Synthcart has been the top selling homebrew for a long time, above all the games. Made me wonder...
-
Me neither. I trust that includes "Happy Holidays".If someone were to offer me what I understood to be a holiday greetings, I would not be offended even if I did not celebrate that particular holiday myself.
You may be right, but I find it odd that many call the secular celebrations Christmas. On the other hand, I would suggest that at least in the U.S. Christmas is celebrated at least as much as a secular holiday as a religious one.
-
Not an Xmas cart, it has to be called a "Holiday Cart" or "Greetings Cart" right? PC sucks, I wish we could just all say Christmas and be happy with it
Peace and Love brothers, Peace and Love!!As much a certain members of the media like to frame "Happy Holidays" as an attack on Christians, some of us just want to find balance among the different faiths out there. What if the Hindus insisted that everyone say "Happy Makar Sankranthi"?
BTW, From what I've read, the word Christmas has a slightly different connotation in the U.S. than in the Commonwealth.

I couldn't find it in the AA Hacks base.
That's because it's not finished. If you play for a while, you'll notice it doesn't even come close to a challenge. It's fun to play for a while, but it's not ready to published.
BTW, the work is also available in some of Digital Eclipse's Atari 80 in One for PC and Atari Anthology for Xbox and PS2. I gave permission for it to be published provided it be described as a work in progress.
Atari has restricted what AA has been allowed to sell, but that was a couple years ago. I'm hoping for a change.

That'd be interesting, an eBook cart for a 30 year old system.

How much ROM space needed for Hamlet for example?
Indeed interesting. My first thought was porting Zork. You'd need one of the advanced bankswitching designs with major ROM and RAM (File that under "Yes it's possible, but is it worthwhile?")

If any of you don't know, I make MIDIs of tunes on the Atari 2600. Since I'm kind of running out of songs I know of, I need your help for songs I don't know that I can make MIDIs of. The list of ones I've already done are here:
http://midis.atari2600land.com
and I submitted all of these to vgmusic.com, which has only accepted a handful (go to the Atari 2600 section of http://www.vgmusic.com and the ones I've done say sequenced by Chris Read.)
Four-Play
. In addition to the Blue victory tune you did, there are Red win and draw jingles. Of course there is the title music too. -
I searched the forums for "Book Cart", and found a few references (including this thread), but didn't find any explanation of what this is.
-
...although doesn't it need to be finished first?

It needs permission from Atari Inc. to be published first.

Good idea. Here is something which I would buy but I don't know if it is possible to produce.
One Player Combat!
That is the only reason I don't play any of the Combat carts which I own, because of no one player mode.
A One Player Combat would be a Mega-Hit.

I think a great commemorative cart would be a single cart with the original game lineup. Select any of the games from a menu.

Combat
Star Ship
Air-Sea Battle
Blackjack
Indy 500
Surround
Street Racer
Basic Math
Video Olympics
Nice idea.
The 9 original games are all 2K, so they could easily fit in a regular bankswitched 32K cartridge with a menu. -
Well, Atari Inc. is talking about a new relationship with the community. Something could happen...
-
Excellent work Zach - there are very few 2600 games that have reasonable AI. I am looking forward to getting this on a cart soon, and to seeing your future games.
Chris
Thanks Chris. I believe FP is the first board game with AI since 1980.

I suspect you could easily buy the intellectual property rights to Atlantis for that price.

The behavior is copied from those other games and, yes, it is essentially to make it harder.

It that case, maybe consider adding inertia so that she can't stop right away. If we take off with the robot maid idea, she could take a long time to brake. The manager could be just as stingy on her maintainance too.
Sorry, but jiggling back and forth while waiting for an elevator to get out of the way feels more like a chore than a challenge.
-
What you've got so far looks nice, Bob. I look forward to watching this game develop.
Is it part of the gameplay design that the maid can't stop in the middle? You can practically stop by quickly moving back and forth, but it seems like unnecessary effort.

I'm sure it had something to do with the multitude of things to do this Fall, such as the VGEXPO, and preparation for the holiday cart. I figure it will make the front page sometime before holiday season.I'm kind of surprised that the Four-Play release didn't make the front page of AtariAge. Usually, new releases get mentioned there.

-
I think you'll like it.I just bought this game along with Adventure II. hope I like it. It looked really cool to me.

I had noticed that someone bought Adventure II and Four-Play. It's been fun watching the "also purchased" screen, and trying to deduce how many copies have been sold so far.
BTW, here are the binaries of the release. The NTSC version is very close to the beta version posted earlier, with some subtle bug fixes.
-
Only a couple of months.
I've also offered to help Matt, now that I have access to an EPROM reader. -
Let's be patient. It hasn't even been a year yet.So is this proto rom dump officially dead like the Pink Panther? It has been great to see these long lost games surface, but very disheartning to see them be sealed up again. Hopefully this one is an exception.
-
It's a fascinating story - a car accident preventing a race game from being released.
The same thing was said of Rush Hour too.

-
Nice idea, Al! It'd be fun to throw an original Space Invaders in the appropriate bundle, if you have enough to go around.

Four-Play is a classic board game that has finally made its way to the Atari 2600. Four-Play has easy to learn rules, but don't expect to become a master as easily! Red and Blue take turns dropping marbles into an upright board. The first player to align four marbles horizontally, vertically, or diagonally wins! Pit your wits against the computer A.I. at four difficulty levels, or play against a friend in two-player mode.Nice. Definitely better than the matter-of-fact description I would have written. Did you study to write like that, or are you a natural?
(psst... check the cartridge size.)

BTW, No complaints about the AtariAge store!

does anyone here on the board got all 2600 homebrews?
