  1. I can't believe that this hasn't been studied before. Check out the link: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor..._addiction_dc_5
  2. Well, I can't believe that someone hasn't done this study before. Check out the link: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor..._addiction_dc_5
  3. I just posted this reply to my own thread in a feeble attempt to keep my questions near the top before they get booted off this page. Pathetic, I know, but I have to try at least once.
  4. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any sites out there that have game lists for the PS2, Game Cube, and X Box? I have found a few via search engines, but they are usually pretty out of date. Also, I have a PS2 and a friend of mine is selling me his Game Cube, extra joystick, memory card, and three games for $60.00, so I now need to know if there is a site that compares graphics, gameplay, etc. for the same titles on different systems. Case in point: I have Dave Mirra 2 for my PS2 and love it, but I just found out last week that the other two systems' versions have two extra levels! Thanks in advance.
  5. I think that saying the PS2 sucks is misleading a lot of people away from purchasing a really good system. I know of two people who have had major trouble with their Xboxes, and to me, the controllers that come with the Xbox are horrible. The controllers are too bulky. But to each his own, right? I could also point out that I have never had a single problem with my PS1 or PS2, in fact my PS2 has yet not to play any of my DVD movies or whatever. I acknowledge that the Xbox has some good games on it, just like the Gamecube and PS2. The point that I am trying to make is for some of you guys to be a bit more objective when you completely slam a good system and scare people away who otherwise would have made a decision to buy a PS2 or whatever. One more thing to remember is that a system is only as good as its games, and all three systems have some exclusive games that are superb. Class dismissed.
  6. I too am glad that everything worked out for you. If you do come up with a one player version, that would be cool.
  7. I just saw the post too. Man, that was quite a challenge for the winner. Good job.
  8. Hi all, I plan on getting a next gen machine soon (hopefully for Christmas.) Has anyone heard any news about Nitrocity? From what I have read so far on the game, it sounds excellent. It basically is a "Fast and Furious" type racing game, differing from some other racing games in the cars that you have to choose from and the illegal street racing. I enjoy real life street racing and strip racing (I have a 93 Trans Am), so these type of games always interest me. By the way, what other games like this are out there? I read a review of Midnight Racing and it sounds good, and of course GT3 should be pretty good, (I have GT2) on my PS1. Thanks in advance for your help.
  9. I buy games when the prices on them come down to more reasonable levels. So as much as I love the Resident Evil series of games or the newest Bond game, I patiently wait a month or two and pick them up for at least ten bucks less. I think $30.00 is reasonable, not $50.00.
  10. I saw this article on Yahoo today and figured that some of you might find it interesting. http://news.yahoo.com/fc?tmpl=fc&cid=34&in...rade_regulation
  11. No doubt all of the companies that make the systems have engaged in less than honorable actions. I can say that my PS1 has never given me problems, and I have had it for years. But then again, my good old 2600 from my youth has never given me problems either. The only thing that this thread has done is confirmed that I will definitely get all three systems sooner or later. I hope that the prices do drop in the near future on them. That would be sweet.
  12. Thanks for the offer Macgurl; if Ebay doesn't come through for me, I will certainly take you up on your offer. As far as the Gamecube goes, I will probably get one on the credit of the new Metroid and Zelda titles. Thanks again.
  13. Sorry to post this under this thread, but I see a lot of people supporting the DC. I tried to buy one when they were marked down but never could get my hands on one. You guys have me tempted to go on Epay and bid on one. I always wanted to play House of the Dead; it looked very interesting.
  14. Someone stated earlier in the post that the bad press given to the Xbox initially was internet driven. Well, I know for a fact that several newspapers had fairly decent articles talking about the bad hardware and customer service Xbox early buyers were receiving. So I wouldn't say that it was a bunch of internet rumors. Now, that is not to say that Microsoft hasn't cured these problems, but they were real problems at one time. I have no clue as to the current status of the system now or Gates' customer service people, but that whole scene sort of stuck with me. I will go on to say that I will probably own all three of the systems sometime in the future. Why? I love video games and some exclusive titles, like many people have stated, are worth the price of admission (buying the console.)
  15. I have for the past year been waiting for the prices to drop on the newer consoles (which they finally did) before I purchased one. I still don't have a PS2, Gamecube, or Xbox, but I have decided to go with the PS2 as my first newer gaming console. Yes, I plan on eventually owning the other two as well, when the prices drop even more, but for now the PS2 makes the most sense for me. There are a few reasons that I make such a statement. 1) I currently own a PS1 and have over sixty titles for it. Backward compatiability is nice, even though it really doesn't matter since I plan on keeping my PS1 anyway. 2) The vast library of games out there for it. 3) More adult oriented titles--this point could be argued with some of the Xbox's newer titles, but most of those have a PS2 port as well. I still am a bit skeptical I guess of Microsoft as far as their game console goes. I remember the problems they experienced upon launch. Of course, every company sometimes has those types of problems, but Microsoft could have at least made their customer relations people on the phone act a bit nicer. I understand that the Xbox has better technology than the PS2, but the graphics I have seen thus far have not seemed any better. Whatever choice you make, I think that you will have loads of fun.
