  1. Reaperman mentioned V-Tech... my daughter used to have a V-Smile console made by V-Tech. There was a release that would let the joystick slide around and lock to the other side for left or right handed play. Still not what Swami is looking for, but...
  2. Can someone explain discord servers (or whatever they're called)?

Yeah, you just pick a channel (out of too many choices IMO) for example Atari VCS, then click it and chat if anyone is there, or pick a different room (For example Atari 7800) and chat...

I used to use them to coordinate raids in Everquest. The entire guild would be in channel. Much faster than typing instructions.

Just think of it as IRC.. but in a browser.

  3. I'd recognize the joystick because I remember seeing this ad in just about every magazine I bought during those days...
  4. Someone on Reddit bought someone's entire collection it seems for $6k... some nice stuff in there... https://imgur.com/a/jVLjaOE

Cool stuff, sure, but, look at that atmosphere! No carpet, no lamps, fluorescent lights from an insane asylum or a Taco Bell remodeled in the 90's...*Shudder*

      That's a steal at $6k.

He said the guy originally wanted 9k, but he talked him down.

  5. I have not bought games simply because they did not seem to have much if any single player game.
  6. I've been working on that same thing for Forza 6. But haven't in a while now...
  7. Looking back at some dates... looks like the Playstation didn't come out until late 95, so I probably didn't have one yet... so as far as gaming goes, it would have just been my TurboGrafx, I think. And my brother in law got a Super Nintendo when that came out, so I remember playing a good bit of Super Mario World.
  8. Really liked that music at the beginning of the GameBoy port.
  9. Would have been Playstation for me. With my TurboGrafx next to it.
  10. Listening to Castlevania music at my desk...

  11. Right hand... didn't really think about it until I was play Jr Pac Man the other day on the 2600. I use a Sega Genesis arcade stick for a lot of the 2600 games, and I kinda scoot it over on my right leg and use my right hand on the joystick. I think someone above said something about how when the game uses buttons, they use their left hand and when it doesn't, they use their right hand. I think I'm in that same camp.
  12. Anyone in Central/Southern Illinois? Nice Atari 800 lot on Goodwill Auctions, but it's pickup only... https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/51564731

Thought it was funny that it said that the items were very dirty/stained... I was thinking that the 800 itself had great color and looked pretty clean compared to some I have seen.

  13. Yeah, I'd say most probably not, also. I don't know what was behind the reasoning for the Taz/Asterix change, but I would assume that the company changing the game was the one that owned the rights and therefore had the right to do that change. The games are not just the characters. They are also the design and program... look at board games. If I make a Monopoly clone where all I do is change the name to My Money or something and change the game pieces to different shapes, Parker Bros (or whoever owns it) would still sue and send a cease and desist. And they would win. A Pac Man clone with a Blue Square character instead of a Yellow Circle character would face the same fate. If there is some significant change to the gameplay to make it a different playing game (like Lock n Chase) then it might be okay. But at that point, it's no longer the same game. No, legally, I don't think taking Indy's hat off is enough.
  14. Got a few new games this week, so I played around with them... 2600 Jr. Pac Man - 25 min (Man, every other version of Pac Man is better than the original version of Pac Man on the 2600. I hadn't played this one before and was surprised by the scrolling. Lack of color, though. And did I just eat a tricycle?) Starmaster - 15 min (I had this one back when I was a kid. It seemed like more of a challenge then, but I was only playing on the Ensign difficulty this time around. Had some trouble with the BW/color switch which is used to change between the map screen and the flight screen. Had to start over a couple of times because it froze/glitched the game. Anyway, was fun to get to play this one again. Edit: Oh... I was also playing with a Genesis control pad instead of the original joystick, so maybe that made it a bit easier, too...) Game Gear Sonic the Hedgehog - 13 min (I just played until my first game over. Pretty fun game, but seeing some slowdown here and there, which is rough in a Sonic game. Seems to happen most often when those hornet looking enemies are shooting at me. Also noticed a high pitched whine coming from my Game Gear... some interference through the speaker? Was playing with my AC Adapter, so maybe that was it? This one hasn't had any cap replacement, so perhaps that's what's going on. Who knows...)
  15. There are games that I have played a ton of in short bursts... but not solid for 10 years...
  16. MIGHT be going to PRGE this year... vacation still in the planning stages...

      That'd be fun!

  17. Maybe they will release a patch for the books with the next DLC...
  18. I wasn't condemning Linus Tech Tips at all, btw... just pointing out that he was the one with the goofy thumbnails when it seemed they were talking about 8-bit Guy...
  19. Are you guys sure you're talking about the 8-bit guy? I don't get the ignorant 15 year old vibe at all. And it's the Linus Tech Tips guy who has the exaggerated staged face thumbnail.
  20. The only pre-NES manuals I have are for the Intellivision, and they are stored in the boxes with the games.
  21. I mean, I already have the top loader... just thinking about the mod prices...
  22. So... just because it kinda came up... how much does it cost to get a top loader AV modded these days?
  23. Once again... crazy that Lawnmower Man is mostly one person... lol I mean, I have a decent sized chunk of those Suikoden II minutes... but that's at least a good game.
  24. Back in the day, I didn't have the money to play Pac Man for hours and hours... so why change anything? lol
