Even though my unplayed game shelf might say otherwise, I do not buy games to keep sealed. I just haven't gotten around to playing them yet. Especially once I signed up for PS Plus.

Hmm...maybe I can keep my PS3 version sealed and eventually sell it as RARE, R4R3 or whatever after all!

Not much for there for me. I already have Batman. The rest (again, for me) is probably a quick checkout and then move on to something else. The good thing is, I have plenty of other stuff to keep me busy.

I don't have an extra one (Can't believe someone would pay nearly 60 bucks...original packaging or not). I can say before I got mine some 20+ years ago, I "notched" many disks using a pair of fingernail clippers and never had a problem. Other items I've heard people use include a hole punch, scissors and get this...their teeth.

Haha! I died in the exact same spot. In one of the rooms, I hid in a locker, but the dude didn't leave. I made the mistake of just trying to jump out and run past him. I ended up not being able to see and bumped into something and he caught me.

Played a few minutes of the game. Is it scary? Not really in my opinion. Does it get dark and quiet and all of a sudden something goes "BANG" and jumps out at you? Yes! I couldn't help but think Doom III without guns.

I'm just about finished downloading. Should be able to give it a try before bed. I hope it doesn't give me nightmares!

I just finished Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. I didn't think I'd like it. I didn't think controlling two characters at the same time would work. I was pretty much wrong on both accounts. I say pretty much, because occassionally I would have trouble with the controls. As long as I made sure to keep the younger brother on my right and the older on my left, I was fine. But as soon as they crossed for any reason, I would end up going in the exact opposite direction that I intended. Very short game (under three hours), but fun! In the end, I never would have purchased this game (and still would not unless I found it for a buck or something). But as a PS Plus freebie, I'll take it.

I'm sure all of you know this, but just in case you're hiding under a rock somewhere, virtually all online retailers have the Playstation Plus 1-Year membership cards available for $29.99 (down from $49.99) today. I've already picked one up and am debating grabbing another (it seems you can stack them). That would mean I would have the 1 month free that came with the PS4 plus an additional 24 for 60 bucks. Not bad!

In addition to others that have been mentioned, I'll give a shout out to Infocom.

My thoughts...well at least on what I could do when it was running: 1) Boot times are pretty fast.....when it boots. Hopefully the replacement will be here tomorrow and my problems will go away. 2) PSN Speed - The only thing I did was download updates, but that was very fast. 3) PSN in general - Not much there right now. I didn't see any demos for the other games. Really there's only Resogun and Contrast. Yes, there are a couple of other Free-To-Play, but I don't have much interest in those. 4) The Camera - Do you need it? Well, if you plan on streaming your game-playing, it might come in handy and is cheaper than a PVR. But right now, it seems like it's mostly just a novelty. The only app that I'm aware of that uses it is the "tech demo" Playroom. Though I do have to admit that I got some enjoyment out of playing (when the console wasn't crashing) with those little bots. 5) Games - I only installed NBA 2k14 right now. Once the issues gets taken care of, I'll install the other ones. I agree with many others though in that none of what I've played or seen videos of really scream out "OH WOW! NEXTGEN!". I do have to wonder though why the camera wasn't incorporated into the NBA game. I mean, when you do create player, it would have been cool to have had the ability to take your picture and really pull your face into the game. The only other "issues" I have with the game existed in the last version (NBA 2k12) I had in that no matter what I make my player look like, he always sounds the same. And there isn't much of a desparity in how they look based on height and weight. For example, I create a guy that was 6'2" and when he stood next to Lebron James, he looked him in the eye. 6) PS Plus - I haven't used this, though I'd maybe like to at some point. I don't like being asked to enter my credit card information to use a trial. I realize that many companies do this and I believe it's just a ploy to hope that you'll forget to cancel it so they can charge you. Like I said, I do plan on getting it once the current system issues are resolved and I actually determine that if I don't want to play online, that the instant collection would keep it worth it (I do have the PSP, PS Vita, PS3 and now PS4). It'll be interesting to see how much "support" the PS3 gets as the PS4 gets going.

On another forum, I read where an owner had contacted Amazon customer service and that they had shipped them a replacement console with overnight shipping. So before I went to bed, I sent an e-mail explaining the issues I was having. This morning, I received an e-mail from them and they have placed a replacement order on my behalf and it's supposed to be here tomorrow. No ship it back first...though they are supposed to be sending me another e-mail with instructions for me to send back the "defective" unit. So evidently, Amazon has kept back some units to use for replacements. If you're having difficulty with yours, and if you purchased it from Amazon, you might give it a try.

Annnddddd.....I'm convinced something is wrong with the unit. Shortly after my post above, I was messing around with the playroom (trying to play peek-a-boo). The bots must not have liked it because I heard a loud buzz and the system shut off by itself. Now, I can't get it to come back on. When I hit power, I'll just get the flashing blue light. If I hold onto the button, it just shuts off. So I went back to Amazon to do an exchange and it can't because they are out of stock. Ahh...but I have a trick up my sleeve. It's eligible to be returned through January and I do have another unit coming from Walmart next month. So, I'll stick it out for now and we'll see how things go.

I did get the BLOD, but was able to reboot to safe mode, reset the resolution to 480p, reboot, then I could set the resolution to 1080p and go about my business with no trouble. It was to the point where I assumed that it might be my TV when I noticed that I had AnyNet+ turned on and it was trying to detect the PS4. I turned that off and last night it booted fine. However, when I went to shutdown it got "stuck" at the blue light and I had to pull the plug. So tonight, when I got home from work, it started again, scanned the drive and then told me about the 1.51 update. After finishing the download, it said it was going to reboot and install it. Then it went back to the BLOD again and I couldn't get anything. So I waited for a bit...restarted it again (not that it wouldn't start from the controller, I had to use the console itself) and everything came up and the update installed. At this point, I'm fairly certain the problem isn't with my TV. I should mention I used another small 720p TV with an HDMI connection to test with the same results. What I'm not sure of is if it's a hardware issue or a software issue.

I saw the same thing. And though I already had a preorder from Walmart for December, went ahead and grabbed one anyway. I even got it before midnight. I was on the site and it didn't say in stock, but there was a link that said 1 new. No sooner then I completed checkout, I noticed that other editions were "in stock" which was great. I immediately cancelled the previous order and added a new one...this time for the console only! That most upsetting part is Walmart will not allow me to cancel my order. This thing has been a nightmare with them. When I placed the preorder several weeks ago, they tried to put a hold on my card. They ended up not charging me. The next week, they did it again. I called them and asked them why they were charging me when it wasn't shipping for another month. "To make sure funds are available" or something like that was the answer I got. I'm pretty sure they didn't actually end up putting the charge through though. Assuming that it the case, I'll either deny the charge when they try it again, ask a co-worker if they want to buy it, work a deal out with my nephew to see if he wants it. Anyway, I won't have it on launch day, but that's okay. With my Prime membership, it should be here by Tuesday. The funny thing? I don't plan on playing much! I'll be using the free month of PS Plus to download "stuff" for the PS3, PS Vitia, PSP first.
