By the way, Tempest, were you able do extract enough data to rule out the possibility of a mislabeled cartridge? As NovaXpress pointed out, it has been known to happen.

This is how I spent my free time in Jan 2003. I've got a 719x1095 version ready to print when the bank switching work is done.

Unfortunatley I'll be missing CGE this year. It's a busy month at work. Should anyone happen to go to Santa Cruz, and visit the Boardwalk, could you please report on whether they still have a Dragon's Lair 2 machine at the arcade? It was there in the late 90's at least.

This would be perfect to go with my Snow White cart! Oh wait, I don't have one. Guess I won't bid.

I don't dispute that LOTR is less than thrilling, but it would still be a nice cart to have. The map is one of the best pieces of graphics in a Stella game. Besides: That's how it was in the book too. (And unlike the movie, Frodo didn't get any help from Arwen.)
-
I figured there would be tons of demand for LOTR. I'll definitely buy a cart when it becomes available, and I've been saving a label-less Frogger cart for just such an occasion.

A little off-topic (or off-forum), but how well does the trackball work with the 7800 version of Centipede? Is there room for improvement?
-
Thanks Dennis! Your code did the trick. I'll do my homework to understand the BRK interrupt more, since it never came up in Combat. By the way, I've been having fun with my recently acquired Climber 5.

When I was hacking Combat, I expanded it to 4K simply by adding the following lines at the end: ORG $FFFC .word $f000 .word $0000 Unfortunately, it isn't working for Breakout. I can produce a 4K file, but Z26 displays it as garbage. I also tried replacing $f000 and $0000 with the last four bytes of the original Breakout, without success. Any idea what's going on?

Will the AtariAge store be selling the paddle?

It's unfortunately true. I no longer have the time I once had for Atari programming. Life has changed quite a bit since I finished school. At least we have a demo that shows that one player Combat is possible. The problem of getting the tank to navigate obstacles has been solved. Now it just needs some improvements to make the game challenging, and I have some ideas how that can be done. I am open to the idea of someone else taking over Tank AI. If anyone is seriously interested in continuing the project, I'll explain how the demo works. I'd say that "never" is too strong a word. Look at how many years passed between updates to INV.

We ought to lobby Mike to release the Kickman binary. I've seen it, and while it's clearly not a finished game, it's fun to play.

To the Canadian AA members, Tell us your sob stories for $39

This is a sob story? -
My hypothesis: this story was concocted to make a point about being nice to newbies.

Just wanted to say I had a good time. It was nice to meet Rick Weis, Lee Krueger, and Jarret (aka PackratVG). I picked up a bunch of not-so-rare carts along with Skeleton+ and NWCGE Invaders. Sorry I missed you, angusjake, (and sorry I didn't meet the lady in your avatar.)

Nevermind. I found the schedule:
-
Will Joe Decuir be there Saturday, Sunday, or both?
-
Thanks for the praise, guys. If you've been here at AtariAge for a while, you'll know that it often takes years between a project's announcement and it's release. Just a little patience...
-
Looks great, Al. Definitely worth the wait.
-
Looks like I missed my chance to pre-register, but don't worry Rick. I still intend to come. Is anyone interested in sharing a ride from Vancouver, BC? I don't have a car, but I can buy you a tank of gas. Zach

Which one is which, Manuel? You could very well own the world's most valuable copy of Pac-Man now.
-
I'm flattered that any discussion of Combat leads to a mention of Tank AI. For the rom image, check the In Development section. http://www.atariage.com/development_page.h...evelopmentID=62. And yes, it's a preliminary demo. Thanks for the endorsement, Rob. Did you get it running on your Cuttle Cart 2?
-
I was so distraught by the use of flickering in the Holiday Greeting Cart that I threw out my copy. (see "Australian humor" under another recent thread) Seriously, the Chronocolour Technology as well as Paul's RPG demo convinced me beyond any doubt that flickering brings worthwhile results.

You don't have to be so modest, Gateway. Globetrotter is pretty big.

Does anyone have a link to the IGN article? By the way, I just noticed that Jakk's Pacific has added Midway and Capcom to their list of upcoming games: jakkstvgames.com
