You're right about it being Tommo (my misread) but the question remains why "Math Gran Prix" as opposed to, say, "Yar's Revenge"?

Atari's assets were sold *again* and on this page they list who bought what. Most of it relates to newer titles and franchises, but a company named "Humongous" bought Math Gran Prix. I remember seeing ads for that in Popular Science magazine at the time and I searched PopSci's online archive and found it in the October 1983 issue at the following link. I got Space Invaders along with my 2600 in 1982 (and there was nobody at home who would really want to play Combat, the included game) so I'm guessing that I played Space Invaders first on my own personal 2600. Previously I'd played the typical games that friends would have at their house or at the store display - Space Invaders, Asteroids, Missile Command, Circus Atari, Adventure, etc.

I've been experiencing that since the 80s, when everyone moved on to NES and I continued to play Super Breakout (and love it). I just play whatever I like and ignore the rest. Even the kid with the Atari shirt who doesn't actually play Atari is contributing to the mystique and awareness of this "other time" that had such an impact (nobody's wearing Fairchild shirts, for instance). Similarly, I saw someone wearing a Vincent Price t-shirt and when I asked him which VP movie was his favorite he said he hadn't seen any (which I can't believe because VP was in Edward Scissorhands).

All/any I saw from when they first came out to when I could finally buy one in 1982, though I only had enough money for one cartridge and that cartridge was Space Invaders.

Street Racer/Scoop Ball. Most of the cartridge is repetitive and dull but Scoop Ball has always been an addictive favorite. And Backgammon.

Desktop Tower Defense, especially now with online multiplayer.

Not being a fan of arcade Pac-Man I enjoyed my Atari Pac-Man cartridge probably as much as other cartridges on my B-list. However, being a major fan of Gorf at the arcade I was supremely and profoundly disappointed by the CBS Gorf cartridge. I tried to return it but they wouldn't take it back. That was definitely the low point of my 2600 days. Rik

I have quibbles with the Atari Paddle games. Street Racer is missing "Scoop Ball" (one of my favorites for over two decades) and some of the Super Breakout sounds are wrong. I have a Sega Genesis 5-in-1 with Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Flicky and Kid Chameleon that I got a lot of play out of (I never owned a Genesis). I love to become the Weretiger.

I just bought a Sega Master System with seven games from eBay. It's the first console I've bought since I replaced my 1982 2600 with a 2600 jr. in 1990! I almost bought a Sega Master System 3D bundle around that time when they were heavily discounted after being discontinued, come to think of it. I got it because it had the 3D glasses and four 3D games (which is defective, only one eye flashes), but it also included R-Type and I've become absolutely obsessed with that game so I consider the 50 bucks well spent. I tried a friend's 3D adapter card but it didn't work either (neither eye flashes).
