  1. Nooo! It looks too cool. I really like the art for that game. Gutted. It would have made a great compliment to my Dungeon and Atari City poster... Al, would you consider some more posters for the store, at all? There is some really cool homebrew box art in the store...

  3. I like the shot posted here. I particularly love the Seaweed Assault poster in the background. Any chance that you would consider selling it? I mentioned in the Seaweed Assault thread ages ago that I'd love a poster of the artwork but nobody bit...
  4. Well, if it was modded with microswitches too I can see that being really comfy. Wasn't there something released for the Atari joystick that was basically just a big ball to stick on the top of the standard stick? Maybe it's just one of them on a cut down stick like AtariBrian suggested? In fact, a stick like that in one of those arcade base things stuck on a table would be a super cool controller for me... Maybe I'll try to make my own.
  5. I reckon a book could be interesting if done right. A coffee table book with lots of glossy porn shots would be super cool. Maybe the book could be expanded to contain the development and experimentation used in the design of other DB-9 joysticks... Microswitches, the random designs of some of the Quickshot sticks, the ubiquity of of the SlikStick and Tac 2 in the US and the Competition Pro in Europe (including interviews with players from different regions)... A book could, indeed, be interesting but it would be REALLY hard work! There is no book in English that I know of though something does ring a bell regarding a book in German some time ago. If you decide to try this I wish you all the luck in the world and I would definitely buy a copy!
  6. It is pretty cool. Technically impressive and fun. Now that's a novel combination! I wonder if Sprybug has seen this game...? Maybe he could use the Panky character in a PR engine based game...

    Imagic's Sky Patrol?

    Oh well. I kinda thought so. Do you know of another game using the same idea (that's maybe fun too!)? It just seems like a nice change from all those space games with direct control over your ships movement.
  13. You know, that could be a cool addition to Stella. Having the choice of showing screen caps, box art or both could be nice. If there is a zip out there I might suggest that... and then I'll (finally) donate to the cause.
  14. I like the new name. With regards to the '3D' in the title, it's not like Atari game makers in the past were averse to hyperbole! Go with whatever makes you happy bloke. I don't really care what the game's called as long as it plays well. PS: Just as a heads up I was going to test the PAL build on real hardware but the telly I've got over here (I'm working in China jut now) just died on me! Hopefully, I should have a 'new' one in the next few days if that's not too late for you.

  19. Oh,oh,oh! Now you've really inspired me. The spaceship flies at an angle, right? If my character name was used then the game could be called Angle Saxon! (See what I did there?)
  20. Saxon. That could also be the hero's name flying the ship. He's a bounty hunter and he takes no prisoners. His wife was killed by the evil boss of the Zax Zone and now he's pissed...He's Saxon!
  21. This has great potential as played on Stella. I agree with everyone's comments regarding 'shadows' in the space section. Personally, I'd prefer the space section to be scrapped as is and just make it another surface. You could keep it black and make out like your flying over the surface of the Deathstar a la Star Wars!

  23. There was a thread recently about old games that would be nice to see updated. I never thought about Star Raiders at the time but wouldn't it be nice to see an expanded universe these days?

    Thanks iesposta for the info. I've never really understood why some things flicker in games and some things don't. I understood about sharing a horizontal space but now the rest makes (a little!) more sense to me. I've never really minded flicker either. as long as it's constant my brain gets used to it. Ladybug is a good example in my opinion. At first it causes eye strain but after a while my brain settles and it's totally fine. It's when I play a game that 'randomly' flickers at different frequencies that my poor addled brain starts to cry...
