  4. Just weighed a couple packages to test -- I can send 5 cartridges via First Class mail for $9 postpaid in the USA. I'm gonna get rid of these common carts in multiples of 5, so if you need some, let me know. I have to pick up some flat rate Priority Mail boxes to see how much larger quantities will cost to ship. Black and light shells available for now.
  5. Bump. Carts still available, and 5-cart bulk lots clarified.
  6. Bump. Back from my trip. Metroid is sold, but Toki and Castlevania III are still available. Shipping paid in USA if you buy both.

  9. Probably not this year. My daughter has a surgery that's being scheduled soon, and it's likely to be right around that time. Every year events conspire - one of these times I'll actually make it AND have a finished game or two to show off. Hopefully it's not 2040 by then.
  10. If anyone still needs cartridge shells, I just unearthed a bunch of my old stuff and I have plenty of spares. I could round up at least 50 common black carts, and I might have that many white shells as well. $1 each plus shipping (or pickup if you're ever passing through the Toledo, Ohio area). Apologies to Lee, who emailed me months ago asking about them, I haven't been on the forums much in recent months.
  11. I've never owned a 7800 and would like to pick one up. Working is important, cosmetic condition not so much. Not worried about packaging, just wanna play games on it. If you have one, PM me, or let me know what I should expect to pay on Ebay for a working one. Thanks! Keith

  13. Much sadness mixed with gratitude and appreciation for the man's contributions and his kindnesses. Whether we were around "in the day" or are just now enjoying the TI 99/4A and other vintage machines, we're all standing on the shoulders of giants - many of them, like Jacques, known only to a few. Cheers for a life well led.
  14. Just bumping this because I finally got to work on it more over this weekend. I even managed to hit FCTN = in emulator and erase a bunch of unsaved code, just like in the old days!! (apparently I never learn any life lessons whatsoever...) I have the basic AI for the 'bomber' that drives across your terrain, looking for a path from your side to the enemy's. I've also reduced the amount of territory you control at the start. It's almost to the point of being playable by two players. Then the last challenge will be to create AI for each side of the board. (The "AI" to control the bomber that crosses the screen is much more limited, and independent of any game strategy). I feel a little silly pottering around in XB given some of the fantastic developments going on around here of late, but I'm enjoying the programming time regardless, and hopefully a good game will come of it.
  15. To my knowledge that stuff is all fairly common and has been scanned and archived. It was very cool of you to ask and volunteer to help - much appreciated! Are you just getting into the TI 99/4A?
  16. In the late 1980s I saw a whole room of these with PEB's, set up in the basement of some education center in Ohio where I was filling out paperwork for some kind of high school jobs training thing (the details are lost to my fuzzy memory now). I didn't get a chance to turn one on or do anything with them. I was startled to see TI gear with a different nameplate. Never seen one 'in the wild' outside of that.
  17. I just wanted to bump this thread to express my deep appreciation for all this innovation. Within a short time of your completing this amazing conversion, I can play it instantly in a Javascript emulator. If anyone had told me in 1984, 1994 or even 2004 that this kind thing would be happening in the 99/4A community, I'd have thought you were crazy. Thank you for a job well done, many times over.
  18. T.I. didn't do the song "99 Problems." That would almost be too weird. (It was Jay-Z.) He's also been around for years. If Texas Instruments was going to sue him, I imagine they'd have done it by now. The combination of characters that make up "TI 99/4A" are pretty unique and with a little imagination it shouldn't be hard to come up with a title for a blog or podcast that eliminates confusion. "Retro 99'er" or something like that would leave little room for doubt. Maybe "99/4ever" or "4/A Talk"?
  19. As long as we're talking theme songs, one of my favorites is the piece of classical music that accompanies the game "Cerberus." It's kinda classy but with enough weird, off key flourishes to really create an atmosphere. I don't think that game would be as fun without it. I'm a huge fan of mid-80s computer game music, it's one of my favorite things about the Commodore 64. Who knew back then that one day I could be programming in XB on an emulator, with another browser window open to a one-hour megamix of SID chip game themes....
  20. Not that the game itself is any great shakes, but does the weird, disjointed theme song for Chicken Coop make anyone else's head hurt? Is it just me?
  21. This is amazing! And it reacquainted me with Dragonflyer, which I had forgotten bout. That's a fantastic game. Great work!!
