    Weird ad

I didn't know about this GATO before I looked it up. Has the label artwork been spotted elsewhere? Interesting choice of animal because of course, gato is Spanish for cat.
  2. Looks like a great way to spend 11/11/11. Too far away for me though.

Allright, then we just need someone who has a laptop to get involved. Doesn't have to be in Sacramento. I'm sure there are other copies in libraries around the country*. *Possibly Canada too.

I can certainly try to take a better picture tomorrow, though my camera does has limits. A scanner would be better. Since the library does not allow periodicals to be removed we'll probably have to wait until someone finds a personal copy of the magazine to get a scan.

    Red Sea Crossing Ad

Yep. We wouldn't know the title if the ad had been found before the cartridge. I wonder what we'd be calling it? Unknown Moses Game?
  6. I've been hoping that Harmony/Melody would make it possible to support the trackball too. And please if someone remakes Centipede, include the music from .

    Red Sea Crossing Ad

Yeah, what's surprising is apparently none of our parents were either. But now someone might realize they or their family had the magazine and missed the opportunity. And credit where credit is due: nagn2 first found out that ads existed, and rolenta first mentioned they might be in religious magazines. BTW, I had always thought that Nathan's analysis was pretty convincing.

    Darn. I should have waited.
  9. Hey there, look what I found at the library today: Christianity Today. October 7, 1983. Page 51. Found at the Sacramento State University library. Incidentally I was really surprised to have found the ad so easily. I just decided to go to the library, thinking it would be a long shot. Christianity Today was literally the first publication I searched. It seems to be a fairly prominent magazine, so I'm surprised none of us knew about this game before 2007. I thought maybe there might be a small classified ad about the game, and I certainly did not expect a full page color ad given the game's obscurity. Now who's going to be the first to track down the coloring book and audio cassette?
  10. The boxed Air Raid sale (mentioned earlier in this thread) made news outside of the community. For example see CNN. (Albert was declared an expert.)
  11. How to turn invisible: It's actually pretty easy. 1) Wait until night. 2) Completely close the windows 3) Turn off all lights.

But by removing all light, you can be invisible even with clothes on.

  12. Can't say I'm interested in dolls, but I love it when someone pushes the envelope on social norms. I wonder if the guys who give you a hard time have ever been reprimanded themselves for being different.

I almost forgot: when you get a chance the screenshot at Atarimania could use an update.

    Rush Hour

Fine with me. Yeah, I don't know which is the latest one chronologically, but [a3] seems to be the most playable, and it's the one I modified IIRC.

OK. I took a look at your V6.0 collection. I have nothing new. The first three versions in the video match your 28-09-2002 files and are AFAIK original prototypes. The 28-08-2003 file is the published version. The 11-07-2003 and 17-07-2003 versions must be ones I worked on and emailed many years ago but did not keep. I'm glad it's taken care of.

    Rush Hour

Only the last one in the video contains my work. The other three have dates 14-04-2003, which is probably the day I downloaded the files from email. I'll look for the files you mention and compare to the ones I have.

Cool. I wasn't aware of that.

    Rush Hour

It it not widely known that the Rush Hour binary out in public is not an original prototype. I made some small modifications, cleaning up for the CGE 2003 release. There are three files that were given to me and I presume they are dumps of original chips. I'd rather see the binaries shared publicly, but it's not really my decision. The people who tracked down Rush Hour asked me not to share the files with anyone. Still, I feel I can show you a video without breaking the agreement, thereby shedding more light on the history of the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mypZBCzBA3k If anyone wants to try contact the CGE organizers to obtain permission for me to post the files, go for it.

  23. By the way, I'm willing to ship to Canada and Western Europe too. If you win the auction PM me and we'll work out the shipping cost. I'll change my listing to include international shipping if I can figure out how, but it appears eBay is restricting my listing to the USA.
  24. They did? Guess I got lucky then. My carts were tested three days ago and they work.
