  1. About a year or so ago a friend of mine who was moving and owed me some money asked if he could pay up by instead giving me his massive custom arcade stick. I agreed...but I have no room for this thing at all. It is huge. I would have to take measurements, but it has to be around 4FT or so long. Four players and trackball. All of the buttons and joysticks (and trackball) are extremely high quality. I know very little about arcade controls, but they feel like the arcade to me. The inside has a million wires and some boards. Plugs coming out are two USB and a PS2. I am assuming the PS2 is for the trackball and one of the USB's for the trackball buttons. I tested this briefly with a Raspberry Pi using just the one USB and the joysticks worked fine. He really knew his stuff so I suspect it all works as it should. But it is heavy (not too bad however, I can carry it myself no problem) but most importantly the size of this thing really restricts me from mailing it. So, local pickup (in Northern NJ...I am around 15 minutes from the Digital Press store if you are familiar with the place). I am looking for $200 for it, cash and carry. I apologize for the garbage picture. I will get better pictures of this thing (inside and out) shortly. I just figured I would get this out there now as it has been on the backburner for a while now. EDIT: Better pictures added. It is using an Ultimarc I-Pac 4 and it appears these are all Happ controls. I figured as much. These control sets run around $60 each (joystick and buttons), the trakball runs around $40-$50, the Ultimarc is $65. Time and labor to make it (as well as parts) I expect it ran in the neighbourhood of $600-$700 to build this thing if I were to give an estimate.
  2. I didn't note the rev board, sorry. Its all hooked up and in the cabinet now....but one day I will get to it and let you know!
  3. Purchased some items from me and everything was as smooth as butter. Great person to deal with!
  4. I agree the Xbox emulators were (and are) fantastic. There are a bunch of them on the drive in this one that I added many moons ago. Back in 2004 I was all about this machine. I had three of them I think. One Halo clear green version and two normal editions. It's been a long time. I sold two and gave one to my brother.....who never used it and left it in storage until handing it back to me a few days ago. But now it has scratches, the feet are missing and the CD tray does not work. My brother is not nearly as careful as I am when it comes to storing consoles/collectables....but in his defence at least the tray issue may not be his fault. Probably a aged/worn belt. I will look into that when I can. What is the max hard drive that can be installed in this? 2TB? Do those SATA to IDE adapters actually work with this? EDIT: I see the Startech version appears to work fine for people when using with a 80-pin conductor cable. I am putting this on hold for now. I'll upgrade it a bit first and see if I feel like selling it afterward
  5. I wonder how the cart will interface with the A8 however. I wonder if it will be an adapter that allows it to plug into the cart slot or an adapter that ends with an SIO plug. In any case, good deal for me. I already have the backbit so the adapter should be cheap. The Vic-20 adapter for example was $25. I think the idea is to get the Backbit to have broad compatibility. It already supports C64, C128, VIC-20, C16 (I believe). I am all for this becoming a swiss army knife of flash carts. Cool idea.
  6. Yeah. One day I may open this up, link a secondary hard drive to it and use Chimp and clone it to a new fresh drive. Then fix the DVD drive issue while I am in there. Just too many projects right now and I need the motivation to do it
  7. My interest in the Xbox is not so much that I intend to do much of anything to it right now. I might down the road if someone does not want it as is however
  8. Well, the same is true for the C64 side (SD2IEC, Ultimate II, pi1541, etc) and I thought that too until I tried the BackBit cartridge. It was just more intuitive to use. It's now my daily driver on that computer. I also use it on a VIC-20 as I mentioned previously, and I like how Evie designed that interface to basically mimic the C64 interface. I suspect the A8 implementation will be in the same. And if so I will definitely want to use this on an A8.
  9. The compatibility is actually quite high. I have played literally hundreds of .d64 disk images without issue. The loading is extremely fast though, so if you are nostalgic for the original 1541 slow load times this product is not for you
  10. I own two "BackBit" cartridges which are excellent flash cart devices originally intended for the C64/C128 computer line. Not too long ago an adapter was created for this to allow it to be used in VIC-20 computers as well. Hence why I have two The firmware is updated sometimes multiple times a week, so every couple of days I check, download, upgrade. Lots of features continue to be added to the BackBit. It is such an awesome device. So, tonight I checked the firmware updates and saw v3.0.0 was released. Upon checking the release notes I saw something rather interesting: "Preliminary Atari 8-Bit support (adapter coming soon)" Wow. Evie is really doing great things with this cartridge. I figured I would give everyone a heads up on this. Fantastic news! https://www.backbit.io/ https://www.backbit.io/downloads/Firmware/BackBit-C64/Revisions.txt
  11. That was not a non-TMSS model. You have to keep an eye out for the FCC ID. Many said "High Definition Graphics", and they printed those for at least two years after launch. But that is still no indication that they are non-TMSS versions. The FCC ID appears to be the only semi-accurate way of detecting them.
  12. So my brother dropped off an XBOX that I apparently modded from him in June of 2004. I installed XBMC and it has the ability to play "backups" from the hard drive. No backups are included mind you. But, the disc tray (or drive) is not functioning. Pressing eject causes the sounds that you would expect from the mechanism, but the tray does not move. So, this is console, a/v (composite cables), power cable and a controller is fair condition (later model, not the "duke"). The console shell is unbroken, but is not in pristine condition. It has scratches, missing feet..etc. It does not look that bad to me, but a purist would not stand for the condition for sure. Anyway, I don't need it so I am inclined to sell it for a nominal price. It works and goes into XBMC and works from there...so hardware wise it is sound. Anyone want to make an offer I am all ears. Remember though that this is a fat heavy console and shipping will play a factor. PM if you have any interest.
  13. I have an ample supply of 99% Isoprop (well nearly 32oz) so I hope I don't have to shop for any an extravagant prices for a while. One thing I will say is that if you have no Isoprop and need to clean contacts as an alternative you can use Ronsonol (or other brands maybe...I just trust that brand..but I would imagine Zippo would be fine as well) lighter fluid. It cleans well and is not damaging to plastics. It will clean off any sticker residue of course if you were not aware (on just about anything), but I have used it to clean contacts as well and it works very very well. Now just don't cause a run/shortage of this stuff please! And, mostly importantly, do not light a match until all is dry!
  14. I really wish people would stop doing that. But, I blame Nintendo. They knew what they were doing. Put that 2.1mm x 5.5mm barrel on the brick of death and see how many people fry the opposing consoles! Sadistic bastards.
  15. Just to follow up. I received this power supply today and it is hard to refute the claim that it is the best power supply ever made. It certainly feels that way The quality is superb. The cable is extremely thick. The power connector molding (part that plugs into the CV) is outstanding. As it turns out my original supply was failing. +12v readings the other day were 11.60V. Today it read at 9.88V. I should have replaced that long ago....especially considering the amount of time and money that I put into the console already. This power supply works beautifully. I do not suspect I will have another power issue using this at least in my lifetime. I will go on the record to say that I HIGHLY recommend this power supply. Even if your original brick is good. Excellent product.
  16. Could be just bad capacitors. All of these vintage handhelds (Lynx, Nomad, Game Gear) seem to all need cap replacements at this point.
  17. Seems like I have a lot of Genesisis (Genesie? Genesee?) consoles lately. I don't need them all. So, wanted to see what the interest was in these. First is the pretty rare MK-1451 Genesis model 2 by Majesco. This is the sought after 3/4 sized board model (VA4 board). The console is in really excellent condition. Almost looks new...and works fine. The other is a Genesis 3 that I obtained just to see if I could get SMS game support enabled (using a flash cart with SMS roms) and I was able to accomplish that. It is not 100% compatible however. About 90% of SMS roms work on it (using an Everdrive or equivalent) but some games either glitch or do not work at all (R-Type, Alien Syndrome and Wonderboy III come to mind). I am not sure why that is. There must have been some change in the processor hardware. But, this system natively never played ANY master system games at all, so it is pretty amazing that it now not only plays almost the whole library of Genesis titles but can also play almost the whole library of SMS titles as well. Neat little system. I would not be asking for a fortune for these. Maybe $50 for the Majesco Genesis 2 and $40 for the Genesis 3....minus the shipping. Both would come with power supplies, and if I have AV cables for both I will provide those too...although I may only have one AV cable at hand. I will have to check. In any case, if interested PM me.
  18. I do have a bunch of AV switches, as well as a AV receiver with a bunch more AV inputs. And I am using all of them That doesn't change the fact that I have very little floor space though. In any case, for what I DO have, I have made it work quite well. One rule of thumb though that I personally have is that I never put a console on the floor. You have to get some more tables dude!
  19. I am marking Clean Sweep, Hyperchase and the Metroid Pinball DS games on hold for the moment as someone has PM'ed expressing interest. That said, no prices are set in stone and I will sell any combination of games that you want. Offers welcome!
  20. Hey, I completely understand having a lack of space...but I also make due with a very VERY tight area. I am a closet gamer...literally. Everything I have is connected and set up inside of a gutted closet. Not the best scenario and it is a real pain when I need to swap a cable (a real project!) but again...I make it work like you are with your setup. I should post pics of mine soon.
  21. I can agree with that. My model is currently connected composite to a Sony Wega and if I didn't say anything you would think it WAS connected via RGB
  22. That's interesting. I have the "Enjoy!!!" BIOS model. Interesting tidbit is that they all have the snail maze game, even the hang on/safari hunt model. Just hold UP and 1+2 as you turn the power on the machine
  23. If I were a gambling man I would say that both of those consoles work. I purchased many "untested" SMS consoles on ebay over the years and never encounted one that did not. Maybe just luck. But, even if it is "bad", the shells on those are in excellent shape. You can then purchase a really nasty (but working) SMS and swap the motherboards
  24. Or this one (probably an even better bet): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Sega-Master-System-Power-Base-Console-Only-Untested-As-Is/303782613362?epid=1441793369&hash=item46badad172:g:HRgAAOSw2V5fvc5R
  25. If I needed one I would take a chance on this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/SEGA-MASTER-SYSTEM-3010-CONSOLE-ONLY-UNTESTED-FOR-PARTS-OR-REPAIR/224248532329?hash=item3436410d69:g:T3MAAOSwlIxfvZ-o In my experience they usually work. And, if they do not it is typically a solder break in the barrel connector or the voltage regulator was blown out due to someone using a NES power supply on it. Both issues are easily fixed.
