I plan to make digital purchases of homebrews available, but can't do that until I get the store moved to new software.  I'll be doing that next year.  I've wanted to move the store to a new platform for a while, and as with the forum upgrade this year, upgrading the store is going to be a huge project for me.  But should be very worthwhile in the end.  :)

Hey Al,  any update on digital purchases?

I think I can make an exception for established AA members. Shipping would be more though. I will have to weight again but I think they are over 8 ounces. I think shipping is going to be like $22 extra. but you could likely buy more than one for that same shipping cost, I believe it cost the same for 9 ounces to 2lbs.

That'd be nice of you. Unfortunately, the postage is pretty high. If you do make more and have them next pay day (beginning of March), I'd be happy to take one (or two if my partner doesn't kill me!). :)

  3. I'd read that book! I recently picked up Mark Bussler's (of Classic Game Room fame) Pac-Man book. It's a fun little read.

I keep an eye on your blog but I figured it was just a legacy thing as it hasn't been updated in a while (I'm not judging!).

I've always found Pac-Man and its impact on popular and gaming culture to be fascinating. I work with kids 5-12 and most of them know of Pac-Man even though they've never played any of the games. That's some impact!

I'll keep an ear to the ground in case you do decide to go for it. If you don't, well, at least I'll still have the PFP. :)

  4. Sorry for the double post but I just had a thought.

Firstly, apologies if this suggestion causes you consternation or irritation. :)

I was thinking about your upcoming Pac-Man extravaganza and then your impending 7800 homebrew hiatus. Have you ever thought about doing a fully fledged Pac-Man podcast (a Pac-Cast, if you will :P)?

You and Inky seem to have a love for the wee yella fella and I feel like there is a ton of potential content if one takes into consideration things like merch, musicm the cartoons, spin off games, hacks, the whole Midway/GCC thang and, lately, hot gossip in the world of high scores.

I would love to listen to something like that but I don't have the know-how or confidence to create my own.

Just putting it out there. :)

  5. Yeah, there are a LOT of games for the Little Machine That Could. :)

I had to stop collecting as I have a spending problem and can't reign myself in but when I was collecting I would always sent smaller goals to achieve. For instance, rather than going for the nigh impossible complete VCS collection you could maybe go for a complete Activision set or 20th Century Fox set. Or, as CDS alluded to, go for a collection of games that your mum had or games she wanted when young...

    PS: Welcome aboard. :)

  6. Yeah, the torrent size is now over 62 gig for some reason (I'm not sure what's changed).

I've seen one seed pop up in my torrent client. I'm guessing that's you, then. Thanks for sharing.

If I ever get the whole think dl'd (it's going to take quite sometime!) I'll seed indefinitely. That'll make two of us. :P

  7. Wow! Well, it looks like my pension's taken care of, then! :P

Seriously, though, I have no intention of selling mine. Both my Princess Rescue and Boulder Dash are safe and sound in my (very small) collection.

I'm going to keep an eye on the auction just to see how it goes, though.

  8. Hey folks. After losing my previous download of all the videos from Archive.org I went back and picked up the torrent file.

Sadly, there are no seeders for it and only a couple of peers. I wonder if anyone here downloaded the files by torrent and if they'd mind seeding for a while? I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks in hope. :)

  9. Being from sunny Scotland (PAL region!) and being a framerate snob, this is my favourite thread on this forum.

I just wanted to say thank you to all those devs and hackers who take the time (and interest!) to create these wonderful PAL60 versions. Thank you. :)

  10. This is kind of a moot conversation anyway. Everyone knows that the VIC-20 is the best 8 bit out there. Affordable (at the time), successful in the marketplace, reliable, easy to program, huge library of games and was the starting point of many luminaries in the tech industry today.

Sure, the homebrew scene isn't as active as the C64 but it's still there and still producing the goods.

As Jeff Minter once said: "Viva Vic!". :P
