  1. I still think "Super Nintendo" is one of the dumbest names for a console. In Japan the NES was called the "Famicom". So, when the "Super Famicom" came out it made sense in my mind. Nintendo Super Famicom sounds pretty good. But here in the US. the prior console was the Nintendo Entertainment System (or NES). So we got the Super NES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System)...or what is known as the "Super Nintendo"...but it just sounds dumber than Super Famicom to me...dunno why.

      Actually Nintendo had a keyboard add-on too, see the Family BASIC. It only supports cassette though, not possible to combine with the later Famicom Disk System (which to most part was read only anyway). The Family BASIC is pretty good and shows that if Nintendo had wanted to, they could've produced a home computer in 1983/84 that was on par with the existing selection.

      LOL. And they later followed up with a console design so incredible boring they made an even worse name; GameCube. A square box with an unsightly handle.
