Okay, I'm extremely new to the Atari ST (and the workings of computers, for that matter). So, please go easy on me here! I'd be very grateful if you could answer the questions in brackets that I'm going to scatter around this explanation.
I bought an Atari 520 ST with a couple of games, a mouse, 2 joysticks, an external floppy drive (why do I need this?), and a bunch of cables. I have an old CRT monitor that will apparently work with it (why do people wish to come across Atari monitors- are they better in any way?). I bought all of this for £16 or around 30USD (is this a fair price, or is it slightly high? Take into account that 360 games, for example, are about £40 here, and around $40USD in the US).
Now, mainly, I'm just wondering how I can make the most out of my Atari. I haven't tested the system yet and I mainly bought it for the chance to produce music on it. I've heard of a couple of great music programs that were released for it, such as Cubase. The only problem is finding a copy (which needs to include a dongle). Does anybody know of what I should be willing to pay for a copy if I'm fortunate enough to stumble upon one? Also (sorry if this question is utterly moronic), will I be able to connect a Microkorg synthesiser up to the Atari in order to record to Cubase?
Also, can anybody recommend any good games that are worth buying? I think I have Breakball and Gauntlet (I think... I'll check soon).
I've been searching around on ebay, and a mouse went for £9. This price, to me, seems a bit outrageous. Why are people willing to pay so much for something that's packaged with the system?
Sorry if this hasn't been very well structured. I just had a big build-up of questions brewing .
Thanks in advance to anybody willing to help!
