  1. Confessions:

    As far as controller abuse,

I have a 360 controller that the right bumper button doesn't click anymore. It goes in and works, but no click.

I have another 360 controller that has a rechargeable battery pack because the old battery cover/pack got broken somehow. ;)

I have a TurboGrafx-16 controller that has bite marks on it.

Super Mario 64, second time you race the Koopa turtle thingie... yeah, it pissed me off. Broke my hand hitting the floor. Beat it with 120 stars with two pins in my right hand.

As far as just weird confessions go,

I think some of the girl models on Rock Band II are really hot and I sometimes get distracted when playing.

  2. Not to me. With each generation, there seems to be fewer and fewer platform exclusives. I mean, in the 8 bit days, almost every game was an exclusive, then in the 16 bit days, we started to see more games like Mortal Kombat that crossed platform lines. These days, about the only games that are platform exclusives are first party games or games that require something specific to the system (like the Wii's motion controls for example).

I've got a Wii and a 360. I haven't seen anything yet that makes me think I need to get a PS3. The closest was the latest Gran Turismo. But I just went and got Forza III and I'm happy with that for now.

  3. Heck, there are tons that I have never beaten.

I am proud to say that I have beaten Castlevania several times. Used daggers on Frankenstein iirc, and always used triple shot boomerangs on Death.

The only Zelda I have beaten is Twilight Princess. The others I just end up getting bored with and never play them long enough to finish them.

I also haven't beaten Super Star Wars or Super ESB. I've never really sat down and made up my mind to give them a serious shot though. Maybe this Summer I'll try again.

  4. I got 0. :lolblue: I was expecting it to be like quiz where it gives a bit of trivia or shows a picture and you have to name it. I'm a complete moron when it comes to actual release dates.

Same, I didn't try it. I would probably get a few right, but I don't remember the dates all these things came out. If it was a bunch of pictures and said, "What system is this?" I'd probably do okay.

  5. I think it comes down to their target demographic. The biggest demo is teenage boys. And reading is like kryptonite to most of them. I think a lot of it is also that there is a bigger promotional push and name recognition with movies, so it's not as difficult to advertise the game associated with them.

But yeah, there were games of varying quality based on many novels and stories. Many have already been mentioned: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Discworld, Dune... I think there have been games based on the Sherlock Holmes character and those that are just loosely tied to the books they share a name with (I'm looking at you Dante's Inferno).

I'd like to see some more modern games based on the short stories of Edgar Allan Poe in some way. Dark and gloomy, maybe survival horror of some kind, like an emo Resident Evil or something, but with more ravens... the only one I can think of is an old point and click adventure that I've forgotten the name of...

  6. Yeah, Zool2 is pretty fun. Fast and responsive. The levels can be a little confusing in places and the jumps and landings a little squirrely, but I played the Hell out of it when I first got my Jag. I actually saw Zool1 for the SNES at a resale shop and considered buying it but haven't.

  7. I wouldn't say that I'm a "huge" fan, but I have enjoyed some of them over the years. I mentioned the TurboGrafx game Moto Roader in another thread recently as one that I used to rent and play with a friend of mine. I also used to put a few quarters into Ivan Stewart Off Road arcade machine when I went to Aladdin's Castle arcade. I think the steering wheel made that one more fun.

  8. I've always been partial to the card type games. Just the fact that they are so small. So games like the SMS card games and the TG-16 games just seemed like some neat engineering.

The NES games always felt a bit clunky to me. Jaguar games have an interesting look... curved with a handle... but I remember people being annoyed with the lack of end labels on them, as well. I think there's even a thread where someone was designing end labels for them, but I'm too lazy to look it up. Although I don't necessarily like either the SMS or Genesis cartridges, I do like how they didn't really change size much, the Genesis just got more rounded. Like they evolved.

I also agree that disc games themselves are usually quite boring. Possible exceptions are the Game Cube games (for being small), the old Playstation games (that had black surfaces), and Blu Ray games (because they're blu). The packaging was pretty standard stuff, too.

  9. The Turbo is really known for its shmups of which there are many great ones: R-Type, Raiden, Blazing Lazers, Super Star Soldier, and Gate of Thunder (CD game). It wasn't as strong in sports games. I have TV Sports Football but never play it. It was a game that they liked to feature on advertisements. The field goal screen was pretty neat showing huge players. World Court Tennis is pretty fun. It has kind of an RPG feel to it where you go from town to town playing matches. Don't have any racing games, but back when the TG was new, a friend and I rented Moto Roader and it was pretty fun. It's a top down racer (so you look at the cars more like Spy Hunter and less like Pole Position).
