  1. Dumb question... is it Atari or Sears?

It is the Atari model. Circa '77-'78. The first Atari VCS :)

And are you sure its a heavy? You didn't post any pics, and you can't go just by Sunnyvale.

Yeah, I'm sure. It was sold anyway. I completely forgot about this thread and should have labeled it as such. Sorry!

  2. Free bumb for a Nice Collection...If you had Midnight Mutants and a couple others I'd be all over it.

But you will most likely have to throw in some cash to get a BS for trade.

Yeah, I figured that. Oh well, figured maybe someone out there just didn;t care for their Battlesphere (or got gold afterward) and would like to do a swap. Anyway, I threw out the $175, but will negotiate.

  3. Well, I am both a collector AND a gamer...so I think there should be at least an option to get the games with a box and as a real-looking Lynx-cart. Maybe it would be posible to offer that for 5 Dollars more or so.... I´m sure label/box-design contests like done for the Artari-2600-homebrews would result in some really cool looking new Lynx-games.

Getting only a green PCB with a sticker on it is a bit disappointing for a 40 Dollar-game, so I would think that over.

I am no expert, but I am assuming these green PCB versions (I have seen them, with the big chip and sticker on that) are bootlegs. The true Telegames releases as far as I have seen do NOT look like this. Their releases do not look like the standard Lynx card, but they have an equally appealing appearance...unlike these green pcb versions. When it comes to the case, well, I have to agree there. It is just a standard clear CD case with a cheaply printed insert and an instruction manual printed on paper and folded up. Still, I think the look of the card is very nice, and it feels like it has some weight to it. It simply looks awesome I think.

But, it is always all about the game. And that is great too!

  4. Well with stuff like raiden, I've always wanted one but want a production sticker and a nice game. Not a PCB with a chip and a bit of tape with marker on it like you see on eBay from Europe.

    AX

Well, my Raiden is nothing like that. It has a professional sticker with the actual "Raiden" logo as well as the usual "Lynx" logo you see on all cards. It is unlike any other I have seen. If you can imagine the "white sticker" Raiden card (with that long oval hole on the top)...well, mine looks like that, but instead of a white sticker it has a professional label. It is the nicest looking card in my collection now :)

  5. Hi guys,

Yeah, i've noticed that as well. $20 bucks for Pac-man for the 2600. That's highway robbery!!

    Anthony....

Yes, it is. But the saddest part of it all is that there will be that person that had the 2600 back in the day (and this game) and really know nothing about the value of things. This person will think it is a good deal and buy it. It doesn't happen too often, but it does happen. And that is what these cheesy resellers are betting on.

  6. Reconditioned? Yeah, ok.

I purchased this unit on ebay and it is far from being "reconditioned". While it immediately did not look like it was in bad shape, the system's RF is screwed. It is very buggy. And no, it is not "me" trying to hook it up and getting it wrong. I own another (REALLY reconditioned) unit that is flawless and displays absolutely perfect....I purchased this as a spare. I also did notice that the inside of the system (just peering in to the cart and expansion slots) is extremely dirty. Very hard to believe someone reconditioned this and left it like that! I have to wonder if this is the same Colecovision you are speaking about....although the auction picture was the same, as well as the description stating it had been reconditioned. That said, you have an ebay PM my friend!

Also noteworthy to mention that the other peripherals were disgusting as well. I spent the better half of my Christmas cleaning and restoring the Roller Controller, which had everything from grime to hair...to I don't even want to know what inside!

  7. I also have to chime in regarding Songbird and Carl. Fantastic place to buy from, and Carl is equally a great guy. I purchased "Raiden" (last one!) from Songbird and received it yesterday. It has the same "Long Live The Lynx" on the back of it. Got me all warm and fuzzy feeling inside! :)

  8. Welcome back buddy! WOOHOO!! JAGUAR RULES!! I remember the day i bought my Jaguar from Toys R US. I too really enjoy Cybermorph,it was a great pack-in game.

P.S. The Speedster II proto that you mentioned, was that an actual proto or the complete game? There 3 different versions either (Wal-Mart,K-Mart or Carousel)....

It was a game for a kiddie ride that you would stick in front of a Walmart, K-Mart and the like. A really straight forward, drive straight and avoid cows and birds, and end at a Walmart (or K-Mart..etc selectable in the options). So, it was the complete title with the option ability to change to the establishment destination of your liking. Yes, the Jag had another usage...for kiddie rides!

  9. I recently acquired a Jag after selling off mine in 2002 I believe. I used to own quite a few goodies for the system, and really didn't think I would ever get it again. I am the person who purchased that Speedster II proto off ebay in 2001 (sold it to AA) and I also purchased Battlesphere around that time as well. While it is upsetting not to have these rarities anymore, I have come to the conclusion that I really LIKE the Jaguar. This system has many memories attached to it for me.

I originally purchased the machine on launch (test launch) in NYC. I live in NJ and was 18 or 19 at the time as I recall (I'm 33 now), and remember driving to the city with such anticipation to grab this machine. I was so excited that I brought a friend along with me so that HE could drive back while I admired the box! Man, it was a happy day for me...one I will never forget.

Am I the only person that actually enjoys Cybermorph? I read so many poor reviews, but I actually got into this game. I played it again after these few years today and cleared a few planets. A simple game yes, but not bad. That green face reminds me of an ex girlfriend who used to drink too much....although she has a much better accent than my ex did.

Anyway, I just wanted to chime in and bring some love to the Jaguar before the holiday. Merry Christmas everyone!

  10. Yeah, I am now using it on the 2600 only. It works fine with the one button stick. It's funny, because if I never tried it on the 7800 I would have never known. This was a brand new (new old stock) Genesis cable. I purchased two of these boxed, and both appear to look the same...although of course I can't see internally :) At least one of these works fine on the 7800. I like to sit a little further away than the stock cables allow.

  11. It sounds like one of the pins is not wired.

    Mitch

I think sega droped pin 5 on some of there later cords. They also switched to that crappy threaded copper wire also instead of solid copper which was really cheap of them to do as that stuff breaks SOOOO easy.

This has to be the reason. The other cord works fine, so confirmed. Thanks for the replies. That cord went straight in the trash :)

  12. Here's something odd:

I finally scored a 7800 from a nice forum member and have been playing around with it today. I have Commando (really love this game) and Mario Bros so far. I also have a few Sega Genesis (actual Sega made) joystick extension cables that I use with various systems (Colecovision, Atari 2600, XE, and so on) Well, they do work on the 7800, somewhat. I plugged one in the joystick 1 and played a few rounds of Mario Bros just fine. Popped in Commando on the otehr hand, and the left button (button to fire and to start the game) does not function. I unplugged the extension cable and plugged the joystick in directly...and it works just fine. Why is this? This is the *first* time I have ever had any type of issue using extension cables on a system. I mean, they work on the Colecovision and its two buttons/keypad. Very odd. Can someone else confirm that you cannot use extension cables with games that require two buttons?

  13. I have been trying to score a copy as a gift for my brother, who pretty much does everything for me. He is a huge Space Invaders fan, and I would love to grab a copy for him. I already missed one by a few minutes in the marketplace, ugh. If anyone has one of these that they would feel like parting with, please PM me. I would greatly prefer the game to be complete. Thanks!

    EDIT: FOUND! Thanks!
