OOPS!
No, you were right, it was on slow. Apparently my daughter was playing a game(one of her favorite carts) before me and I didn't reset it to default.
We'll keep it on an even keel for the HSC.

I discovered this game in a little arcade called "Shazamm" at the mall in Jupiter, FL back around 1983. I was in 3rd grade at the time and this machine managed to devour quite a bit of lunch money. I've been a pretty big fan ever since. The only console version I've ever played is the CV one which is a top notch piece of programming IMO. I consider myself lucky to have the original cart, as it's nearly impossible to find. A sealed Intellivision version recently sold for $307.99 on ebay! We're any of you fans the lucky winner? These other versions mentioned might be fun to eventually track down and compare, but having the original Arcade machine in the den is where it's at... And it looks like SoCal Mike beat me to it!!
A token from that long-gone arcade still survives in my collection, pictured next to another prized possession:

The Klingons seem to have a further range than the Enterprise. They can get cheap shot in before they are visible on the targeting computer. Once I figure out how to get a step ahead I'll last longer, but movement is slow and the Warp drive burns up fast. Still, the challenge of trying to out-manoeuver those @#$*! Klingons makes it fun and keeps it interesting.

This is one of my favorites
The programmers did a lot of work on this game. We're fortunate that it finally made it out the door after spending two years in limbo. The Zelda style swordplay with 'slashing' sound seems unique to the Library, making this title really stand out.My starting score:

I seem to be limited by the controls in this game. When things get clipping along in sector 6 and up there isn't any time for a delay in controller response. My CompetitionPro stick is way slow to respond in a tight spot. I thought it might be best since its digital, but its the Worst. The stock stick is a little better but gets cumbersome when things speed up. My best Wico stick will get me the furthest along with the most sensitive response, but gets pretty jittery by sector 9. No better with Masterplay options either.
I'm curious as to what controller setups some of you ACES are using to get 30,000+ points in this game?!!
Aside from the intense concentration and reflexes needed to advance that far, there's gotta be a better setup than mine :!:
Thanks All for any tips (for future ref.)

Stage 5 is pretty tough with a keyboard. The curvature of the track really adds a challenge as it forces you into a seal or crevass almost the whole time. A joystick is badly needed for the tricky timing. The cart is due in the mail soon, for next time:
