  1. Unix only? Or are there any Windows (with SQL Server) plans? Thanks.
  2. We'll see what happens with the nextgen, but if the rumors are true, I'll stick with what I have. I have more then enough games and games that I could get for things I have to keep me more then busy the rest of my life. I don't like paying $60 for a brand new game. But for certain titles that I know I'll play enough to get my money's worth, I will. But there are other games that maybe I want, but won't play a lot if at all finish it. That, to me, is where the used marked comes in. I don't care about playing online, so that doesn't bother me. What does bother me...and this actually happened with one of my favorite PS3 games, is when I put the disk in and on the menu is a mode that when I click on it, I'm told I have to pay an additional $XX.00 to be able to download it. I don't like all the download stuff either. I mean, it's great...and the prices are cheap. But how come I can't put them on an external drive that I could "register" with my device. That way, I'm not constantly trying to figure out what I want to play and then make a decision only to find out I have to delete something to make room for it and redownload it. Speaking of downloads...DLC...ugh...don't get me started. I understand people want to make money, but when it gets to the point that I don't OWN what I buy (that is, I pay for a use-license and the game is online) or I can't buy cheap used games (which if I end up really liking it might actually get me to buy a new sequel of the game by the way) and if I'm forced to pay additional money on top of the 60 dollars I already spent to get the rest of the game, then I'm done. I'll take all my Atari (2600, 7800), Sega (Genesis, CD, 32X, Dreamcast), Nintendo (64, WII U), Microsoft (Xbox, Xbox 360), Sony (PS1, PS2 and PS3) and let's not forget the good ol C64 stuff and have a blast!

  4. Played through about the first 40 levels of Jetpack Joyride. Then played about half (did I mention I suck at shooters?) of Crysis 2. I would do so much better if I could actually see the guys shooting at me.
  5. Yep...pretty cool. Fits in well with the thread I used to post in here about videogames in TV/Movies.
  6. I just got mine today! I haven't tested anything requiring a disk swap yet, but I'm pretty sure all you do is hit the middle button to bring up the menu and mount the image you need. An example can be seen here (Not my video):
  7. Nothing like bumping a thread that is over three years old. Anyway, since the time I last posted any pics, my collection has grown quite a bit. Unfortunately, most of them are now blu-ray. Not that it's a bad thing, but it seems to be a pain to be able to do a cap of a scene without jumping through a bunch of hoops. I suppose I could try the camera on my phone though....hmmm.....
  8. Dead Island (PS3) Quake III Arena (PC) Super Mario Bros. U (Wii-U)
  9. Got the Neo Geo X. Dunno why other then it's "cool". The hand-held is okay...but what I really want to do is hook up the controller to my PC and use it for MAME.

Sometimes, that it's "cool" is enough. Congrats!

  10. It's 30 degrees colder then it was a couple of days ago. But I need to get out and walk down the drive to check the mail. Supposed to be some C64 goodies there!

  11. For those of you looking for a Wii-U, I just noticed Gamestop has them online right now (basic and deluxe).

No problem. That makes two of us that won't be waiting in line. And I can wait for it to get here, so that's not a problem either. :)

Same here....I saw it ships on the 26th so pretty cool...now I hope they add extra controllers for sale in the future :)

  12. Hooked up my C64 and 1541 drive for the first time in over 15 years. Computer itself is working, but the drive just gives me a clickity-clickity-clickclickclick and stops with "File Not Found" errors on every disk. Hopefully, it just needs a cleaning!

Sounds like your 1541 needs an alignment actually.

Cleaned everything. Still not reading any disks (directory or loading a program). Read the error channel and it's giving READ ERROR 23 or 27. Both mention grounding problems...Bad serial cable maybe? Tried a Blue Chip drive as well (different power supply, but same serial cable) with same results.

I actually have a UIEC coming soon. Is it possible to use that to load up a disk alignment program and use it against the drive?

  13. All I can think of after reading that: "All your base R belong to me"
  14. Odd....both of these are on ebay right now. The Water Ski is at .99 and the Tank Command is at 102.50 with nearly 6 days remaining! I guess that's why I don't collect those "rare" carts. Though I do have Water Ski I think.....(runs into other room to check).......okay back...yep...I have it sealed in box. I actually got it for free off ebay. I had bought another boxed game and the seller took so long to ship he offered to give me another game. Good luck with your sales!
  15. Al, That's cool. I'm not worried about the trading. How about at least tracking your collection? Thanks!
  16. Would it be possible to allow the linking to videos for the games? I see there are reviews, but it would be cool if you could click on a game and then be able to see a video...be it an old commercial, an online review or gameplay, etc. Also, I thought that a couple of years ago, it was being discussed where you could "add games to your collection". This would lead to the ability for someone to track his or her collection which, in turn, could easily allow people to set up trades. Plus, it would be cool. Thanks!
  17. Debating on how I want to redo my dvd/bluray collection. Cheaper solution is to purchase 5 or 6 200+ CD/DVD cases and a large tote or two. In other words, keeping the disks downstairs while moving the cases into a tote and into a closet for storage. Nerdy (and expensive) solution is to buy a 10 tb NAS and rip all the disks and store them online. Would still need to buy a tote or two to store the originals. I'm leaning towards the first solution.

  18. It's a bit like Christmas around here as I'm doing some cleaning and re-arranging of things. I just found a manual for Hook on the Sega CD which I thought I had lost years ago. I also thought I had lost the case. I wonder if it's in one of these boxes that haven't been opened in years? I doubt it, but it's going to be fun to look.

  19. The weekend started off with a stop at Gamestop looking for some cheap PS2 games. Since their online store thinks that I'm a reseller for wanting to purchase a bunch of their buy 2 get 2 free games to jumpstart my smallish collection, I thought maybe I could find some in-store. Every store I stopped at, was the same old thing...nothing. Each store I checked told me they had just shipped out all of their PS2 games, but the XYZ location down the street still had them. The last store I stopped at though finally turned the tides. He told me of a small "mom-and-pop" store just a few miles from his store. So off I go... When I walked into the store, I figured I was in the right place. It just smelled old. Not old in a bad way though. The guy at the counter greeted me as I came in, but then left me alone the entire time I was in the store. I picked up the following PS2 games all complete with their boxes and instruction manuals: Jak 3 Jak X Combat Racing 24 The Game Prince of Persia, The Two Thrones James Bond 007 Agent Under Fire Test Drive Prince of Persia, The Sands of Time Prince of Persia 2, The Warrior Within Tak 3: The Great Juju Challenge Tak and The Power of Juju Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams Gran Turismo 3 Gran Turismo 4 The prices were not the best, but certainly not bad. All of them were less then $3.00 and most were no more then $1.99. I didn't spot any Resident Evil or Silent Hill games which I have on my list. I did see a Shadow of The Collosus, but there wasn't a manual, so I passed on it this time. There were stickers on the cases, but not the annoying yellow ones like you see at Gamestop which are horribly difficult to get off. During checkout, they ran each disk through a buff/cleaning machine. It took a few minutes, but it was okay as I got to look around a bit more. Other items that I saw: Current gen games (Plenty, but didn't look through them) A small bit of Atari 2600 and Collecovision games, All were carts only and the few I looked at seemed a bit overpriced to me. Example--Combat was $0.99 and a white label Space Shuttle was $19.99. There were some NES, SNES and N64 games. I didn't look too closes at these. There were DS in a case and in a box that were buy 2 get 1 free. From the sign, it said most were $3.99 and less. Genesis carts were few, though most were boxed. I saw only 3 or 4 Sega CD games. The rest of the Sega section was all Saturn and Dreamcast stuff. They had a small section for PS1, but from what I looked through, the selection seemed limited. There were large selections of music CDs, DVDs and a few BluRay. But, I didn't look through these much. Another small section I didn't look through much had gamecube stuff in it. If you're into posters, they had a bunch of those as well. I'm not, so I didn't look through them. While waiting on them to clean and buff the disks I was buying, I saw a Panasonic 3DO. I was excited until I saw the Ebayish price. No games and a price tag of $99. That shows you the kind of deal you'll get if you take that deal for $70 (console and 13 games) in the marketplace thread. I would have, but I don't do checks anymore and would rather not be out running around to get a money order and then mail it, etc. There were other consoles that seemed to be priced in line with ebay as well. N64 ($40 with expansion pack...$30 without expansion pack), a Goldstar 3DO for $79. After seeing these prices, I didn't bother looking at the 2600 and 7800 consoles they had. Though I did look at the 2600 Sears Heavy Sixer that was missing a price. There was also a bluray 3D player with an HDMI cable for 80 bucks. So overall, I had a blast and I have to say I'll probably be going back at some point for some more PS2 games. The prices were pretty good (I compared a few of what I got against prices on jjgames and estarland and each one I payed less) and I liked being able to open and examine the cases and manuals before deciding. Summing up the weekend, I'd say pretty good. Even though I bought the PS2 when it first came out, I didn't get a lot of games for it. I think it was somewhere around 14 or 15 total. So with the 13 games today and the Clock Tower 3 I'm getting from Ax here on the forums, I nearly doubled the size of my collection. Only 1700+ games to go!
  20. Actually received a response today. As I was clicking on it, I was sure it would be a canned response...I just didn't expect this: "We apologize however we are only able to process international orders where the country matches in all areas. This includes: the shipping and billing address, the location you are attempting the order and the issuing country of the credit card. If you have additional questions, we are here for you. You can respond to this email, or if you prefer to speak to someone directly, you can reach us 7 days a week 8am ? 8pm at 800-883-8895." Wait...what? International orders? I've heard my state called a lot of things, but I never realized it was another country! I may just have to call them over the weekend and see who I get to talk to and what they can tell me about my recent move!
  21. lol. Like I said, I do get some pretty decent deals from time-to-time. But I'll never try to buy from them online ever again. It seems from the research I did, it probably gave me the error message not because there was a problem with my bank account, but because I was flagged for trying to purchase a boatload of games at once which automatically means I'm a reseller!
