, ideally, when I'm actually timing stuff... I actually set the stop watch on my phone. Then when I stop playing, I write it down in a spiral I keep by my chair. Unless it's an RPG that records the played time on the save file, then I just use that. Here lately, though, I've been lazy and just guessing. lol
-
I'm pretty boring I guess. Can't think of anything other than using Genesis controllers on my 2600. I tried a Genesis controller on my Master System once, but for some reason I didn't like it... don't remember if it didn't work right or what now. Before I got an actual PS3 controller, I used a PS2 controller with an adapter cable on my PS3. That worked fine in games, but you had to press the power button on the console to exit games as there was no home button to press to make that menu come up.
-
Times are approximate as I've been lazy... Xbox One Witcher III - 10 min (I started over on this one, vowing to go through it all the way this time. I didn't make it far until I quit. It's a great game, and I have a save that's reasonably far into the game, but I haven't played it in a while, so I figured I'd start over because I've probably forgotten some plot points or whatever. I do this with some games... I've never "finished" the main story line on games like Witcher, Fallout 4, Skyrim,... hell, even LoZ Windwaker... I get bogged down in sidequests or leveling or whatever and just kinda burn myself out.) GBA (via PSP emulation) Sword of Mana - 240 min (Usually, this is one that I'd be able to give an exact time on, as it lists the time played on the save file. But I remembered that I set it down on pause and walked off to cook and eat dinner, so that time is probably no longer accurate. It was saying about five and a half hours. I say it was probably actually about 4 hours of actual play time. I used to have this game. Received it brand new for my birthday (in October). Anyway, I was forced to give it away a couple months later when my wife got one of those Christmas lists for underprivileged kids. A little girl had asked for a GBA game and since I still had the box and manual and everything except the shrink wrap, it was sacrificed. It was for a good cause, I guess. Hope she liked it. I'm enjoying playing it this time around.) Wario Land 4 - 30 min (Apparently I downloaded the Japanese rom? Anyway, the moves are all explained visually, so didn't really need it. Great looking and controlling game. Not sure where I'm going sometimes or what my objective is, but it is fun so far. Not sure how much I'll play it, though.) PSP IL-2 Sturmovik - 30 min (I have this for the Xbox 360. It's a pretty darn good looking game, even on the small screen. I'm not too happy with the controls, though. Seems a little too arcade-like on the PSP. Maybe if it had two analog sticks... ) Hot Shots Golf Open Tee - 75 min (A fun golf game. The Hot Shots franchise seems to be fun no matter what platform I play it on. It's not the most realistic, of course, but enjoyable none the less. I still haven't figured out how to play on a different course, as they seem to be locked. I've played a couple challenges and unlocked some things that I haven't figured out yet... Triangle shot unlocked! WTF is a Triangle shot?... It's definitely one of the ones I'll be playing more of.) Tomb Raider Legend - 15 min (Not too impressed with this one. Control seems a bit difficult. Think it was easier on the old Playstation... I couldn't get past the training mission in her house or whatever.)
-
I've been really bad at actually timing anything lately, so times are approximate... Sega Genesis TMNT Hyperstone Heist (emulated via PSP) - 60 min (Never played this before. Really enjoyed it. Used to play the arcade every once in a while way back when arcades featured more than just ticket redemption games and upscaled iOS games. This had a very similar feel. Preferred Leo to the other turtles. Usually Donatello is my go to in the arcade, but didn't seem to play as well as Leo did here.) Truxton - 15 min (One day I'll "git gud" at this game... but I'll have to play it longer than 15 min at a time I guess. It came up on a video on youtube and I thought, I should get that out and play for a bit. I have it on my PSP, but it's easier to play it on a bigger screen.) TurboGrafx-16 Legendary Axe II (emulated via PSP) - 10 min (Man, this one was glitching out bad. It was playable, but only barely. I may try to find another rom and see if that was the problem. I never was that fond of this one anyway. Always thought the first one was much better all around. If they had made the sequel an actual Legendary Axe game instead of whatever this one is, I'd like it much more.) Neutopia II (emulated via PSP) - 30 min (One day I'll get this for real... and the first one too... I got the first one on my Wii via the Virtual Console, but never got the second one. Wish I had. Don't think you can anymore, can you? Anyway, for some reason, this plays at about 75% speed or something on this emulator. It's good for boss fights, but man it gets tiresome traveling in the over world. May be able to adjust a speed in the emulator somewhere, but I haven't dug that deep into it yet.)

Went to a kind of communal garage sale thing today. Got all pictured for $7. The Ms Pac Man plug n play was $2. I already have one, but this one is in better shape. It's not the greatest, joystick seems kind of unresponsive... Ms Pac Man on the 2600 using my Sega Arcade stick is easier to play. The Joystick twists, so that makes Pole Position a bit easier, except when you're passing it seems kinda imprecise... All the rest of the stuff was in a bag on a table. The lady there was really trying to sell me the Wii system and games that were there, but I wasn't too interested (although there was a Mario Party 10 for the Wii U that I should have asked about) and she said the bag was $5. She kinda peeked in there, so she must've know what was in there... but anyway, silver PS2 has some scuffs and stickers and velcro strips (?) on the bottom that I'll need to clean off, but seems to work fine. Had Madden 09 in it (meh), the memory card had a lot of Madden saves, a GTA3 save, a Gran Turismo 4 save and some other things. Tested out the silver controller and it seems to work okay so far. Haven't tested the black one yet... looks like the cord has really been twisted a lot on that one. No AV cord, but came with the power brick. (This makes the fifth PS2 I have... sigh...) The God of War 3 has manual and game looks good. My PS3 won't read discs, so I can't actually test it, but it's probably fine. The Star Wars plug n play had some corrosion in the battery compartment, but wasn't bad. A little vinegar and some new batteries and it seems to work fine. I mean, the games are terrible and the control is difficult, but it works... -
The local Hastings rented out the TurboGrafx games for a while. But that was the only place I remember them. Several of my current games were rental games at that store that I bought when they were getting rid of their TurboGrafx rental games. There was also a place in the same shopping center that was a unique gaming place. They had a small area up front with a counter and register or whatever, and then a gated off kind of area in the back. The place was split about 60/40 with the back 60% being a bunch of televisions hooked up to Genesis and TurboGrafx systems. You would pay up front for a certain amount of time, say an hour, and then go in the back area and play whatever you wanted, switching to different stations/games, until your time was up. I only did it once, that I remember, but played Air Diver, Mickey's Castle of Illusion, Golden Axe, Boxy Boy and some others. I think you could also request certain games if they had them and they weren't already set up. It was kinda cool, but didn't last long.

At 5:40, it looks like the Playstation is using the Saturns crosshatching transparancy workaround... Also, about a week ago, GameSack did a video on "Piss Poor Ports" and this was one of the games featured. A little homage to Joe and Dave? lol

Games I remember renting: Tiger-Heli (NES) Legend of Zelda (NES) Break-thru (NES) Mickey Mousecapade (NES) 3-D World Runner (NES) Castlevania II (NES) 1942 (NES) Gyruss (NES) Lunar Pool (NES) Shadowgate (NES) Platoon (NES) Ironsword Wizards and Warriors 2 (NES) A Boy and his Blob (NES) Robocop (NES) Jackal (NES) Blaster Master (NES) Super Off Road (NES) Contra (NES) Super C (NES) Tetris (NES) Tengen Tetris (NES) Vindicators (NES) Excitebike (NES) Gauntlet (NES) Military Madness (TG-16) Ordyne (TG-16) Psychosis (TG-16) Splatterhouse (TG-16) MotoRoader (TG-16) Neutopia (TG-16) Legendary Axe II (TG-16) Games I remember borrowing Mike Tyson's Punch Out (NES) Games I remember going to a friend's house to play Tecmo Bowl (NES) Super Mario Bros 2 (NES) Iron Tank (NES) Double Dribble (NES) Gyromite (NES) Super Mario World (SNES) Uniracers (SNES) The Blues Brothers (SNES) The Lost Vikings (SNES) Games I remember loaning out to friends Metal Gear (NES) I probably missed quite a few, but I rented a LOT of games back when I was in middle school. My best friend and I would ride our bikes down to the local mom-and-pop rental store and get something then take it back home and stay up most of the evening playing it. I don't remember what games he had other than Mike Tyson. I never knew anyone else with a TurboGrafx so never did much trading or borrowing with those. lol

Apparently the NWC cart is started by pressing play on the second controller. The port allowed them to start multiple systems at the same time by using one "second" controller. From what I've heard.

Well... I first remember a Pong clone. I mean, everyone had one. No idea what happened to it. I was too young to be a part of the decision making back then... Next I remember my 2600. I had: - Combat (of course) - Pac Man (of course) - Barnstorming - River Raid - Yars Revenge (story below) - Starmaster - Donkey Kong This system and all the games were lost in a house fire when I was around 7th grade. (Lost my River Raiders patch that I had sent a photo off to Activision for, too!) My dad won a 2600 and some games at a grocery store grand opening as a door prize. Since we already had a 2600, he stored this one away. I was allowed to pick one game out of the ones that came with it. I picked Yars Revenge. No idea what ever happened to that system and games, but I'm sure it was sold off. I got an NES for my birthday one year around 7th or 8th grade. I had... - Super Mario/Duck Hunt (of course) - Spy Hunter - Castlevania - Metal Gear - Joust - 1943 I actually got my TurboGrafx-16 while I still had my NES. But at some point, all my NES stuff was stupidly sold in a garage sale. Someone got a HELL of a deal. (I had the NES and games, plus NES Advanatage, NES Max, Power Glove, Zapper, and probably two years of Nintendo Power magazine.) My Turbo I got for Christmas around 91 or 92... don't remember the exact year... I had... - Keith Courage (of course) - The Legendary Axe - Blazing Lazers I've since added to that TurboGrafx library, but those were the ones I got when I originally got the system. Keith Courage came with the system. It was my dad and step mom that were getting me the system, and my mom wanted to get me a game that went with it, but wanted to make sure it would be one I wanted, so she told me what they were getting me, had me pick out a game, and told me to act surprised when I opened everything. The system came with a "buy a TurboGrafx get a free game" promo where you would send in a card that came with the system with proof of purchase and UPC and get a free game. I got Blazing Lazers with that deal. Since then I've acquired more TurboGrafx games. A few I bought from Hastings when they started selling off their rental games (Psychosis, World Class Baseball, Military Madness). Some from pawn shops (World Court Tennis). Some from TurboZoneDirect when they were still functioning (Time Cruise, TV Sports Football). Some from Ebay (Raiden, R-Type, JJ and Jeff). Some from local game shops (Galaga 90, Ninja Spirit). And some I don't remember where I got them (Alien Crush, Devil's Crush, Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Revenge). Some of these I got long after the end of the 16 bit era, bus still figured I'd list them... Out of all those Turbo games, the only one I don't still have is Time Cruise. It was a later release and didn't come with a jewel case iirc. So it was probably still in the box when my step mom "cleaned" my room after I moved out. Sigh... Edit: Recently took a pic of my TurboGrafx stuff...

Did Pat say $5000? I don't remember that from when I watched, but I was only half paying attention. I do agree with how it's hard to say what it's worth. It truly is a situation where "it's worth what someone's willing to pay." I mean, what do you base a value estimate on? There's not many (if any) of these that have sold, so you don't have a history. And although it is hardware, a controller is not really the same. I mean, it's definitely rare, but I've heard that same argument before on programs like Antiques Road Show. If it's never come up for auction before, it's difficult to place a value. It's really all just guessing. It makes sense to me that it'd be worth more than the carts. It's got to be rarer and was part of the same competition and is actual hardware. But I'd have no idea how much... I'm with CatPix, though. I wouldn't pay even the $5000. But I know it will bring much more at auction, if it gets to one.
