  1. Hey, speaking of Duran Duran, I'm not the only one who as a child made Pitfall Harry , right?
  2. Don't forget homebrews. When I taught programming in high school the kids' favorite games were Medieval Mayhem and Man Goes Down.
  3. I admit I did not know the name Herb Alpert until a few months ago. I did however know Rise and had been wondering for years who played it. Couldn't exactly Google it when all I had to go on was a melody. What songs of his do you like the best? (Or if you prefer I'll look more into it for myself.)
  4. Thanks. There is a good chance that the hacks you described can be done. When the computer moves pieces it might simply be handled by a timer that is easy to adjust. If I understand Nackgammon correctly the only difference is the starting position? That is probably just a matter of changing a few numbers.
  5. I just read this today and LOL'ed.
  6. Nice Chetiry avatar, Nathan. You've often blogged about your artwork, so I'm looking forward to reading more about how you drew the cathedral.

  7. Yes, that was my experience. Of course you can copy instructions into the first 256 bytes, which may be useful since space in the 8th bank is scarce.
  8. I bet it wouldn't be too hard to adapt Stella to run on a cube in Java3D.

I knew the project would be in good hands, Chris. By the way, is this version of the AtariAge logo new? The two-colored 48 pixel sprite is a nice trick.
  10. Great job, Babz! (not me) I haven't been involved in this project lately. I believe this latest version is pretty much Chris' work, with help from Fred and Nathan. I only take credit for the multi-color kernel. As I understand it, Chris learned how my kernel works and started over from scratch. UPDATE: Chris has explained his part in the project in his blog.
  11. It's pretty much a collection of Knight's Tour puzzles. EDIT: Oh yeah, some of it may be less than intuitive. Position the knight to any starting square of your choice then press fire to begin the tour. All puzzles can be solved from any starting square. Once the tour begins just move to the next square. You can undo a move by pressing fire.
  12. Did anyone find the Easter eggs yet? The manual reveals that there is a hidden game, but not how to unlock it. I decided it's time.
  13. That's cool. I've never seen Air Raid photographed next to an ordinary cartridge. I didn't know it was longer. (I know, I know, That's what she said.)
  14. Wonder007, what is your top recommended book on financial success? Thanks.
  15. Yahoo! is estimating $18,000. http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/plugged-in/gotta-collect-em-all-the-ten-rarest-video-games/1396084
  16. It is worth the 1,000 they want it has the rare 'cubert' Never heard of Spirit Master either. Sounds like a cool game.
  17. Does anyone else wonder if they have some obscure collectible item in their attics worth over $10,000?
  18. Yay! Congratulations on your find, Tanman. It's like a modest lottery win. And it's great for the community to finally find out that a box exists, and the the game really is called Air Raid. :) :)
  19. It's an April Fool's "joke", unless the OP explicitly states otherwise.
  20. The controls are much better over the previous versions. I prefer a faster drop with the joystick down, but that's just me. It's too bad about the shapes blinking as they fall. I suspect it's difficult to fix without a little assembly intervention. (I wouldn't mind being wrong.) How much assembly have you studied, atari2600land?

Wow. I've been away from the forums for a while, and didn't realize you had come so far with your version of this game. Even though we are both working on basically the same game, mine will never have a two-player mode like yours. Keep it up! Can you tweak the controls so that you can turn continuously by holding the button?
  22. Nice job, JeffVav. Have you ever made a perfect score in Pitfall II?
