  1. Hay. Are these still happening? If so, I would love one. Just a quick question though. How hard would it be to add a small circuit so that you can switch between 7800 style two button and 2600 style two button (as used in Space Rocks and Princess Rescue)? PS: It really does look gorgeous by the way.

    Kickstarter?

I would back a Kickstarter for a good hardware project for the 2600. A handheld with SD slot, savekey, Atarivox+ and TV out would be my dream. Other than that, a really cool one button arcade stick in a lovely custom casing like those Vectrex ones from a few years ago. Orrrr, since I'm at it, a new 2600 in heavy sixer style casing with a built in joystick on the top grill. That way, I could have a nice new console sitting on my lap with all the VCSS buttons within reach... That would be nice.
  3. Don't Ianoid's boxes fit AAA boxed games (see what I did there )?
  4. ^ But not the 2600 version! It's really not good. Also, you can't make a game for the 2600 this good and then not make another. That's just not right. At least not until you've made a vertical shmup!
  5. Sir, MAKE THIS HAPPEN. Thanks. On topic; In the good ol' days. Spacesnake on the Vic 20 (the Commodore released side scrolling game), Gridrunner (The man Minter) and Doodle Bug (Mastertronic). Later in life Lotus 2 and countless other Amiga games but boy, oh boy did Lotus 2 get played to utter death. Even now that game is like some visual therapy thingy for me... Later on again, I would have to say Doom then Metroid Prime and Resi 4. All of these games are still true classsics in my wee opinion though the only one to still keep me up past my bed time would be Doom. That game's like heroin... but good heroin. None of that street corner crap.
  6. I still really want one of these boxed with a shirt but I'm having issues with my Paypal. Could you please, please hold onto a copy for me and I'll sort out the PP thing ASAP. Thanks in hope.
  7. From my experience of owning and playing both machines avidly I would say that, yes, technically the XBox is more powerful. However, I have always felt that the GC was a little more graceful in how it put it's graphics onto the screen. The GC games just look more smooth and elegant. There's rarely any texture popping are polygon draw distance issues and it just makes for a more pleasant graphical environment. I know this isn't science but if you compare the way Halo 2 throws it's graphics onto the screen compared to Metroid Prime it might make my point a little clearer. TLDR; ATI was more elegant than nVidia.

This looks really interesting. Did you ever manage to fit in all the elements you first described in your first post?
  9. @ Brian O; Please tell me that's you. That is just too cool. @ Zwackery; As Joe Stella asked. What was their reaction? Did the lesson go down well. I'm a teacher so there's a bit of professional curiousity here too. Also, I've never seen them before. I presume they were US only. These kinds of costumes were never that big over here in the UK during my childhood...
  10. ^ Oh please no!! Don't make it any harder than it is already! My poor old eyes and reflexes can't take much more!
  11. This is just getting better and better. And it's all the better as it kinda feels like it came out of nowhere. A really great game. I have a question about the future though. Would you ever consider using the same engine to make a straight up vertical shoot 'em up, at all? I would love to see that... EDIT: Spelling
  12. If I was to record a conversation with someone online later to be used in a podcast or such what would be the best way to do this? What would be the best (most accessible) free software to use? I'm totally ignorant to all this so any help would be appreciated. I have heard of Audacity and have even played around with it a little but it seems a little too involved for just basic recording and/or editing. It took me about 2 hours just to get my mic working on the thing! Is there something 'drag'n'drop' like Windows Movie Maker but for audio?
  13. If you end up with another +2 or 128 for sale I may be interested in picking up some games to go along with it.
  14. I can't remember what it's called but the first Spiderman game on the NDS was great. Cell shaded graphics and side scrolling beat em up action. That was a seriously good game.
  15. I've noticed that over the past few months or so the emulation 'scene' seems to be most active on the Android platform. I'm starting to think that this may be the future platform for most, if not all software based emulation. Windows used to be strong but doesn't seem to be quite the target anymore and 'desktop' for want of a better term seems to have always lagged behind. Now, though, there's rarely a day goes by withouta new build of some emu or other for Android... What do you lot think?
  16. Couldn't agree more. The pacing is just less tedious than the arcade game. And because the levels finish quicker there is a better sense of progression. In my opinion if it wasn't for the multifarious ports of SI with all their 'tweaks' on the gameplay the arcade SI wouldn't have survived with anywhere near the popularity it has. I find the arcade machine to be a little boring to be honest... it's just to labourious. As far as Demon Attack goes, I actually prefer the Vic 20 version. Probably only because that's the version I played first though I do like the little space ships 'dancing' when you gain an extra life at the end of a level... a subtle but nice addition over the 2600. The games for me that work best on the 2600 would be the ubiquitous Enduro and Missile Command. Enduro just plays and looks so nice. Missile Command is more accessible and the simple graphics and sound just add a layer of abstraction that makes the game feel, to me at least, a little more dark and menacing...

    Ataraiku

Okay I admit it. In fact I had to count it over twice when you pointed it out! Still, I quite like it now that the middle line has 8 'bits'. I'm going to stick to that fo r my new form of English Haiku! More to come later, methinks...

    Ataraiku

Yup. Atari always goes one better.

They attack at night. Remorseless, relentless approach. The heart beats faster
  20. I would love a box and shirt if they happen. So, +1 for the 'deluxe' version.
  21. Hey. I didn't get a message from you. Did these fall through? Cheers regardless, P
  22. I haven't looked at this for a wee while so it'll be nice to see what changes have happened. I'm pretty excited for this game, you know!
