  1. I havent touched Highlander in in 10+ years. My memories of it are, as others have noted, that it was excessively frustrating and difficult to get used to the controls in the very beginning of the game so I died and didnt get very far for a very long time. However (and I dont know why) I stuck with it and once I figured how best to work with the controls for what they were, I actually enjoyed playing through it. I may have to start it up again soon.
  2. Man am I terrible at this game! Thumbing cramping from moving and all the button mashing and I can barely break 50,000! :-p
  3. I love Towers II, but that's just becuse I like that kind of RPG. Looks and feels a bit like Daggerfall to me (without the size/scope). The controls do take a little bit getting used to so a little patience is required, but if you can get the controls down and dont mind the 'exploring' nature of the game (rather than constant fast action), then there's some fun to be had with it.
  4. I have one of these and it works well for the games that support the iCade controller.
  5. Manged 50,000,000 and the extra ball on the 1st ball but couldnt do much else afterwards; missed out on captalizing on the Tower Hunt 3rd ball. Ended with only 79,344,790.
  6. It sure has. Like everything else, only patience and luck finally paid off for me: was able to get it CIB (with shipping) for $36 which was about the best I had ever seen it.
  7. Because I got the extra ball on the last ball through the match, I couldnt screenshot my score until after it was plunged up into play because the marquee said 'Shoot again player one' or something to that affect and wouldn't display the score until the ball was in play. The attached screenshot shows my score just as the ball entered the top of the playfield after plunging it up with the 'K' being the lit letter for the Skill shot. Score: 69,438,100
  8. The Jag, O2, RCA Studio II, Microvision and Fairchild are the only systems where I try to aim for CIB (NIB not necessary) when getting games (though for the Jag I recently settled for an almost CIB of Castle Wolfenstein - if anyone has an extra overlay they are willing to part with I'd be interested). For INTV games I'm interested in, I've tended to lean towards Cart+Manual+Overlay (no box neccessary). Other systems I'll get any kind of copy if I am interested in the game. I don't purchase with the intent to keep them sealed though there are some Jag games on my shelf I haven't gotten around to trying out yet that are still sealed. If sealed, I do use a knife to just slit the plastic and open carefully. It is an interesting experience to open up a sealed copy of a game you know was made 15-20 years ago and looking through the new still crisp, unbroken binding manual.

  10. Thanks for the feedback! If anyone who happens to read this happens to have a CIB Atari Karts (sub $90) they wish to part with, please let me know. :-)
  11. I did the upgrade (thanks Ken for the quick turn around!) and all I can say is that this thing rocks!
  12. What is a reasonable price for a CIB copy of Atari Karts? Is it really the $150+ that I typically see on eBay? Thanks
  13. Where in Maine do you live? As a fellow Maine classic gamer, I know how hard it is to be a collector here. If you live in the Portland area, check out Electric Buddhas in downtown Portland. I've picked up 5200 and 7800 carts there in the past as well as a nice lot of Intellivision manual/cart/overlays and there are usually a few 2600 systems available and not too long ago there was a decent selection of loose 2600 carts. It's a pretty cool retro store; I try to check it out pretty regularly as you never know what may show up there.
  14. And in case anyone was wondering, the intv files (rom files) from the disk will work in MESS on WIndows 8.
  15. Am I the only one who, when first seeing this thread, thought that it meant to design a Monopoly game around an Atari Theme (e.g. instead of having 4 Railroad spaces, you could have the 4 Swordquest games, etc). Has this ever been done?
  16. Thanks! Turns out to have been a pretty big win. While she does like Mario and Luigi and has also started getting into Zelda (Wind Waker HD), her favorite by far is Rayman Legends. Guess where she got her Rayman love from - the JAG :-) !
  17. Thanks for the contact info. Email sent.
  18. I really like the O2 - Turtles and Killer Bees are a couple of the better games.
  19. I have had my Jag and JagCD - original from release dates and they work fine; even after several cross country moves.
  20. I've been on the hunt for a CIB copy for a while myself and I agree, the eBay prices seem a bit high, especially for CIB copies.
  21. The few of things I have encountered are: 1) Joysticks (like other conosles) can go south and they are a pain to take apart and put back together. However (thankfully) they are only semi-hard-wired to the console; if one is willing to take the console cover/bottom off, it is possible to disconnect them from the board and put new ones on. I had to do this when I reached the point of frustration of trying to fix one of the joysticks and fortunately ended up with extra controllers from a second console that had problem #2 2) The keys/contacts on the console (at least the ones I have had) can wear out and/or springs go. On one unit I had, I took the console apart down to a level where I was hoping to be able able to clean something between the button and the board but reached a point where I couldn't quite get there because it would have required de-soldering. 3) Internal speaker can (apparently because I have this issue) become disconnect or 'loosely-connected'. When mine has no sound I typically have to pick it up, shift it around a bit and then the sound will come back. I havent yet gone to looking at the connection to see if it is an easy fix.
  22. I use one of these: Samsung TXM2796HF With the following all connected through a combination of rca/composite cables and 4, 3-way coax switch boxes: Rca studio ii Stunt cycle Sears branded Video Pinball Intellivision Bally Astrocade Fairchild Channel F Atari 5200 Atari 7800 (no room for an actual 2600 console, so the 7800 is currently pulling double duty) Atari Jaguar (w/Catbox) Atari 800XL Magnavox Odyssey2 Nintendo Game Cube Sega Genesis YurkieVision (Colecovision with Yurkie's awesome mods)
  23. Saw this at a Family Dollar in Portland,ME yesterday. Almost grabbed it but decided to pass for now. Glad I did because 10 minutes later I found a nearly CIB very clean CX2600A (no power cord, but I have plenty of them) with paddles, joystick and star raiders pad at Goodwill for 24.99.
