  1. I'm atariguide_buyer...

They're all common games from the ones that I went thru, with russian labels. No big deal, a nice compact collection however. I couldn't get a story about the russian labels, but they don't look at all like they were done recently. The cart has a little switch so it's compatible with more of the chips. The roms are US roms (not eproms) from what I checked. There is a bucket load of them tho, so maybe something will turn up. About 20% don't work.

  2. Game, set and match. Some of my prices are shots in the dark (if you see something that looks way out of whack, please drop me a note!), but on the more common stuff it's pretty much an art form. I've gone thru thousands and thousands of atari carts and my prices are based on how fast an item sells and how many are available. Pitfall sells at X rate, and so an international edition pitfall is worth more then the regular pitfall based on applying that rate. The actual formula is an exercise for the reader :) You can get the raw prices on the CD-Rom, which also includes links to ebay to make it easy to search for that particular game. They are also available in other places on the site.

If you're after a series of carts, like the red labels, or the blue labels, or every version of combat that came out, the adjusted prices give you an idea of how well you've done.

AtariGuide is not something I make money with, it's a hobby. I use the money that is generated to buy rare and unusual carts which will eventually be added to the site, and to pay my slaves who clean and bag all the carts :)

  4. The whois says phillyclassic/david newman - last update 2/2003. I checked netsol and godaddy. Not that it's not obviously a cheap hack, who cares, etc. Of course, they'd prob' be wise not to host their webserver on their primary nameserver.

ADMIN EDIT: While this is public information that can be found elsewhere, I have removed it out on request of privacy. I hope you all can understand.

  5. Hi, got a variant of river raid by Digivision labeled "River Raid Neght". Can't find anything anywhere about this game, no roms, no screenshots. The ROM is modified from river raid, it has a black background, the fuel meter is gone, and Activision is replaced with something I can't quite make out. Anyway, I wanted to dump the rom but really have no idea how and probably don't have the time to figure it out by myself. Anyone willing to lend a hand or have really clear instructions on how to dump roms, or by any chance know where there's a rom of this cart?

Here's what I've got on it:

    Thanks,

  6. The prices on the website pages are what I charge for games, not what I think they are worth. Sometimes I sell games for less then they are worth, and for rare ones it is often more. If you want the low down, you can check the list:

The Master List of Atari 2600 Carts

    http://www.atariguide.com/lists/masterlist2.html

There's two valuations there, mine, and the 32 pricedb price. Neither are the price I sell carts at.

    There's also:

The Compact List of Atari 2600 Carts

    http://www.atariguide.com/lists/masterlist1.html

    but that doesn't have prices.

You have to realize, I have a lot of overhead on this project right now, particularly in terms of how much time I spend on it. It's remarkably difficult not just to get thousands of carts listed on a website, manage the inventory, and be able to ship stuff in 24 hours. The website is NOT a source of income for me, it's an e-Commerce experiment. I work in search engine technology, and that's all I'll say on that :)

There's two types of people around, old timers, and newbies. I think a lot of people newbies have good experiences when they first rediscover Atari; but I bet a lot of people have bad experiences, and most don't end up here, they just go away. I aim to make every customer happy, which is good for everyone... unless of course you want all the Atari stuff for yourself!

If you want 10 carts that you remember playing ($20), and a rebuilt Atari that is guaranteed to work ($55), with brand new joysticks and power supply, you can come to me. I guarantee your satisfaction, or your money back. Let me know you read this, and pay by paypal, and if it's before November 2003 I'll give you 15% off your first order, excluding shipping, except for any carts which are priced over $50.

And of course, I'm still trying to get ALL the atari carts. And put them on the site. I just added the Polyvox section.
