  1. The screenshots are from video after going through OBS and Twitch and whatever, and may be a bit out of 4:3 because I just eyeballed it, but none of that really matters. I see them on my TV whether I’m going through all that stuff or not. Flatscreen, CRT, rf, composite adapter, through upscaler or straight to tv, whatever… the lines are there.
  2. Okay, so when playing my Jaguar, I get these vertical lines on the screen. I think they get worse the longer I play, so maybe a heat related thing as the console warms up? But, they're not always there. I've attached a couple of screen shots below. These were taken after playing for around 6 hours pretty much continuously. The one with the lines was just a little before the "game over" screen. So they're not always there. It's on all games, so it's not the game. Only thing else I've noticed is that the wall wart power supply will start buzzing after a while, but I've read that is common for older wall warts. It is an OG Jaguar wall wart, btw, not an aftermarket or universal replacement... Anyway, any ideas? Is my system dying? Maybe need caps replaced? (I've never opened it up.) Also, these screenshots were taken while streaming, so there's a good bit of things going on (Composite cord (not OEM) to Retrotink 2x, to Elgato, to LCD TV), but the same lines show up when using the original RF adapter, so I don't think it has anything to do with the above listed adapters/hardware.
  3. Got a little more time on the Jaguar this week... streamed it some on Twitch. Atari Jaguar Tempest 2000 - 340 min (Was trying for top place on the high scores table. Top Score is 500,017 for some reason... no idea why the extra 17... anyway, my best is 492k. Best while streaming was 438k.) Raiden - 50 min (I was doing terrible. I'm way out of practice on this game. Back in 2018 I was in top form... and was actually able to get past the first loop. Today I didn't even get to the second boss.) Cybermorph - 60 min (It always annoys me that the only thing people know about this game is the "Where did you learn to fly?" quote and whatever they've heard on AVGN. It's not the greatest game ever, but it does work and that's more than I can say for some games I've played. I was having a bit of trouble with the controls... I'm sure I'd get used to them after a while, but I kept speeding up when I wanted to slow down. And I'm not sure that she even once said "Where did you learn to fly?" I mean, I tried to go back and watch the video, but after the sound was too loud at the beginning, I turned it down too low and couldn't hear it. Oh well.)
  4. Well, I lost my paper I was keeping track on, so I'm only putting in the minutes for a couple days here... no idea how much I really spent on it. PC No Man's Sky - 540 min (Doing more of the same... still haven't progressed the "main quest" any more... sending frigates on missions, doing a few missions from the space station (single player missions) and other side stuff.)
  5. Been watching a lot of Japanese travel and "van life" type videos lately. Anyway, guy in this one hooked up a PCEngine Mini and played some JJ and Jeff/Kato and Ken. Game is at around the 6:30 mark.
  6. Just one modern game this week. I bet you can guess what it was... PC No Man's Sky - 2120 min (Yeah... over 35 hours. I spent more time playing NMS this week than I spent at my actual job. I mean, I was off a day because of weather, but still. Also I spent most of that day off playing. Anyway, did much more with the freighter and missions for frigates and discovered that you can have settlements and roamed around a lot... so much to do.)
  7. My triumphant return! lol... just kidding... Just one classic game for me this week... Jaguar Tempest 2000 - 30 min (Been watching some streamers with the new Jaguar SD card cartridge (I forget the name) and it made me want to play some Tempest. Streamer I was watching was barely breaking 50,000 points, so I was curious what my high score was... it was in the upper 400k region. I still haven't broken that 500k mark to get top place on the score board.)
  8. I remember playing with the RNG on 16 for a bit to give me just enough of an edge to win. There's one of the buggy type near the middle of the map iirc which I would encounter first. I'd know by how many enemies died on that encounter whether I had the rng I needed. It seems like there was a set number... it'd either kill like 3, 4, or 5 or something like that. If I had the 5, I could kill it before it got away or back to a factory or something... can't really remember now... but even then, it was close. Also... just got down my copy and found notes that I had written back then... I found some cheats online or something and wrote them down. Even shows the misspelling on level 9. Apparently my source had it as "GOLOIS" which I have scratched out and "GALIOS" written. Also, my source had lvl 14 as "APPOLO" which again I have scratched out and corrected as "APOLLO". And for the levels after that... I have written on the back: 17 MILTON 18 IRAGAN 19 LIPTUS 20 INAKA 21 TETROS 22 ARBINE So I'm not sure that the Advanced ones listed above are correct... looks like they just spelled the first 16 backwards which would have made it easy to guess all of them. Also... I have other "cheats" listed... Swap sides: Choose 1-player cont., press and hold select and press the I button, then type in the code for the level. Spectator war: Same as above but choose 2-player cont. Sound Test: 1-player cont. and enter ONGAKU. EDIT: Unless those level codes are just for that PC version... maybe misread that earlier. Anyway, the codes I have above are for the TG version and I'm sure they're available online somewhere.
  9. This week's numbers... All on PC Forza Horizon 5 - 194 min (Really just logged on to do this week's challenges. Got a couple new cars. Did a rival. I've been winding down on this since the people I was playing with have stopped playing it as much. Seems crazy that a game only a couple months old is now... well... old.) No Man's Sky - 1979 min (So much to do in this game. Hasn't gotten old yet. Upgrading stuff, building the base, doing the quests, and generally just goofing off. I'm not advancing the main quest that fast. Having fun doing other stuff. But that means that some upgrades that you get doing the quests, I've already gotten by the time I do the quest. So I get no reward. Oh well. I streamed this one this week and was naming different animals on a planet after viewers in the chat. Had fun with that. Also was playing in the PermaDeath mode while streaming. First game didn't last very long... but the second one survived the early ordeals and was doing okay. May continue with that on stream next week.)
  10. Since Bonk's Adventure is being brought up... I'll toot my own Bonk horn a bit. Here's a video of me beating it "speed" running. I put "speed" in quotation marks, because I'm actually not that fast... World Record is around 27 minutes, and I'm at 47 minutes. But since not many people run it, 47 min is still good enough for 9th place on speedrun.com. (currently) Also, you can get across the bone bridge, but it's always close. (bridge at 17 min) Other highlights include Skipping part of the dinosaur innards at 2:45. One Cycle of Kongo Zilla at 18:50. Skipping a huge chunk of the level at 25:08. King Drool fight at 41:00.
  11. I can bet that I have most of the Suikoden minutes on both trackers... I played through all five main line games last year, but stopped tracking them somewhere during 4 probably... Thanks for running the trackers carlsson, I hope to be back in them more regularly in 2022.
  12. Hey all, long time no see. I've been really bad about not timing my gaming at all lately, so I haven't been posting... well I finally timed everything and wrote it down this week. Hopefully I can keep that going. Windows PC (these were through the XBox PC Game Pass thingie...) Forza Horizon 5 - 310 min (Really played this a lot when it came out, but slowly winding down. Played with some guys from Twitch and had a lot of fun. But they've moved on so it's not as fun as it used to be. I've already done all the races and stuff, so now it's just the weekly challenges and messing about with rivals and whatever accolades I think I can get. Got quite a few top 1% times on the rivals... reasonably proud of that.) No Man's Sky - 1940 min (Been playing a LOT of this. I remember when it came out, people were mad because it didn't live up to the promises made by the developers or something. And then I think they made a lot of fixes and updates and such, and people started saying it was a lot better. I never tried it. Then I saw it on Game Pass and figured, what the heck, I'll give it a try. Nothing to lose... except time. I have been completely drawn into flying around and learning languages and mining minerals and finding new ships and building bases and fighting space battles and only barely following the main quest line... Super fun if you want open world kind of goof off fun. I would have played more today, but had stuff I had to do after work.) I've been playing Final Fantasy 3/6/whatever for my Twitch stream, but didn't play it this week. It would have been in the other tracker, though. So maybe next week I'll have something in both trackers again.
  13. Just one for me... Week of 10/10 to 10/16 PS2 Suikoden 5 - 328 min (Made progress, and some NPCs showed up for some characters that I thought I was too late to recruit. So I'm now on route to the full 108 roster!)
  14. Only a couple classic game for me this week. PS1 Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - (60 min) - An old classic. Playing some mainly because I was watching someone else play on Twitch and it always makes me want to play it when I watch someone else play it. Diablo - (480 min) - Spent some time playing this one. I've played through Diablo 3, but never really spent any time with 1 or 2. It's slow, and clunky, and tedious, and there's a lot of backtracking and going back and forth to town to sell stuff because of the very limited inventory... but I'm having fun. Been playing Warrior... about to start a Rogue.
  15. Yeah, I think for me, the ranking the games, it's 2, 5, 1, 3, 4. The top three are really close, and the bottom two are pretty distant. There are a few things that came with the 3D and some that were just poor decisions (I think). My issues with 5 must be in the emulator or settings or something, because I've seen people play the game with actual hardware/software, and it works great. Only thing I don't like is not being able to change/rotate the view in towns. You can zoom in, but if something's hidden behind something, it's just hidden. You can walk around hitting the button to see if something opens up, but otherwise... In 3, I hated how the viewpoint changed and therefore changed how you needed to press the button. There were a few times that I'd be going one way, the scene would change, the way I was pressing would be a different direction than the previous view, and it would make me run back into the previous room. I also didn't like the way combat worked... six people, but they were stuck in two person units, and only one spell could be cast per unit. So even if you had six people with runes, you could only cast 3 spells per turn. Bleh. Also didn't like the limited map, with towns and areas connected by paths. Seemed too restrictive. Breath of Fire 4 is like that if you've played it. In 4, I didn't mind the ships or the ship combat (which I've heard people complain about). The encounter rate was way too high, meaning getting anywhere took forever because you kept getting stopped by fights. Also didn't like that it was only 4 people per party. Only one in the series that had only 4 people. It also seemed too restricted as far as locations go and I HATED the way the main character looked. Even though it sounds like I had more gripes about 3, I still think it was more fun than this one. As far as the squirrels go... that was in 2. You get the first one, Mukumuku, from the tree behind your grandfather's house at the beginning of the game. The rest you can recruit later (but I don't think they counted for the 108 stars). They weren't the best characters, but are fun.
  16. lol Carlsson I'll go ahead and put in numbers so there in there and I don't forget. PS2 Suikoden V - 1140 min (Really an excellent Suikoden game. This one is the most like Suikoden 1 and 2 on the PS1. The story is really pretty good, too, with some twists and turns and some sad cutscenes. No one who can really compare with Nanami for comedic value, though. She is still one of my favorites from S2. While Suikoden 1 - 4 were on the PS Store for PS3, 5 was not for some reason, so I'm having to emulate it. The actual disc is just too expensive for me right now. And I've been having this issue throughout the game where my character can only move in 8 directions (up, down, left, right and the diagonals) which makes running some places annoying because of instead of running straight down a hall for example, I have to zigzag. That's annoying, but the game is still playable. The real control problem is with the fishing mini-game. You're in a boat that you can move around and the cast your line in any direction... except it won't let me move either my boat or the line. So I'm stuck in one spot and only being able to cast the line directly in front of the boat... so instead of chasing down fish you can see on the map, I can only catch fish that swim into the circle right in front of the boat. Not sure if this is something related to the 8-way only movement issue or something unrelated. Regardless, I haven't found any solution. Oh well.)
  17. Man, I really need to get back into posting here. I just keep forgetting to pay attention to times. I've been working on Suikoden V for the PS2, but not gonna post minutes until later this week, and even then it'll just be an approximation.
  18. Late entry, but last week I played... PS2 Suikoden 3 - 336 min (Finished! It was a pretty good game, but although there are three different options for who is the "successor" during the story, I don't know that I would replay it to see how things change. At least not right away.) Suikoden 4 - 270 min (Just started. I think this is the lowest regarded of the five main line Suikoden games, but playing it mostly blind as well. Not very far into the game at all, but the only thing I don't like so far is the design of the main character. Just think he's ugly.)
  19. I've played through Suikoden 1 and 2 several times, but this was my first time ever playing 3 and was doing it blind... no walk through or anything... well, except cheating on the duels. But I played through 1, 2, and 3 in a row and now working on 4. It's apparently the Summer of Suikoden for me. Although I used to have physical software for 1 and 2, they were lost long ago. So I got 1, 2, 3 and 4 from the Playstation Store on my PS3. Not exactly sure what I'll be doing for 5 just yet, but the plan is to go through all 5.
  20. Finished Suikoden 3 today! And started Suikoden 4. So now instead of filling up minutes in the Modern Games Tracker with S3, it'll be S4. lol
  21. Another week of Suikoden 3... PS2 Suikoden 3 - 1021 min (Got past boss that killed me multiple times last week and played until I lost another boss battle. Then it was time for grinding and levleing and equipping people. Played about 14 hours on stream, and another 3 or so off.)
  22. I'm pretty sure that Suikoden 1 and 2 are all me. lol... And now I'm putting Suikoden 3 on the Modern board...
  23. Same ol game... PS2 Suikoden 3 - 1197 min (My wife was away most of the week pet sitting, so I played more than usual. Wednesday I actually, without meaning to, streamed for almost 12 hours (11 hours 54 min). Got a really good ways into Chapter 4. I was right that something "big" plotwise happened at the beginning of chapter 4, but I won't spoil it here. Don't remember how far I got on that first stream, but my stream the next day was about 7 hours and I got up to a big boss fight... which I wiped out on. Since one of my main strategies on passing hard parts of RPGs is brute force, I grinded some levels for about an hour after the stream. The boss I wiped out on is like the second boss in a row, so I'm thinking next time I'm going to see if I can go back and rest and save after the first boss so that I can go into the second boss battle with full health and all my spells available... I'm also gonna grind some more.)
  24. I don't see myself playing anything else this evening, so I'll go ahead and post my time... PS2 Suikoden 3 - 1260 min (Basing this on the game save times. Noted that I started at 34 hours into the game, and when I stopped playing the other day it was at 55. 21 hours over about three days. I played a bit one day, but then had a long stream and continued playing until late after that stream, and then played another long stream the next day. I ended the other day with each main character (Geddoe, Hugo, and Chris) at the end of chapter 3 and Thomas done with his chapter 2. I have a feeling that something big is coming up as all three mains have come together at the same place at the same time at the end of the chapter. I'm playing this blind and enjoying it so far.)
  25. Later than I usually post, but then it's not really much... PS2 Suikoden 3 - 120 min (Time approximate. Just played long enough to finish a chapter and then didn't touch it the rest of the week.)
