  1. Best/worst part of game making is when you can finally play a build, you realize it needs something more, then the solution hits you and you have to rip out all the code you just wrote...

  2. First look at my new TI game Ruinsweeper now up at www.orphantech.com!  Hoping to finish the last section today.

Nice. I have a ti-99/4a with a cassette player to run programs.

      InfernalKeith

Awesome! This game will require disk and 32K expansion, but the next two on my to-do list are gonna be cassette games for the unexpanded system.

  3. Trying for a week to get back into coding mode and make progress on my game... feels like my brain is made of rubber cement.  Hoping to at least get a few game loop routines down tonight and get back in the zone.

  4. Been going to bed at 'normal' hours lately. Also hit a wall on my coding projects. Stayed up till 4am last night and got more done than I have in a month. That third shift life is where it's at.

  5. I may have bought another 2600 with 40+ games today JUST to get H.E.R.O.  WORTH IT!

Great to see people still programming in TI BASIC! My very first programming language.

      InfernalKeith

We can compile the code now, but I'm trying to make this game as old-school as possible (even gonna make some copies on cassette to release).

That's the way to go! Make it as authentic as possible.

  7. Had my gallbladder out today. I went under at 2:30 and was home by 7:30. Not everything about the future sucks. :)

That's great the surgery went well for you, and hopefully recovery isn't too uncomfortable. It must have been a (thankfully) low risk surgery if you got out of the hospital the same day. =)

That's why sugeries are nicer now...you go in, take a nap and you go home the same day fixed up.

Our ancestors spent thousands of years learning how to make houses, furnaces, video games and snacks. We owe it to their hard work to enjoy their efforts.

I couldn't sleep last night at 1am so I fired up the 2c and pulled the c64 out of the closet for the first time in a few years. It still works like a champ!

I also couldn't sleep last night so played Wall Defender on Atari. That game is murder on my wrists!

  12. TI 99/4A users - just uploaded a new puzle game, "Demolish," in the development forum

  13. Need $ for a plane ticket. Might put my TRS-80 Model I or Bally Astrocade up for sale. Tough call.

  14. There's no Del Taco within 70 miles of home. I passed one tonight on my drive, got too excited and ordered way too much. Can someone wake me in six months? :P

I'm a Bell fan but Del Taco's better on all fronts IMO. I only ever had Taco John's and Taco Casa one time each, didn't care for either of them, but it's been long enough that I'll probably revisit them next time I'm in a place where they are.

We used to have 7 Taco Johns here (But only 2 Taco Bells)...as they (Taco Johns) were born in Cheyenne (International Headquarters is here), but their main draw is the potato oles...And a cool Breakfast thing they do with potato oles, plus eggs, peppers, nacho cheese, shredded cheddar, tomatoes, onions, sour cream etc...Sometimes I think you will miss whatever your town does not have...We used to go to this cool taco place in Nebraska called Tres Amigos that had a salsa bar and served beer, b...

  15. What's a system you didn't know until it was retro? I have an Intellivision and an Atari 800XL, never used them as a kid, now they're mysterious and weird to me.

Never even heard of a Bally Astrocade until I joined up here. Still never seen one. I know if I do someday I'm gonna react like it's the flippin' Jade Falcon.

I had an Astrocade early on but never thought I'd find one as an adult. I hardly ever play it but I'd be sad if it wasn't there with the other soldiers.

The only thing I can think of is the Japanese equivalents of things, so I'm not sure if they count...Famicom, Super Famicom, Mega Drive and PC Engine...

  16. CDs, vinyl, floppy disks, cartridges, tapes, VHS movies, 9-pin sticks. Here to the real stuff you can put your hands on!

My Junior High computer lab in 1983-84 was filled with TRS-80's with the dual disk drives. Also had a Kaypro II. Awesome machines.

  22. I like how my mind works when I've been programming a lot. I'm just a hack in BASIC but it makes me smarter and sharper somehow. I gotta quit slacking on that.
